Another enjoyable book from Janet Tronstad's Return to Dry Creek series, featuring another member of the Stone family. This time we meet brother Jake, his former sweetheart Cat, and the daughter he didn't know he had. A very emotional and heartwarming read. And it's always nice to revisit the small town of Dry Creek.

Janet Tronstad has done it again! Lilac Wedding was a great read! I loved coming back to the Stone Family and seeing the story of Jake unfold. Cat's secret could ultimately harm the two most important people in her life. Circumstances beyond her control allow her to finally admit the truth. When Cathy Barker and her daughter, Lara, show up in Las Vegas, Nevada it causes the handsome gambler Jake Stone to go speechless. Cat is hoping that Jake is ready for some responsibility, like accepting his daughter and raising her in case she can't. She assumes that Jake knows about Lara as he has been sending her money over the years. He had asked her to marry him five years ago without knowing she carried his child, but there was never the mention...more

The love Inspired line is some of the first inspirational romance books I started to read almost 10 years ago. These books are great because they are a little shorter then a regular novel but the content is filling. The Dry Creek series was first started back around 2000. It’s a long running series so if you love series this is a great one yet you can read any of these books individually and not be lost. This book is kind of a series in a series as its book two in what I am guessing is going to...more

Janet has done it again, Lilac Wedding in Dry Creek is one of those books you cannot put down and before you know it you have read the whole thing.
Jake Stone and Cat Barker met one another when they were living at the same home run by the state. They became close friends while there and when Cat was 18 even though Jake had wanted to marry her she ran away, thinking he did not truly love her and only wanted to make life better for her.
years later Jake and she meet again in Las Vegas and this time...more

First Thanks to Janet for my review copy.
I started this book and wanted to keep reading. I thought I would just read another 20 pages but 100+ and it's 1am in the morning and the book is finished. I love a book that keeps me turning pages. The second half of the book read so quick and easy it didn't seem like a few hours had past. Jake Stone is the second of the Stone brothers and is still dealing with his childhood issues. Cat was in the care home with him and they became good friends. Now yea...more

Once again I was able to spend more time in Dry Creek which has become a wonderful escape for me from the cares of my life into the small close knit town and the loving and caring people who live there.

Jake Stone and Cathy "Cat" Barker shared life years ago when they both were dealt some hard times, then for reasons known only to Cat,they went their own ways. Now years later,Cat has come to find Jake and ask him a very big question that will change both their lives, and the life of her young dau...more

Janet hit it on the nail again! And "Lilac Wedding in Dry Creek" did take place!

How true it is that many times young people look at the mistakes and character traits of their parents and automatically assume that they will be that same way. Youth doesn't understand that different circumstances, environment, life lessons, and with the power of Jesus Christ, we are able to turn our lives around and head another direction.

This is what character Jake Stone is to find out after maturing, finding out...more

MY REVIEW

i am always amazed at how authors can write such deep subjects and make the characters so real in such few words. Janet did an awesome job in bringing Jake and Cat to life with their insecurities and trusting issues while still keeping the story line flowing. The small town life with its gossips and troubles as well as its close friendships was portrayed much like the town i grew up two miles from, and though this is a short story, i love the way a series (in this case Dry Creek) in the...more

He didnt realize that he would find Cat Barker in Dry Creek also. Jake and Cat had a past relationship and they hadnt seen each other in several years.

After talking to Cat, he knew that he still cared for her very much, and always had..

Both Jake and Cat are scared to trust their feelings and Cat has some issues that will challenge her faith.

Jake Stone never forgot his first love Cat Barker. Meeting in a juvenile home when their childhoods came crashing down Jake and Cat understood each other in a way no one else could. However Cat ran away from the home leaving Jake behind. Now she's back to ask Jake for help raising the little girl he didn't know he had. Can Jake and Cat learn to step out on faith and trust in true love?

Jake Stone was about to leave for his brother's wedding when Cat, his close friend from his teenage years, shows up unexpectedly. She and her daughter end up traveling with him to his hometown of Dry Creek, where Jake hasn't visited for 10 years. The story deals with their relationship of the past, and how that will translate into the future, and the issues each has to deal with in order to come to terms with the past and future. I hadn't read any books from the Dry Creek series before, so obvio...more

what an amazing, true love story. definitely a page-turner, for sure. true love does exist, and not only in fairy-tales :) a box of kleenex may be needed!

First of all, I would like to thank Janet Tronstad for an especially good read.

Jake Stone and Cat Barker had met in a juvenile home and were pretty tight there. Cat had run away from the home and when Jake got out he didn't know where she was. He sent money to the home in her name hoping it would be forwarded to her.

Now, Cat, with her daughter Lara, has found Jake and has come to tell him a couple important pieces of information that he needed to know. How would she tell him? Would he accept wha...more

I loved this story! Cat is scared for herself and daughter. She needs to make sure the father of her daughter will take care of her if anything happens to her when she has surgery. I found Jake to my liking. It was also refreshing to see him realize he needs help from others and that you do not always need to pay for help. I liked how he was pushy but took charge when he needed. I also loved the ending. I will say I got choked up towards the end and I liked how things were not always smooth sail...more

Very good book continuing the story of the Stone family's return to Dry Creek, Montana. Jake Stone is the hero who feels a strong responsibility to take care of those he cares about, but he doesn't feel that he deserves to be loved. He never planned to become a father for fear of turning out like his own abusive father, so he's shocked when he learns that he has a four-year-old daughter. I really liked that not once did he struggle about taking responsibility for the child and her mother, but ra...more

I have enjoyed all of the Dry Creek books I have read, but this one is especially poignant. It is always nice to revisit the citizens of Dry Creek, Montana, and I enjoyed reading about Jake, Cat, and Lara. Their characters were very realistic, and I fell in love with each one of them. There is both suspense and romance in the course of the story, and it is certainly not always predictable. The fairy tale touches thrown in were delightful, and not overdone, which I appreciated. I highly recommend...more

I was eager to read Janet Tronstad's latest offering: Lilac Wedding in Dry Creek and it did not disappoint! The story of love and redemption was a very touching one and I found myself unable to put it down. Jake and Cat met in a Juvenile Home years before and now; Cat is back in Montana with her daughter in tow. Janet has a way of carefully crafting her characters into the most wonderful fashion. I felt sympathy and joy at once. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good romanc...more

I have enjoyed all the Dry Creek books I have read but this is the best so far. I could not put it down until I finished. Jake's emotional journey into parenthood was very touching and Cat's sacrifices for her daughter and her quest to belong to a real family made this a great story. As always, Mrs. H's appearance is a welcome addition to the stories. I really liked Jake, Cat, Lara, Mrs. H. and all of Jake's family. I enjoyed first book of this family's trilogy and was not disappointed with Jake...more

Good book. Cat came looking for Jake because she needed him to look after their daughter if something happened to her. Jake was surprised to see her and stunned at the news he was a father. He was wary of marriage because of his father's abuse - he was afraid he'd be just like him. But he wanted to do the right thing and take care of Cat and Lara. He could also tell that Cat was holding something back from him. It took almost losing her for Jake to realize he really needed them both in his life....more

One of Janet's best! The characters are believable and honest. The storyline keeps the reader's interest until the very end. I had a hard time putting the book down! It captured me from the beginning. Dry Creek is a wonderful series and all the characters are human and interesting but the Stones are especially engaging. Jake & Cat have a heartfelt story that will keep the reader's attention until the end and leave them wanting to know "the rest of the story......"

This was my first book by Janet Tronstad I have ever read, and I really liked it. This was the first book in a while that I read within a day. I don't want to give away any part of it, but I loved how faith has been interwoven into it, just like in my life and others that I know. Can't wait to read more of her books!

This has become one of my favorites from this series- absolutely loved this story and finished it in one sitting! Jake soon learns that all the money in the world will never buy him happiness or love and it takes coming home and Cat's crisis to show him just what home, love and family truly means.

Another good read by Janet! I love how she weaves tidbits from other Dry Creek stories through each book. It leaves me feeling like I'm catching up with old friends while getting to know new ones. Lilac Wedding was a very emotional read for me and even brought tears to my eyes.

As usual Janet has written a smash.
These books are so good all I have to do is see Dry Creek in the title and I know it is a winner.
All of her books are good but there is just something about these. If I haven't read them all I haven't missed many.

I received a copy of this book for free from Goodreads through the First Reads program.

Typical Christian lit. A boy and a girl, both with troubled pasts, think they can never love. Then they suddenly find God and each other, and learn they can. Meh.

I loved this story. I could have easily read it without putting down the book. I had to make myself set it aside. This is a very touching love story about two people who have endured great difficulty. It sparks the readers emotions.

Janet grew up in the wide open spaces of rural Montana and now lives in the urban spaces of Pasadena, California. She's used both of these locations in her books. Her Dry Creek, Montana series numbers over twenty novels now and her Pasadena books, The Sisterhood of the Dropped Stitches, number four.
