This is a love story.

Boy meets girl and girl falls for boy - that much is true.

But when Sienna meets Nick it's not the way it happens in love stories. It's because of a squirrel on water skis...

She sees Nick's dangerous brown eyes and thinks,

Who will be there to catch Siena when she falls? She is so fragile. She has so many secrets, and he is not that

Oh, THANK GOD, AND THE READING FAIRY (if there isn't one, somebody should create her)

I'VE FINISHED THIS SUGARED (Honestly they should give us some sort of warning on the front cover! Something along the lines of: Attention, this story contains so much sugar and silliness that it can turn out difficult to swallow!

And to think that it all started with a squirrel in water skis....

Look, the first one hundred and twenty seven pages were a: AWE, aren't they silly, ridiculous i mea
When I saw this book sitting on the new arrivals shelf at my local library, I immediatly grabbed it, the cover is just beautiful and it drew me to it like the moth to the flame!

This is a very absorbing and entertaining read, as well as emotional and deeply moving. However, it's not perfect and my main feeling whilst reading was annoyance.

The characters come across as a lot younger than they are, especially the hero, whom acted as though he was 21 not late 20's and 30's. Staying on the age theme,

One word to describe this book: FOLLOW.

Alright, why follow? Simply because this book is all about following your heart when it comes to loving someone, because sometimes, the mind isn't always right. But timing is the best part and the most crucial and dangerous one, do it in the wrong time and it'll mess the whole purpose. That's what this book is all about.

I bought this because of the title and the book cover. Never heard of this book before, but I saw it in the Valentine's section at the book

I received this book at our Ottawa book blogger meet-up from Hatchette group for review. I like a good chick lit story and I was looking forward to reading this book. I have to admit that while I ended up liking this book as a whole, there were times when I wanted to throw the book across the room.
The main characters in the novel, Sienna and Nick, are clearly in love with each other. It is apparent from page 1 and they do not seem to be able to get their shit together. Both are stubborn and the

First of all, I have to tell you that in my whole experience of reading this book, the most dominant feeling I had was frustration.

Yes, the blurb promised a "boy-meets-girl" story and the title promised a love story (Could you be any more blunt with This is a Love Story?), but the book is so much more complex than those premises. It was honestly a roller-coaster ride, one that lasts for five years.

I really like the emotion behind the novel. Sure, every few pages I would be all like, "Why can't t
This was the first book I read from Jessica Thompson and I regret nothing. She is talented and has a great and captivating way of approach the feelings and the moments of the characters. This book is seriously nice, beautiful, addicting.
Reading it, you smile, you laugh, you cry, you get mad and impatient/frustated over the characters. It was a really funny, interesting and pleasant reading.

Okay, let's start with the good news. Basically, the plot in itself has so much potential. I actually like the short relationship between main A and main B-break off to seek new ones-go back together after some realization that they belong with one another. But that's pretty much IT. The bad news?

Let me just say: WHAT A NOVEL TO HAVE IN MY HANDS AFTER WISHING FOR SO LONG TO FEEL THE PAPERBACK AGAIN. Maybe I should've taken the "be careful what you wish for" adage more seriously. The characters w
This is a lovely, heart-warming, heart-wrenching rollercoaster of a book! I absolutely loved it, I read it so quickly as I just wanted to find out what happened. I loved the main characters of Nick and Sienna, they were real to me. They had their flaws but ultimately they were lovely people and so I really cared what happened to them. I really liked the supporting characters too, especially Sienna's dad George. I really felt like I had got to know them in the short time I was reading this book : ...more

OH DIOS!!

I started this not expecting a lot from the blurb I admit but it actually still managed not to live up to any expectations.

I found the 2 main characters really annoying. Nick is meant to be 27/28 in this book, yet he basically comes across as a teenager the whole way through. I know guys are immature but this immature? my hubby is 27 and doesnt act like this.
Sienna acted the age she was meant to but also found the storyline of them supposedly being "in love" with each other silly. They both get
This is a good read and well written. I loved the beginning and end of the book, the first meeting of Sienna and Nick is very romantic. The story starts so well and I enjoyed the switching between the two viewpoints. Both the main characters have a tendency to over analyse what they should say and do, which leaves them both afraid to reveal their true feelings to each other. This is all very sweet to begin with, but this then goes on for years as they try to hide their love for each other and ge ...more
When I started reading this book, given by my most loved one, I never thought it would touch my heart this much. Yes, this is a love story. But this is also a story of friendship, of waiting, of achieving, of breaking down and getting back up, of crying and laughing and loving and moving on and living life. This book touched my soul, it made me crave for more, for another moment of Nick and Sienna, for another page to read. I held on to this book like it was my last chance of being saved. So far ...more

I think this book is amazingly lovely, its for people who love love, I just finished it and it was something that makes you happy. I think if you like books about romance you should pick it up. what I love about it, its from both point of view and you can know both characters thoughts. I would definitely pick up another book from the author Jessica Thompson I think her other book called three little words. the characters where lovely the girl aka ( sienna ) was the kind of person who is so good, ...more
This was one of those books that was frustrating....but in a good way! From the very first chapter I fell for Nick and Sienna, two friends who are secretly in love with each other. Funny and caring, readers can't help but root for these two charismatic characters to wind up together happily ever after! While Sienna is a sweet, down to earth girl that everyone can't help but befriend, Nick is an outrageous jokester who never wants to grow up. An odd pair to be sure, yet they are perfect for each ...more
I have to say, I was just a little disappointed with this book. It wasn't a bad read, but more like the sort of book I would pick up to read on the beach for it's simplicity. There's no denying that as it claim on the cover, it is a "boy meets girl" sort of story. But if I was cruel enough to ruin the story, I could probably tell you the entire gist of it in a couple of sentences. I was a little mislead by the mention in the description of the couple meeting due to a squirrel on custom made skis ...more

I have to start by mentioning the cover of this book which is just gorgeous.

This story spans about 5 years; it certainly isn’t a whirlwind fantasy. It didn't feel like 5 years, it could easily have been a matter of months but as the characters make reference to the length of time, you begin to realise how long they've actually known each other. I have to admit, at times I did find that it was kind of dragged out in that I wanted to bash their heads together and make them realise just what the ot
A nice, romantic story of two people who fall in love at first sight, but for the next 5 years date other people because they are too afraid to admit how they truly feel about each other. It was definitely too much drama, but I'm a sucker for best-friend romances, so it was exactly the kind of book I'd enjoy.

The fault with this book is its length, 440 pages is waaay to long for a romance book. Another thing that bothered me were the sentences. Some were way too long, and as a result they lost t

A amizade verdadeira, p

Special British humor and lots of “ungrownup” action sets the stage for Sienna and Nick's much deserved HEA. Sienna as "girl next door" heroine will melt our heart while Nick emodies the conflicted hero who comes across as more of an anti-hero. Prepare yourself for an emotional roller-coaster ride.

Sienna Walker, unaware of her natural beauty, has lots of insecurities. To compensate, she tackles her job at Cube Publishing with determin
I adore debut novels, there's something about the unknown and the anticipation of a brand new story experience that really excites me, and I'm always really keen to read them as soon as they arrive through my letterbox! This book was certainly one that caught my eye, not least because of the absolutely beautiful cover it has! It's a subtle light blue with pretty white detailing, but it's just so different from any other cover on my shelf that I loved it. Also, the title really draws you in and i ...more

Jessica Thompson is an author living in London.

Born in Yorkshire in the late eighties, she then lived in France and Kent, before moving to the big city she loves so much.

Her very first ‘novel’, written in her early teens, is so old it was stored on a floppy disc. She spent most of her childhood reading her latest poems and stories to her long-suffering but inspirational parents, who encouraged her

“But if it is love, real love, then I want them to find each other. Because I believe that love is an overwhelming, all-consuming force, and when it's genuine you can't really ignore it. No matter how long it takes. It knocks down your door by force. It keeps you awake at night. It plagues your thoughts and burn your soul. If it is love, they won't need me at all. By telling my daughter that the man of her dreams loves her too, would I not be getting in the way? Meddling with fate?” 40 likes

That was a very good way of describing it. A little box. Packed full of love. Love that I had never really been able to express, so it was banging away at the sides and screaming to be let out.
'Yes it has been. And really, it's a little box I carry everywhere with me, because I guess the love never properly goes away.”
