When a cute guy dressed like a Victorian pirate kneels in front of Eloise the day after her seventeenth birthday, she knows that something strange is going on-and that's before he vows to be her champion and mentions her flaky aunt, Antonia, who's gone incommunicado once again.

But this appearance isn't a coincidence, and when Eloise is attacked and pushed into an alternate...more

Soon after her 17th birthday, Eloise started seeing Faeries everywhere. Unfortunately, that means they can also see through the glamour that’s been hiding her. She is wanted by Lord Strahan, king of Faery, and she has no idea why. A fierce warrior named Lucas shows up claiming that he is pledged to her, which makes him honor-bound to defend her, but Eloise is unsure whether she should trust him or not. Her best friends Jo and Devin are there to help her every step of the way, and even try to sav...more

You can say what you want about me but I love Alyxandra Harvey novels.

Stolen Away took me back to why I’ve always loved Harvey’s books. I fell in love with the story completely.

It I really liked reading Harvey’s take on the Fey. Which was pretty traditional, I liked the whole aspect of the fey shape shifting into birds. If you’ve read Harvey’s other books you’ll also know that she creates very strong friendships bonds. Which is always refreshing, because Eloise Hart and Jo are a great duo. They’...more

As you know I really like to Read this authors’’ books and this isn’t an exception. At first I had an impression that the whole book has nothing to do with the paranormal stuff. To be honest this impression doesn’t wear off vey easily and stays with you for a dozen or so pages. Nevertheless the paranormal thread exists in this book moreover it’s pretty interesting.

The main character in the text is Eloise Hart just normal teenager with a best girl and boy friends. The story starts with a strange...more

I always enjoy Alyxandra Harvey's books, she is one of my favorite authors, and Stolen Away was no exception. It was a quick, fun read with quirky heroines and swoon-worthy heroes. What's not to enjoy?

I usually don't like books that involve fairies. Something about them just turns me off. In fact, most times, I hate them. But I didn't really dislike the fairies in Stolen Away. Well, most of them at least. Lucas and Isadora were totally awesome. And Eldric... Oh, Eldric. I LOVED him. So much. Lik...more

Don't you hate it when your family keep the fact that you're a faerie princess a secret from you your entire life, and then some bloke shows up with magical powers and has to protect you from some other guys? And then they, like, fall hopelessly and irrevocably in love with you despite the fact that you don't really think you're all that? Even though it's fairly standard paranormal romance, it's fun and fast-paced and the ending is conclusive! How I love a standalone novel! It's very heavy on th...more

From Bloomsbury:

For seventeen years, Eloise Hart had no idea the world of Faery even existed. Now she has been abducted and trapped in the Rath of Lord Strahan, King of Faery. Strahan was only meant to rule for seven years, as Faery tradition dictates, and then give up his crown to another. But he won't comply, and now chaos threatens both worlds.

The only one who can break his stranglehold on the Faery court is his wife, Eloise's aunt, Antonia. Using Eloise to lure Antonia, Strahan captures his...more

This is a fun read with a lot of great faerie lore references that I really enjoyed. It's not as developed as some of Harvey's other novels, sadly, but it really didn't matter all that much in the end, I still enjoyed it very much. I kind of wish she would turn this one into a series, honestly - there is clearly more here and I want to read it! I do feel like, if it wasn't planned to be a series, there should have been more to the novel because it does feel ever so slightly thin.

The thing that...more

Eloise always knew that her aunt Antonia had some problems that kept her out of touch for much of the year, but she did not realize that these problems stemmed from the fact that she was married to the Faery king, who is angry with her aunt and kidnaps Eloise to get back at her. Luckily, Eloise has good friends Jo and Devon who are able to help her excape, and there is also the very hot Fae Lucas who is on her side. Strahan does not want to give up his crown after serving for seven years, as tra...more

It was readable. Didn't really see the point of the switching POV between Jo and Eloise. I feel as if Jo's POV could have been cut out of this entirely.

It's a fast-paced book. I enjoy more dialogue than description, but sometimes this book moves way too fast. It was rushed in places, as if the author wanted it over and done with (I know the feeling). But I shouldn't get that feeling as a READER. Quite often it read: And then this happened. And then this. And then this. (Insert lots of dialogue a...more

I love Alyxandra Harvey’s writing, her style, her books…especially the Drake Chronicles. I have a copy of Haunting Violet staring at me, and after finishing Stolen Away, I now plan to dive in immediately. Harvey knows how to write young, fresh characters. I always enjoy their dialogue, and Eloise and Jo were super cool and fun. Eloise with her Rockabilly style, and Jo with her quirky love of all things British. I loved that they were best friends yet had different interests and personalities. Ev...more

I had no intention of staying up until the wee hours of the morning to read, but as soon as I picked up this book, I just couldn't put it down. I was completely gripped from start to finish and like with all of Harvey's books, I was completely lost in the story. The story just flows with ease, captivating my imagination and losing me in a world of faeries. I seriously had forgotten how much I love a faery book.

The book was written in first person, but alternating to between two viewpoints: Eloi...more

First, I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bloomsbury Children's Books for the opportunity to review STOLEN AWAY.

I'm a big fan of THE DRAKE CHRONICLES (I mean, come on, all those sexy vampire boys!) anyway, I digress, so when I heard Alyx Harvey was writing a faery novel I was certainly intrigued. Her creative take on vampires captured me, so I was very excited to see what she would do with faeries. And I was very pleased with the book. To me, it wasn't quite as different as TDC, but it was just as...more

I chose to read Stolen Away by Alyxandra Harvey because the cover caught my attention and the summary sounded interesting. I was a little nervous I wouldn't get a chance to finish the book because I only had time to start it the day before I had to mail it to the next person. Lucky for me, Harvey's writing is what I can "quick reading." Regardless of the length, authors with this type of smooth, flowing writing that is unencumbered by miscellaneous description or too many intricate plot points a...more

The beginning was a big turnoff for me, so I was pleasantly surprised that I ended up liking this book. I'm not a big fan of fairy books, but this was not a bad read at all. It was different from your typical Seelie vs. Unseelie books with characters in some way related to King Oberon or Queen Tatiana.

The thing that really kept me from giving this a higher rating was the characters were very grating on my nerves. I think Harvey may have tried a little bit too hard to be clever, and her character...more

STOLEN AWAY, by Alyxandra Harvey, is another home run for this simply amazing author! With Harvey, it's been vampires and ghosts, but now she has stepped into another paranormal tale...a fairy tale to be exact! Her signature style of multiple POV's, hot lead boys, and electric chemistry is present and accounted for in this stand-alone book.

Harvey has a knack for creating characters that are dynamic and layered. Their back-stories are concrete and I feel like I am just getting a tiny snippet of...more

1.5.

Books like these are what make me appreciate how really great my favorite books are. As I was reading, I came up with this slightly shoddy metaphor: If books are paint on a canvas, good books are many-layered, intricate, colorful paintings, and this book is a very thin layer of pink paint, with maybe sparkles. Stolen Away just didn't seem to have any substance. It didn't make me laugh or cry or feel suspense or excitement or give me any sort of emotion other than exasperation. The writing w...more

Stolen Away was a cute short read! In my opinion it doesn’t come close to some of the other amazing fey novels out there like the Wicked Lovely, Iron Fey, of Wondrous Strange series but it was a good story.

It’s told in two POV’s the main POV is Eloise and honestly I didn’t care for her parts that much. The POV that I liked and that kept me interested was her best friend Jo’s. Jo had me cracking up with her attempts at using British slang and her arguing with a faery the size of a flower. I also...more

I love Alyxandra Harvey's Drake Chronicles and I was so excited to read this book! This story is told from the point of view of two best friends, Eloise and Jo. Eloise and Jo are both very different girls. Jo lives some of the time on her grandparents farm and is used to hard work. Eloise lives with her single mother in an apartment and is home alone quite often. Both girls are pulled into a power struggle with the fae and need to help in order to restore peace to the seasons. Along the way they...more

I’m sad to have to write this review. I’ve read The Drake Chronicles and I loved each one of them. I enjoyed Haunting Violet as well.

However, Stolen Away did nothing for me. I finished the book but it was painful.

I found the different points of view confusing and unnecessary. The book is bogged down with too much detail and bickering. I could not keep the secondary characters straight – they weren’t fleshed out.

Eloise was kept in the dark, kind of ri...more

I just finished this book and I really liked it a lot. Eloise is kidnapped by Strahan, the Fae king because he wants to use her as leverage to get his estranged wife – Eloise’s Aunt – to come to Eloise’s rescue. His plan is to use Eloise to entrap her into giving him complete power over the Unseelie court once again after he was forced to share power.

Eloise is helped by her best friends Jo and Devin, both of which I really loved. Eloise meets the handsome Lucas, and the boy whom becomes Jo’s lo...more

I want to start with the cover. The cover of my ARC is much brighter than the one pictured above- Eloise's lips are bright red and the whole cover is very vivid. I keep going back and forth on the cover. The bright red lips and short brown hair really do represent the "rockabilly" fashion sense of Eloise and her friends, but I am not completely sold on it. I do have high hopes for the finished copy though.

I love how original this story was. Each fae story that I have read about a "normal teen be...more

Eloise Hart had no idea that her family was connected to the world of the Faery until she was abducted by Lord Strahan, the king of the Faery, and was used as a hostage to lure his wife, Eloise’s Aunt Antonia out of hiding. Now Eloise and her best friends Jo and Devin must forge alliances with other Fae to recuse Antonia, including Lucas, a boy who has sworn to protect Eloise and Eldric, who may have feeling for Jo...more

Stolen Away is told from the perspective of two friends, Eloise and Jo. They are enjoying the summer when suddenly Eloise meets Lucas, dressed in unique attire, who pledges her loyalty. From this point on, Eloise’s life starts to change dramatically when emissaries from the land of the Faery begin to accost her. Eventually she is taken to the Faery Kingdom of King Strahan but manages to escape. Together with her friends, Eloise is determined to discover the reason she is a target and the ulterio...more

<3 I loved this.
I love how Eloise, Jo, & Devin are such great friends. Most book, there'll be two best friends, and either a) The main character starts seeing faeries, vamps, or other fantasy stuff, and then she starts keeping secrets from her BFF, and they get into arguments & start moving apart, then the BFF is hardly in the book. Or b) If the BFF is a guy, he loves the main character, but she loves some other guy, and that separates them. Or something like that. The BFF's aren't us...more

Thoughts before the read:
The blurb makes the story sound interesting. I know this is going to be a good read and a funny one too.

Thoughts after the read:
This is amazing. Never expected this was coming.

Review:

This is mind blowing. The only thing is that how can Alyxandra write this flabbergasting story in just 227pages?

Eloise Hart lives a normal life like a average girl, but it all changes when a hot guy in a armour tells her to come with him...more

Stolen away was a quick read. I read all of Alyxandra Harvey’s books and the writing style is always flawless. Just note that this review might be at some points a little bit spoilery.
I have to admit that Stolen Away is the one I liked the least. There was nothing wrong with the book per say I just didn’t get into it as much as I expected to.
I like the two main characters that shares POV (Jo and Eloise) but when Jo and Eris shared the big “I love you” it made me cringe.
The characters are diff...more

First a little side note. I really really really like this cover. There's something so striking about the colors. So pretty! Okay, done :)

Stolen Away started off pretty slow for me. The beginning didn't really hold my interest. There were even a couple of parts I had to go back and re-read. I remember thinking that I was disappointed because I love Alyxandra Harvey's Drake Chronicles series so much. I didn't really care about any of the characters at first either. But it did...more

One of the things I love best about Alyxandra Harvey’s books is that they always make me laugh out loud. There hasn’t been a book by her that I’ve read that hasn’t made me smile and laugh at some point. Stolen Away is no different. The characters are all very funny and very easy to like. It has action, a cute love story between the characters and lots of humor. It’s a fast read and super entertaining. It has some similarities to her Drake Chronicles series, only with Faeries.

Eloise has no idea...more

Alyxandra Harvey lives in a stone Victorian house in Ontario, Canada with a few resident ghosts who are allowed to stay as long they keep company manners. She loves medieval dresses, used to be able to recite all of The Lady of Shalott by Tennyson, and has been accused, more than once, of being born in the wrong century. She believes this to be mostly true except for the fac...more

“You were at the party on Friday night, weren't you?" I didn't mentioned I'd followed him into the woods.

He leaned back in his chair, his legs sprawled out. His boots nudged the bottom ruffle of my skirt. "Aye."
Aye? Seriously? Could he be any hotter?
Unless he had been looking for his girlfriend at the party.
Not hot.
"I was supposed to meet my cousin," he elaborated, "but I didn't find her,"
Hot again.”
