I’m a big fan of Neil Plakcy. His Have Body, Will Guard series is my favorite, but I’ve read most of his novels set in South Beach, so imagine my surprise when I started reading this story and recognized a secondary character I really liked from his prior novel Mi Amor. In that novel, we meet Sean when that novel’s main character meets him at the pool. He’s a bit overweight, nervous to been seen by the other hunky swim team members in the locker rooms, and cur

This was sweet. Mr. Plakcy gave me my Nochebuena story and all I can say is Muchas Muchas Gracias!!!

Sean has been a member of the South Beach Swim Team for a while, it's helped with his body image, but jobwise he's still down on his luck. But he and his fellow team members still feel terrible for their coach Gaspar. Gaspar is not doing so well these holidays and they all figure an authentic Nochebuena, a traditional Latin Christmas Eve dinner, as a surprise is just what Gaspar needs.

I really enjoyed the gay swim team in Mi Amor and I was happy to revisit them.

This is a happy and sweet Christmas story. I loved Sean, I liked Magnus and I was happy to see Gaspar finding happiness too - with John, it seems :) Simple, straightforward and lovely short book.

Although I'd've liked to see some mentions of Javier and Adam from Mi Amor too - love these guys!

I know it's South Beach and they're all gay men, but there was so much focus just on looks in this story. Also, I never really warmed up to Magnus. This was just OK for me.

A great story and I like the idea of a swimming team anthology -- will read more of the individual stories. This one is a good balance of romance and sex -- full of hope. Good job!
