It's been months since Aria last saw Perry. Months since Perry was named Blood Lord of the Tides, and Aria was charged with an impossible mission. Now, finally, they are about to be reunited. But their reunion is far from perfect. The Tides don't take kindly to Aria, a former Dweller. And with the worsening Aether storms threatening the tribe's precarious existence, Aria b...more

Well, finally after a series of disappointing sequels this year (Rebel Heart, Insurgent, The Calling) I've found a book that was even better than its predecessor. I think Rossi has gone even further with this installment, building on her characters and their relationships with one another, creating a number of funny, sad and ultimately memorable little moments that made me even more invested in the bigger picture. What she does best here is get the balance right between fast-paced action/adventu...more

This review contains spoilers for Under the Never Sky.

Recently--and far too often, if you ask me--in young adult trilogies, second installments have been widely known to be practically a resting point for both the author, and the characters and the plot. Instead of what should be an intense ride setting up for the final installment, the second installment in a trilogy is, more often than not, a complete and utter bore ending with a bang to lure readers who were less than impressed with the seco...more

Under the Never Sky, Veronica Rossi’s stunning debut novel and the first instalment of this excellent series, introduced me to world both frightening and rich in imagination. With Aether skies and a split futuristic society, and driven by brilliant characters and a superbly-developed romance, Under the Never Sky was in a league of its own. The sequel, I am pleased to say, is just as spectacular, if not more.

Very few other contenders in this genre manage to achieve such a fine balance be...more

Through the Ever Night is one of the few sequels that truly took me by surprise - in the best possible way. I can't quite articulate how excited I was for this book, especially after loving Under the Never Sky, so to say that my expectations were met would be an understatement. Once again, Veronica Rossi has proved her prowess as a writer and if there's anything I can guarantee, it's that fans of the series will most definitely not be disappointed by this scintillating sequel.

Through the Ever Night was AMAZING! Everything I loved about Under the Never Sky was kicked up several notches and then some! Epic adventure, heart-pounding action, romance, friendship, longing, and heartbreak are all found within the pages. I’m still reeling with awe at the love I have for this story!

We pick up right where the story left off in Under the Never Sky where Aria and Perry meet again. Their love for each other is strong, but they face so many outside challenges. The Aether storms s...more

It's not often that a sequel outshines its predecessor, but with Through the Ever Night, it seems to be the general consensus. We've had a few examples here and there, and they've all proved to be pretty memorable, but I don't think I've ever seen a case quite like this. Don't get me wrong – I loved Under the Never Sky, it was fresh and dynamical and it left a lasting impression, but due to its intensity, Through the Ever Night is far more remarkable. Rossi has grown more confident as a writer,...more

Give it to me, she wanted to scream. Give me the pain. Let me take it from you.

4.5 stars. Why you hurt me, book? Please forgive me for being stuck in kittah speak, but for the love of all that's good, WHY?!?

You are toying with my emotions, Ms. Rossi. I don't know whether to be impressed or angry over the gut punch that I just felt. Of course, the part of me which questions everything is not going to take this lying down. I will get back up and seek out answers. I am not convinced that what ju...more

Whew. I am stunned because I didn’t like Under the Never Sky at all and had my doubts about continuing this series, but I am so glad I gave this book a chance because, turns out, Through the Ever Night is the best book I've read in months. Very impressive. As a note, this review is mostly aimed at my fellow Under the Never Sky unenthusiasts, because for fans of the first book, I think the only thing I need to say is this sequel is so worth it.

For me, the problem with Under the Never Sky wasn't t...more

I think I'm going to scream out of happiness! I just got a signed ARC of Through The Ever Night in the mail and Veronica Rossi sent me a signed bookmark. Time to freak out!

Words can't express how much I loved this book. No review can justify the awesomeness of Veronica Rossi's latest book in her Under The Never Sky Trilogy. Aria is finally reunited with Perry and what a reunion it was. Perry is having difficulty being Blood Lord and finding the Still Blue. I am...more

It's confirmed in this interview that we'll learn more about Aether in Through the Ever Night! :)

(1/23/12)

Just finished reading Under the Never Sky and I'm already excited for more news about the sequel! So far, here's a Q & A that mentioned the second book. :)

We know you can’t reveal too many secrets, but can you give us a hint at what we might expect from Through the Ever Night?

The tone is skewing darker and more intense. In Under the Never Sky the problems were...more

Through the Ever Night takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride that leaves you with ALL THE FEELS.

In Through the Ever Night, Perry and Aria are faced with many challenges. Rossi pushes these characters to their limits and you can see just how much they've developed/are still developing. Perry is now the Blood Lord of the Tides and with that comes deep responsibility for the well-being of his people. Not everyone thinks he's a suitable leader though, especially when he brings along Aria.

Ok, while this wasn't as intense as Under the Never Sky, it doesn't even matter. I was so invested in this book because the characters and the story itself are just stellar.

Perry and Aria are my dream couple. They are just perfect. That's all that needs to be said on that. Perry definitely had his hands full with his responsibilities as Blood Lord and trying to find Talon as well the Still Blue. I liked that things didn't go his way. He struggled and that made me love him even more. I liked see...more

First Thoughts:
Read, finished, LOVED. I have so many FEELINGS. Happy. Sad. Hope.
Sorrow.
Everything about this book...there's a greater sense of urgency and purpose, and... Oh, the characters. WOWOWOW.

Sequels are tricky things; even more so 'middle books'. With a happy romantic union cemented in book one, how does the author sustain chemistry? With a journey underway, how does she maintain momentum on route to a distant conclusion? Is it time to answer questions? Pose them? Fans are demanding crea...more

Pre-reading thoughts: COVER COVER COVER COVER COVER COVER COVER COVER CO─ *dies*

Update: Now that I've recovered from the shock of seeing this goooorgeous cover, I do have to say one thing: Perry does not look like the Perry I pictured. o_o I thought he'd have curlier, blond hair and darker skin.

Through the Ever Night is a fantastic sequel to Under the Never Sky. Aria and Perry have spent some months apart, and we see them reunited. Perry takes Aria back to the Tides, of which he's now the Bloodlord. While hoping that his people will accept Aria, he's doubtful. But I don't think he has any idea how bad it'll actually be.

We learn more about the cause of the devastation of the world. About three hundred years before, a solar flare corrupted the earth's magnetosphere, causing the...more

OMG. Wow.

Through the Ever Night is a great sequel to Under the Never Sky, in fact probably more impactful and much more in depth than the first one. The plot thickens, and there are more twists and turns than ever.

However, the first half of the book is a little on the slow side in terms of the plot, but it's not so bad, it doesn't feel long, although it's once that you finished and you reflect on it, then you realize: oh, the beginning was kind of a slow start. It does set things up ni...more

2013?! Really??! I can't wait that long! I have to read about Aria and Perry!!!

Damn, i feel like crying with the author leaving us with an ending like that. You better make their reunion the best thing since Justin Bieber's floppy hair!

Not that i'm a big fan of it though.

Wait. Give me a minute... I just, I just want to revel in the gloriousness that is a realistic portrayal of a healthy teenaged romance in a YA book.

So, it’s Perry and Aria’s Round 2 and it was damned impressive. There’s just something about those two that really resonates with me. The ending of Under the Never Sky was one that stayed with me long after I had moved on to other books. I remember reading the last word and punctuating the momen...more

Before reading the book. This was when the cover was revealed..

WoW . Perry looks very..... modern ? o.O . Atleast for a guy who has lived in the woods for all his life and basically doesn't own a decent shirt .

After reading..

Well let's just say , that things are much much clearer now and definitely much better.
And also things make more sense now.

.....what i loved about this book is the nice use of vivid imagination. the building of the plot is pretty interesting and it keeps you glued to the bo...more

I don’t usually read books significantly before their release dates. A lot of it has to do with me getting excited about the book and then trying to hold off my review closer to around the release date. I’ve waited about all I can with Through the Ever Night. So here it is!

Through the Ever Night is book two, so if you haven’t read Under the Never Sky, you should get on that. Seriously. I waited to read Under the Never Sky and I wished I had to read soooo much sooner! This is one of those books t...more

Thoughts after reading it:

It's 3am and I don't know HOW the eff I'm supposed to fall asleep after that?? OMG. SO freaking good. Not often I enjoy a second book more than a first.

ALSO. I didn't think it was possible to love Roar anymore. But I do.

From my "Final Thoughts" portion of the review:

I’m going to pretty much officially say I liked Through The Ever Night MORE which I rarely ever say about a book 2. Prepare to get your workout in turning those pages furiously because this was one of th...more

I forgot how much I had liked this story!! I was going to reread the first one though to brush up on some of the finer plot lines, but in the end I couldn't wait long enough to get into this one. I read this in roughly 4 hours. That's how good it is.

Oh Perry, Perry, Perry. Aria laughed. The was attractive. She smelled like horse. "Do you ever miss anything?" Perry smiled. "You, all the time." Swoon! I love him. He's so loyal and fierce. Even if he thinks Aria smells like violets during her time...more

I'm looking forward to reading this book, but... Come on, that is NOT how Perry looks and everyone knows it! I haven't actually had any experience living outdoors or in the wild, but I'm pretty sure someone that did/does would NOT look like a model.

Oh, and apparently he's taken a trip to the hair salon too, because I'm seeing a bit of a Rob Pattinson style going on there. I see they dyed his hair for him too, hmm... And, wait. Hold up. Why is his skin... Lighter?? Must be some kind of beauty tec...more

‘Under the Never Sky’ was a book I was dying to read, put off for so long, and fell in love instantly; so when I was given the chance to read ‘Through the Ever Night’ I couldn’t contain my excitement. I was desperate to jump back into Perry and Aria’s world. After the way the first book ended, I needed to know if they’d get together. The action, excitement and emotional rollercoaster we’re sent on met all my expectations and more. I loved every single moment of this book.

4.5/5 stars.

Rossi's done it again, folks. If anything, I'd say "Through the Ever Night" beats out its predecessor in almost all technical areas - character development, worldbuilding, plot/arc development, and sensory imagery/language. The amount of depth and the amount of development, period, in this next installment in the Ever/Never trilogy really just blew me away. Even if you weren't impressed with the first book, I highly urge you to change your mind and read this second book. Rossi grew...more

I can't express enough how much I love the characters in this series. I just want to jump into the pages and live there... well, hopefully with a survival guide and equipment. Maybe I'll even hook up with Roar and mend his broken heart:) The next book CANNOT COME SOON ENOUGH!!! Trust me when I say I'll be pacing until I get my hands on it.
