Lacrimosa (Requiem #1)
by
Christine Fonseca (Goodreads Author)
It's been three thousand years since the fall of Azzaziel and the rebirth of evil; three thousand years since the Sentinal Order, an elite group of warrior angels, returned to Celestium. Their job-rid Earth of the dark creatures, the UnHoly. And with luck, end Azza's rule. As if casting out demons isn't hard enough, five-hundred-year-old Nesy has to masquerade as a teenage...more

This needs to be awesome because;
1. Lacrimosa by Mozart is one of my favourite songs.
2. Lacrymosa by Evanescence is one of my other favourite songs.
3. Lacrimosa by Kalafina is another of my favourite song.
Not related to the book you say? Well, I'd read a book for strangest reasons because I'm weird like that.

Sometime it’s really hard to convey our feeling in few words. This book bewitched me from the very moment I first read the book blurb.
It’s been three thousand years since the fall of Azzaziel and the rebirth of evil; He has been creating army of unholy intending to defeat the angels and rule the earth. It’s been three thousand years since Sentinels, a group of worrier angels, are hunting down the dark creatures. Five hundred years old Nessy is one of the best sentinels, she never mistakes, never...more

Okay I seriously hate to start a review like this but OMG!!! Seriously this book blew me away!! I was amazed at the amount of emotion there was and yet it didn't take away from the story. I am still (4 days later) having issues getting past just writing sentence after sentence of wow! I went into this book with fairly high expectations. That is not typical of me at all but high expectations and all this book blew me out of the water. Yes, you have your Angels that are here to vanquish the evil,...more
I consider myself extremely lucky to have been one of the first people to get to read this novel. It blew me away and completely changed the way I think about angels and demons. This novel is for anyone who loves rich story telling that engages the reader on a deep level and keeps them coming back for more. LOVED it!
Not sure what to write about this book, but how much I loved it!! This is a story of redemption, and love, and sacrifices. Most of it is sad. Some of it is happy. And a little bit is tearful. This book drags you in from the first page, and doesn't let you go until the last page. I love Nesy and her fellow angels, and Aydan, but not his followers. I cannot wait for the second book to come out!
What happens when your put on assignment to take out the one you loved so long ago, for Nesy the choice she makes could put those she cares about in danger. Who ever said sending those you love to the after life could be any walk in the park never really thought the task through, sending a Unholy has never been this tough. Aydan gave up what he was along time ago and turned his back on those he served for the love he thought would last forever, until that love was taken from him. He has been an...more

So excited to release the paperback edition of LACRIMOSA. And yes, this is the boy from the backcover of the hardback! And yes, the girl is on the backcover of this book. Clever, yes? LOL!
Aydan is the "UnHoly" who is soon to be Azzaziel's equal if Azza has his way. Nesy is the Sentinel sent by Mikayel to kill him. Somewhere along the way, emotions come into play. Emotions that Sentinels aren't supposed to have. WHAT!?
Throughout the book, Nesy has to fight her emotions for Aydan and still try to kill him to keep all of humanity safe. It's a constant struggle for her. Throughout it all, Mikayel and the Council see everything, yet never once step in.
After reading, Dies Irae (the p...more

Nessy is a Sentinel, an Angel tasked with the job of protecting Heaven and dispatching the Unholy. She has been the best at her job since her training began 500 years ago following her human death. She was the best until she meets Ayden the worst of the Unholy a Fallen Angel who feeds off human souls. I’m not really sure how I feel about this book. I enjoyed it…it was a quick, fun read, but I wasn’t wowwed (is that a word? – Wowwed?). Anyway, the two main characters kind of annoyed me – their emotions were all over the place. One minute Nesy is dead-set on killing Aydan – “I’m a Sentinal, we don’t get emotional, we don’t hesitate, blah blah” - and the next minute she’s making out with him and has completely forgotten about everything else that’s going on and all the things Aydan has done. Yea...more

I honestly find myself with very conflicting emotions as to what to write in my review and how to rate the book.. I settled for three stars though for the following reasons -
First and foremost, what compelled me most to read Lacrimosa was that very intriguing and compelling blurb. I know that the concept of angels and such in books is old news but Ms. Fonseca's Lacrimosa...more

Wow. How can I write a review after reading this book? I can't find the words to describe it. But I'll give it a try.
Okay. This book caught my eye six months ago when I first saw its cover. THIS COVER I loved it. And the title. THIS TITLE It took my heart away. I had a feeling about this book. I was certain as I fell in love with the cover I would fall in love with the content. I guessed correctly.

4.5 stars! (They need to add half stars.)
After reading Dies Irae, I knew I wanted to read Lacrimosa. The dual POV between Aydan and Nesy was done perfectly. Their dynamic and the way their feelings come into play in direct conflict with what they are supposed to do is only enhanced by being able to see each character's perspective. Really I couldn't decide who I liked better, and considering one is an angel and the other is a demon, that's says a lot about Fonseca's ability to create great char...more

You are instantly pulled into a scene where a girl named Nesy is hunting down someone. You find yourself being lured in further by the angel/demon aspect of this book. You'll be enraptured by all the action and romance along with it. Another fact about this book that makes it alluring to readers is the different points of views. This helps readers understand what certain characters are feeling and what is going on when another character isn't around. What makes this even more captivating about t...more

Full of thrill, suspense and romance. This is the type of novel that grabs you and holds you tight!
We're introduced to Nesy, a Sentinal which means an angelic warrior who fights the Unholy monsters that feed on the souls of humanity.
We also meet Ayden, an Unholy that Nesy is hunting at the beginning of the book. The encounter sparks what happens to the rest of the book!

Tell me about the plot...
Nesy is a Sentinal, a warrior Angel who serves Mikayel. She’s the best at the job. And she gets one of the most important missions for a Sentinal: to vanish the UnHoly one.
Aydan is the Dark One’s apprentice. He feeds on humans souls to feed the rest of the Dark Creatures.
But they’re more than that, they both share a common past and when they meet again, everything they fought to forget comes back.

A good teen read!
Lacrimosa juxtaposes the povs of Ayden and Nessy. Ayden is an UnHoly led by Azza (the numero uno fallen angel). Nessy is a Sentinel, fighting the UnHoly. As the story develops, the reader discovers that these two have a past (love of your life), and they thought that each other was no longer in the world. So, for centuries they recreated themselves to fit into the roles of UnHoly and Sentinel. Just as they are ready to move on with these roles, they discover one another.

Ok soooo,
This book was pretty good over all. It had some flaws though. I really enjoyed how the author showed the point of view of both characters but i couldn't decide if I liked the main characters or not. I mean don't get me wrong, I tried to, but their emotions were just all over the place!! Ok, they were in love in the past, but Nesy was completely blinded by it. She would mess up, Zane would yell at her, then she would be empty of all emotion. Then, when she saw Aydan, she would completely...more

this book is amazing.^0^
the characters, the plot, the story are very good.
the idea of the multiple narration is great and suits the idea of the novel.however, i would prefer using the past tense instead of the present narration.
the story is very spacial, and the idea about loving the same person all over again with out knowing him is great.
the language is very easy and simple, which is what i prefer.
and the demonstration of the dialogue on the novel is very nice.i lo...more

Nesy is a 500 year old Sentinal Warrior Angel whose job is to track and banish evil UnHoly creatures from Earth, protecting the humans. Problem is, her latest assignment turns out to be Aydan- the love of her life when she was human and before she became an Angel. If she kills him, it's like killing a part of herself. If she doesn't, she is dooming the entire world and allowing Azzaziel, the leader of the UnHoly to gain a foothold on Earth. What a choice...

Wow... I enjoyed this story so much more than I was expecting to. Oh it broke my heart, but left me with hope for the next book in the series (so glad there is more to come). This is really a beautiful story of self sacrifice and love. Nesy and Aydan have a love story the resembles Romeo and Juliet, a forbidden love that is destined to end badly. So many thoughts going through my head I really just don't know where to start... What got me is how would you feel if you had to kill the love of your...more

Thought I was going to be disappointed with this book as it didn't start of very strongly. It confused me a lot at the beginning and I had to keep checking back making sure I was on the right track. After the first couple of chapters though I ended up really enjoying it. I think I was having a simple day and just about everything confused me. This book is a twist on the usual Lucifer falls from heaven and Michael's the only one who can defeat him, which could have gone very, very badly. This how...more
