Frags is the sequel to Gamers, a book I recently reviewed. It continues to follow the adventures of a former high school student as she traverses a post-apocalyptic dystopian world in search for information that will help her locate her friend, Zaela. Gabby, the heroine of the series and her new friend Mouse have joined the Frags, a disparate group of survivors who operate in the wilderness of the GSA. Together they make a break for the Freelands with the hope that others who have escaped the GS...more
At the end of the first book, Gamers, Gabby finds out her best friend Zaela lost the Final Raid and is now being shipped off ... but Gabby doesn't know where. As she's running to get into a FunCar, the Frags send a FunCar to intercept her. She gets in and is quickly followed by Mouse, another LifeGamer. Once they're in the FunCar and it's on its way, Gabby finds out the Frags are bringing her and Mouse to where the Frags are and not to rescue Zaela.

In full disclosure I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. A big thank you to the author for doing this!

"Frags" by Thomas K. Carpenter is the sequel to "Gamers" a book I have previously read. It continues the entertaining and fast paced adventures of former High School student, Gabby as she attempts to locate her friend Zaela who was taken away at the end of the first novel by the GSA government. Together with the members of Frags, a group of people who have tried to escape the GSA and the LifeGame, they flee into the Freelands. There, they hope that others who have escaped from the GSA will be ab...more
Frags was a perfect sequel to Gamers.
Without giving away spoilers to either this book, or its prequel, Frags follows the main character, Gabby, and a group of other, extremely interesting kids who have a mission to complete in order to save one of their own.
The creativity in this story is great, and the description will put you right in the middle of the story.
I love that the main character remains true to her character, regardless of the crazy hurdles and plot twists that get dropped on her al...more

i received this book as a consolation for the first book. i was really unhappy with the writing in Gamers and wanted a refund. to my surprise, the author contacted me, offering just that, and apologized, but said he has taken steps to improve his writing in the second book. i thought it would be better to give this book a chance than to get a refund for the first book...i mean, hey, what better praise for a novel can you get, than winning over someone that couldn't stand the first one?

Frags picks up with Gabby living with the Frags and trying to find out what happens to the contestants that don't beat LifeGame. In particular, she’s trying to find her friend Zaela, who has disappeared without a trace when she did not receive a high score in LifeGame. Now Gabby has become the (reluctant) leader of the Frags, and is leading the effort to find the missing contestants. The journey is long and difficult, and often brings unexpected surprises along the way. With every horrific disco...more
This was a GoodReads First Reads book giveaway.
When I read the first book in this series (Gamers) I found that there was very little in the way of character or plot development. The story was too fast paced and I was not able to get a good handle on the setting. Frags kicked the plot up to an even more hectic pace... and not in a good way. The story raced along and my interest level dropped lower and lower. I don't care about the characters. A cliffhanger is not enough to induce me to read the n...more
