Sparks fly between virgin teenage demon hunters when the Chosen One turns out to be the Chosen . . . Two?

Apprentice warrior Blake St. Blake is the Chosen One, raised by an ancient order to defend the world against evil. Well, maybe not the whole world, but at least his neighborhood in downtown Detroit. When a dreaded reflux demon is sighted in a local cemetery, Blake is se

I have a feeling that this is going to be a love it or hate it type of book.

This was my first book by this author and I don't think that her style is to my taste. The comedy didn't land with me- it felt sort of forced and awkward. I had to push myself to finish it and it is only 45 pages. I love humorous books but this wasn't my type of humor.

I wish that I like it more because the cover and blurb really grabbed me. Oh well.

Chosen warrior Blake St. Blake is off on his first real mission. Trained since birth to fight demons in defense of the innocent of Detroit, he is now ready to take on an acid-spitting reflux demon at the local cemetery. But just as Blake is ready to do battle, out comes another demon hunter claiming to be the Chosen One as well, a wizard named Shadow. As Blake and Shadow argue about which one is the most chosen Chosen, the demon makes
With a name like Blake St. Blake, how the hell can I not love this cute and funny story. Blake the demon slayer out on his first mission to rid the world of evil, with his well practiced lines and sword skills (not that sword, get your mind out of the gutter). He is also the chosen one, destined to save the world, but first he has to figure out this whole demon-slaying thing.

When an acid spitting demon shows up at the cemetery, he is patrolling. Blake is ready to put his skills to the test. Just
This was hilarious if you've watched all the Buffy and Angel episodes as many times as I have.

I've given this a five on pure enjoyment factor alone. Its probably more of a 4 star story but I giggled and laughed out loud to myself all the way through. The humour reminded me of Joss Wedon in Buffy mode! I loved the twist, and the budding romance between these two ' chosen ones ' was sweet and at times adorable. I can't see anybody not being charmed and amused by these two apprentice demon hunters. One of them is a bit of a wanna be gangsta whilst the other is all 'lord of the rings' and th ...more

Blake St. Blake is a novice demon slayer who lives in Detroit, Michigan. He’s finally of age and ready to slay his first demon, so off to the cemetery he heads. Sure enough, straight from the portal of Hell, a big, nasty, slimy, acid-belching demon makes his appearance.

Blake’s been taught all his life that he is the Chosen One, and his destiny is to rid the world of evil. So he’s shocked (and a little pissed) when he discovers that he is not the only demon slayer on the planet. Another

This is a light-hearted humourous look at the demon hunter trope. Blake is heading out on his first solo demon hunt now that he’s of age, when he runs into another demon hunter/wizard. They have words because Blake always was led to believe he was the only one in the world. While the two teens are busy squabbling over who is or isn’t the rightful Chosen One, the demon escapes. Despite the suggestion by his guardian that he team up with Shadow,
Storm Grant is an author known for nicely blending humor and romance and in her upcoming release Few Are Chosen that blend continues to be perfect. This may be a short story but it's long on entertaining characters, witty dialogue, humor, and fast-paced action. From start to finish the reader is drawn in and on the edge of their seat to see if our heroes succeed.

For Blake St. Blake life is all about training and trying to live up to being the "Chosen One". He visualizes himself as a character fr
Few Are Chosen is a delightfully campy homage to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the m-m romance genre. This novelette was a fun, quick read with plenty of humor and teenage angst. While the story line of Few Are Chosen was pretty predictable, the writing was enjoyably quirky.

If you're not into the blunt, matter-of-fact writing that is typical of the parody genre, don't read this book. If, however, you are a fan of parody, Buffy and the m-m romance genre, you'll likely enjoy this quick read and hop

Really liked this! Very humorous and light-hearted with hints of greater depth that would reveal itself with maturity. But I loved going back in time to that crazy age when I wanted to go against the whole world (well, I still do, but I have developed more effective tactics *eg*)! And those moments of uncertainness about the new relationship... so adorable! And hot. :D
Ooh, and the demon!! He was the best. He made me laugh, poor creature. *g*

Well, what can I say? I loved this story! ^^

I enjoyed this short story so much :D Its funny, it has action combat, two adorable twinks, and a big not-so-bad demon.
If you are looking for a lighthearted short story (less then 80 pages) with MM Romance (and yes a MM intimacy scene is included) then this story would fit the need nicely.
3.5 stars

Cute, fun and over-the-top story about two "Chosen Ones" destined to fight demons. A light read for dark, winter days. It won't change your life, but it will entertain you and that is really the only thing that matters. ^^

Just felt like it was trying too hard to be clever, and I found myself unable to become immersed in the story or the characters.
Sure, this might seem like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but Storm Grant makes the concept fresh and very, very funny. Loved it.

This was funny! Blake is a hoot and Shadow is great. Really enjoyed it!

Cute YA story.

I read this right after I finished Jim Butcher's latest entry in the Dresden Files, Cold Days. Blake, the apprentice swordsman, goes through the story wearing a black leather duster, because he thinks it's what a cool "Chosen One" should be wearing. This is in spite of the fact that Harry Dresden does NOT fight with a sword, and that it's way too hot in Detroit in the summer (or Harry's Chicago for that matter) for a leather duster to be reasonable fightin

This was a fast and cute story with a lot of humor. It made me chuckle many times because the narrator, Blake, is so caught up in the moment that he constantly misses the big picture. What I liked is that I never knew how seriously I should take what was going on with Blake, especially his enhanced powers. His meeting with Shadow, who is his opposite in many things, unsettles him, takes away his conviction he is special and unique, and it sparkles a little rebellion. With insecurity comes also a ...more

Few Are Chosen by Storm Grant is a short story about apprentice warrior Blake St. Blake and apprentice wizard Shadow. Both are the Chosen One’s raised by two different ancient orders to defend the world against evil. When a reflux demon is sighted in a local cemetery, Blake is sent off to his very first battle, armed with his sword, his super-senses and a few well-rehearsed one-liners. Yet Shadow gets in Blake’s way. While the boys argue about who’s the more chosen of the two, the demon escapes. ...more
This was a cute, short, VERY humorous read about teenagers: the whole eye-rolling, know-it-all, "I can do it myself already. Just how old are you? Thirty-five?" experience, with a fantasy twist. I was grinning and laughing the whole way through this one.
Short, somewhat absurd, and highly entertaining! I rather enjoyed this.
Really good read. Would like to read about further demon slaying.

REVIEW: CAMPY FUN! If you liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer, you will laugh and enjoy this campy little story! The Chosen One runs into ANOTHER Chosen One, and while that may be disconcerting, at least he is cute... and well, looks very kissable. Will these two male Chosen Ones choose each other as partners against evil? Or, as partners of an entirely differen

Blake is the Chosen One, blessed with extra strengths to fight the evil that invades his city. On his first ever mission to the cemetery on a recon he meets a reflux demon and another young man who claims he is the Chosen One and during their battle of words the reflux demon slips away. Rather than be angry as the loss of his kill Blake discovers an attraction for the apprentice wizard, Shadow, and can't help thinking that maybe having a partne

I liked the concept of this novella. It is cool to see gay characters take the lead in a paranormal fantasy novel. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. It was done very basic and didn't turn out to be that unique. There are many cliches, but you should go into reading this knowing it is very lighthearted.

Maybe this is just because the story is so short, but I didn't feel this story was fully fledged out. I ha

Blake is the chosen one and he is sent to check on a demon and report back but leave it to him to attempt to take care of the demon without orders. It was then that Shadow showed up planning to do the same thing because he too, is the chosen one. The boys must work together to banish the demon back to where it came from but can they manage to work out differences to do it?

Short, fast and funny. I couldn't help but laugh out loud a couple of times especially at how Blake and Shadow talked around

"the chosen one" is shocked to learn there are more "chosen ones" out there, all specialising in a different skill, after meeting a fellow "chosen" while out hunting a demon. unbeknownst to them, their mentors formed an elaborate set-up in which they aim to have the two young chosen ones join forces & work together to rid the earth of unearthly beings.

the end result is something neither the mentors nor the students were expecting from a routine demon banishi
