I read this book while in the comfort of our local hospital as our oldest daughter was recovering from complications after her 2nd open heart surgery. In hindsight, I believe it was the only thing keeping me sane and holding me together. I have wonderful 'heart mom' connections locally, but it isn't always easy to express OUT LOUD what we are thinking, feeling, or fearing. Amanda gives the gift of relatability in a time where it is needed it most. I highly encourage ANYONE to read Heart Warriors...more

For me, this was a tough read -- but let me quickly clarify that and tell you that any book, especially a memoir, that talks about the suffering of children is a tough read for me. That being said, I did enjoy Heart Warriors.
The author, Amanda Rose Adams, shares a very real and personal experience with the reader. She is a woman committed and driven to holding onto hope and finding help for her son, Liam, who was born with congenital heart disease. But...more

This book is fantatic and a 'must read'. Amanda bears her soul to tell her story about her son, Liam and their walk down the road of Congenital Heart Disease. My own family is walking that road with my son. This book really touched my heart. Thank you SO much for writing a book that all of us heart parents can relate to. Thank you for making me see and understand things I wasn't able to understand; especiallly regarding anticipatory grief, the acceptance dance, and the chronic illness dance. Thi...more
I appreciated Amy Adams and her account. She valued her son Liam's life enough to give birth to him even though he had only half a heart and a long road of illnesses and surgeries. She is a true warrior, sharing her experiences with other Heart Moms and dads and educating the public - and she is a native Coloradan.

Amanda Rose Adams is disturbed by Goodreads "date of death" selector on her author configuration page, but she understands the point of it. Despite frequent accusations of being "deep," Amanda is actually pretty funny, or at least she hopes she is.
