A really fast read, with an enjoyable story line and interesting characters you already love. It is fascinating how Engler combines a younger version of Arthur, history and magical myths into a story that will reach readers of all ages. I do realize that this book is written to captivate younger readers, the character development and in depth details that I’m use to would bore the younger audience… That being said, I did find that it had enough framework to keep me interested.

I won this novel from the Goodreads Giveaway.

At first I found the pacing a bit slow. I was hard to feel connected to the characters. Once Arthur was introduced the pacing picked up. I am not sure if this is the writing style or my lack of background knowledge on pure-druid England.

In The Forgotten Isle, Arthur is transported back in time to help out. Bronze age people under attack by demons from the underworld. L.E Engler's writing style is simplistic and easy to understand which is a plus for...more

***I received this book from the Goodreads First Reads program***

Let's start with the positives and work our way from there. Ms. Engler -- thank you for taking part in the first reads program to try and get your work out into the public to garnish reviews. I admire anyone who can go through the process of writing a book, managing to get it published, and then releasing it to the critical public. For that, I admire and thank you.

In my first library science class they taught us "every book its rea...more

I won this book from a giveaway on Goodreads.

I just got this book in the mail earlier today and I finished it in about two and a half hours. This book was intended for a younger audience. The plot was interesting but, when I read this book I felt the story was very rushed. The story did not explain things further than what it should have done and a few loopholes that didn’t make sense.
I did not care for the ending. I mean, when Dis didn’t take back minions at the bronze circle then a five days l...more

This book was great! I understand it was probably written for someone in their early teens, but I really enjoy stories about Merlin. I am never able to find enough about his childhood.

The writing and descriptions were great. It dragged me in from the first page. Even though this was a novela it was stil wonderfulul. I would definitely recommendnd this book.

I was so lucky to win this in a goodreads first reads giveaway! The Forgotten Isle is a middle grade book about King Arthur before he was king, when he was just a boy of twelve. He is swept back in time to try to help the people of Finias from the Bronze Age defeat the evil Kulluck creatures. I appreciated how two boys, Arthur and Taran, from two completely different time periods, worked together and became friends. Reading about their friendship was wonderful. I loved this book and read it quic...more
