The concept is brilliant: specific sites to see associated with periods of London history. The arrangement is clever, the illustrations are charming. But for a book that purports to contain a lot of history, there aren't any sources or references or documentation. Call me a skeptical old geezer, or something worse, I won't mind, but I'm deeply mistrustful of anything that is just asserted without proof. Excellent information about traveling around London - great historical facts and especially great for things to do with kids. More than just your ordinary guide book. Lots of good background stories. Get this if you are going to London with your family.

I know technically this was a children's book, but this was a perfect way to start learning about London and it's history. I really enjoyed all of the random fun facts.

This very interesting book is aimed at children, but adults will get a lot out of it as well. My main criticism is that the illustrations are children's drawings, and most of them are ugly. I think that art in children's books should be something for them to admire and strive toward, not something they can do better than.
Chapters are: Random facts about London; History) Roman London; Saxon & Viking London; Medieval London; Tudor & Elizabethan London; Stuart London; Georgian & Regency

It took 3 check outs from library but I finally read all. I love London so this book of facts and trivia about London was fascinating for me. I'll be looking for places and things mentioned in book on my next visit to London.

Written for kids, but really nicely put together travel book with lots of interesting facts and history. Not your typical adult oriented travel book- in a good way

Excellent companion to any travel guide; an easy-to-absorb history and full of interesting facts about London. Written for youth but great for adults too.

Not as much PRESENT info on London, but loads of historical stuff. Decent for book research, but not for travel.
