A rolling blanket of thick, purple storm clouds -- which some call The Vampire's Shroud -- overshadows the mythical city of Los Angeles, California, yet not one drop of rain is anywhere to be seen. In the County Morgue lay the bodies of murdered young women, garlic and Crucifixes resting upon each bloodless form. Something is loose in the City of Angels, and the police are ...more

In his book, The Darkness Did Not, author William L. Biersach brings to the adult reader an urban fantasy thriller.

When suddenly corpses of young women with their bodies drained of blood start to accumulate in the morgue, the police are perplexed and extremely afraid. The police seek the assistance of Father John Baptist, a detective-cop-turned-priest, known for his sharp intuition and ability to discern the killers' mind to help them stop the vampire serial killer.

An excellent follow-up to The Endless Knot. This book came out right around all the hype about Twilight was really reaching a fevered pitch. I loved it because of the absolutely brilliant story telling, plot progression and characterization. As well as the truly creepy moments that had me literally glued to this book from start to finish. It's an excellent read! Great for anyone who has an interest in a rollicking roller coaster of a mystery!

The second in the Father Baptist mysteries. This one involved vampires (don't worry, real ones, not the sparkly kind). This is one of those series that make you anxious as you get closer to the end of them because the books are so good and you don't want the series to end. The story is smart, fast-paced and full of the "sensus catholicus" that I've been looking for.

“This cassock, I admit, is in need of repair," he said, straightening. "But am I really so prolix?"
"Heavens no, Father," I reassured him as I dug deeper into the carton. "The priest described on that page is merely a fictional contrivance. The fact that he talks like you is completely coincidental."
"Then I do talk like this?"
"Oh no, Father. You talk like you."
"Hmm.”
