AAAAAAGHH!!!!!
I LOVE MANGA! LOVE IT! Like there was a time in my life where all I read was manga. And all I thought about was manga. And all I talked about was manga.
And now? Not as obsessed. But still so very obsessed.
I STILL LOVE IT! I still read manga a lot.
So, here's my favorite book series, being turned into a manga series!
Like, can you imagine JUST how happy I am right now?
REALLY happy. REALLY REALLY happy. Like I could go on.

Review to come soon.
Gah, Magnus isn't what I imagined him to look like, but this is Victorian times, so he probably looked a lot different than modern day.
Pre-review:
I'm actually crazy excited for this, because I'm obsessed with manga and Jem.
I actually had a conversation with a friend once saying how bloody amazing it would be if an animated Japanese or Avatar-style looking Infernal Devices TV show was released.
Or, you know. A manga. Eeeeeeeeee.
MY CALLS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED.

Oh, my god. They're so hot!!! I didn't think they could make Will or Jem look hotter than Magnus Bane, but they've managed it! *sobs* I LOVE THIS SERIES TOO MUCH FOR MY OWN GOOD!!!
I don't read a lot of manga. I'm not entirely sure why. I absolutely love the art style and reading a novel in graphic novel style is fun and quick! Plus, it just gives a whole new idea to scenery and characters and action that you might not get with your own imagination.
The Infernal Devices is one of my favorite series. I love the Mortal Instruments, but this story set in the late 19th century is wonderful! I like the characters better, the setting better, the plot-line better. It's all just wo...more

I got this book through GR free. Thank you Cassandra Clare. I've never read Manga until now. Clockwork Angel's characters are deliciously frightening. The art is impeccable. As hard as I tried reading this book in one sitting, I could not. Clockwork Angel is best read in stages. After you have read a chapter, sit back and breathe in the essence of the plot. And the plot does thicken! This book is full of passion. There is a mention of "dalliance" between the main characters. Cassandra Clare, I a...more

Truth, I love manga but hate books adaptation into graphic novels. You have the feeling the author is mocking you by creating new extras which are completely useless, except with Clockwork Angel.
The Infernal Devices is a fantasy streampunk series which took place in London. Every of these elements are accurate and fit very well with the manga style. Those who read Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler in english) know what I'm talking about.

Tessa Gray thought she was starting a new life in London, but she never thought things could go so horribly awry. Not long after she arrives in London, she is kidnapped into London’s Downworld. Downworld is the sordid supernatural underbelly of London, filled with vampires, werewolves, and people called Shadowhunters. Tessa learns that she has been taken to be the bride of someone called “the Magister.” A couple of young Shadowhunters came to her rescue and took her to recover at a place they re...more
Clockwork Angel the Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare is one of the best prequel books I have ever read. Apart from her previous works, The Mortal Instruments; The Infernal Devices trilogy follows the story of Tessa who arrived in London to live with her brother. Things take an unexpected turn when she is kidnap by two people known as the dark sisters. There she is forced to shape shift into London’s currently murdered girls. Will helps her escape and she is then taken to the shadow hunter’s i...more

Infernal Device fans will enjoy this adaption of Cassandra Clare's The Infernal Devices: Clockwork Angel. Really I should say, "Will and Jem in magna form, need I say more", and be done with my review. haha. I don't know what it is about seeing my favorite characters illustrated, but man it made me sigh over the Jem scenes and want to slap Will up side the head and tell him to just kiss Tessa already. Oh yes, wait till you read/see their kissy moments. These scenes will have you sighing...more

This adaptation of Cassandra Clare's Clockwork Angel has been highly anticipated by fans worldwide, and I was no different. But I'm always wary of graphic novel adaptations of my favorite novel series, because a lot of the time the story becomes too watered down to be truly enjoyable. I've found that many adaptations published by Yen Press are very well done and the story retains its original depth. I didn't feel like I was missing anythi...more

I gave it a 3 stars up there, but really it should be 3.5.
For fans of the book, this is a great bonus. You get to revisit the story without having to re-read the novel (which is great if you're pressed for time)- hell, it even helped me come up with this theory! http://wingedwalls.tumblr.com/post/37... (potential spoilers for the next book, ye have been warned). The graphics are extremely good, the boys as pretty as they get (and I'm picky). Mind you, the Victorian geek that I am feels the need...more
I'm giving 4 (more 4.5) stars because I found the book a bit better. But I really loved this graphic novel!
The drawings are wonderful, the characters are gorgeous (except Henry, wtf is this face? I know he's not a gorgeous man in the story but I was shocked by his face), Will, Jem and Tess are perfects tho, *sighs* Will *giggles*
I was sometimes disappointed by the looking of the scenes, but it's only my opinion.

I love anything by Cassandra Clare. In fact, I've made it my life goal to read everything she's ever written, as well own everything. I love how my favorite series of hers is now a graphic novel, see how the characters could look. In face, I always thought that the Silent Brothers wore hoods, but it makes so much more sense that they don't, which I now can understand by visually seeing them in this graphic novel. I honestly loved it. I prefer the actually novel-who doesn't-but this was a fun add...more
I've already read the book, but there's something about manga that makes the story fresh again. I read someone else's review that it wasn't worth the price because it was in black and white, but this is pretty normal for manga, so if you're all about color, then this might not be for you. I actually liked that it was black and white, but maybe because I plan on using this book for helping me in my sketches.

This novel is particularly well-suited to a manga-style adaptation. It easily seems like it could have been its original format. In fact, I think I might have enjoyed this adaptation more than the original novel. The source material is very visual with its fantastic creatures and fight scenes and I enjoyed seeing Baek's depictions of the scenes and characters (and their pretty, period costumes!) I like Clare's novels more for their plot than their prose anyway so I didn't mind the clipped versio...more
I have not read the novel version of this book so it was a little weird to read the graphic novel first. It was a little harder to get a handle on the story and who everyone was at first (a lot of times everyone in graphic novels looks the same to me). I think the story would have been more confusing if I hadn't already read the Mortal Instruments series. There were a lot of things that weren't explained that would be confusing if you had no familiarity with either the Mortal Instruments of the...more

Fun way to revisit the story. I'm not sure I would have understood what was going on in some parts if I hadn't already read the book, though. I'll have to quiz the kid at the library who read this before me. I'm pretty sure she didn't read the novel. I liked the way most of the characters were drawn, with the exception of Charlotte and Henry, who looked like a doll and a clown to me. Maybe it's a manga thing I don't understand. Still, I enjoyed this and I'm up for more.

This was a great adaption of the book!
Will and Jem both looked adorable and the drawings captured their personalities really well. Tessa was drawn really beautifully. Having read the book, it was awesome to see the scenes played out in drawings. I didn't mind how some drawings were more cartoonish because it was always the scenes that were meant to funny, and it made them all the more humourous. However I didn't like how Henry was drawn, as it made him look stupid when he's not.

I love manga and I love The Infernal Devices!
I really enjoyed the manga! It was so cute! Although it did leave some things out and just focus on the main storyline. I think that it's best to read the actual book first before reading the manga, but it was a quick easy read and the pictures were well done. Some of the pictures made Will and Tessa look like little children though, and they all had the same look to them with different hair colour or clothes. But then again, this would be one of the first manga books I've ever read.

This definitely doesn't make me want to read the original story that this is based on. In fact, I had been considering reading the novel, but this has convinced me not too. Not that it was horrible, but it focused way too much on the potential relationship between the main girl and one of the two main guys. I was much more interested in the paranormal aspect that it didn't focus on. Soulless by Gail Carriger writes a series similar to this (historical paranormal) but she does it much better. It...more

Review Taken From The Pewter Wolf
I heard rumours that there will be graphic novels of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments coming out (perfect tie in for the upcoming movie that's coming out next year). But it was only recently that I realised that Cassandra's Infernal Devices series were being turned into manga (I believe it was Mundie Moms who filled me in so thank you). So, imagine my surprise when I got a parcel from Atom & Orbit and the manga Clockwork Angel was in it with other goodies...more

I love revisting the Shadowhunter world in any form possible so I was excited to check this Manga adaptation of Clockwork Angel from the library even though I had never had the desire to read Manga before.

This was a great and unique interpretation of Ms. Clare’s wonderfully written novel of the same name. I’ve been reading manga consistently over the past 11yrs and I know a good manga when I see one, and I’m happy to say that this is a GOOD MANGA! It’s not the best I’ve seen, the art work was around a 6 out of 10, but Ms. Baek does a wonderful job of translating the emotions described in the novel and since we all know that not every scene can be included in the finished product, she really did a...more
