This was actually a re-read for me, I'm having a bit of a Lina Townend season at the moment while I have a week off writing before I start my new book. It's a curious thing, but I never quite know what's going on in these books. The baddies are always rounded up in the end but I never really know who they are or what their motivation is other than money of course. Nevertheless, I like this series. In case you don't know it the central characters are Lina Townend and her sort of but not really ...more

Antique dealer Lina has a lot of problems, starting with concerns over the health of her business partner and adopted grandfather, going on to her boyfriend's job, which keeps him in France while she's in England, and ending at the fact that business is down, especially after a new antiques center opens down the road. But everything gets a lot worse when a smarmy stranger demands that she come to work for him full-time. He seems to know a lot about Lina and her background, too, which makes her ...more
I feel like I was missing a lot with this book, but I haven't read the others, so that's probably why.

The only real problem I had with this is that the narrator was reading really fast, which I didn't like. The story itself was OK, although it shared a few story aspects (or it seemed that way to me) with the only other story I've heard by the same author. This is possibly me being too picky, however.

Oh no...I'm not ready for this one to be over!! The next one is not at the library or even in paperback as yet. It has such a unique set of characters you just want to know more and more about their lives. This one ended with a main character in the hospital and going into surgery. How can I wait??? But buying the hardback is just not an option!

I think I've read three of this series now. It feels as if the plot of each book is virtually identical, with the details changed. So while I enjoy reading them, I think I can wait two years or so before reading the next one.
