I won a free copy of this on Facebook, and I always like free books. I follow the author over on FB and on Twitter and was excited to read this. (I also love the fact that he designs all his own covers himself, I wish I could do that!)

It was a great concept but I felt it could have been executed a little better. that isn't my way of saying it was a bad book, far from it. I just feel that the editing needed to be more intensive and the story a little better paced. Most of the story was g...more

I just finished reading "Lumen" and WOW!!! If you love fantasy than this is a must read! Everyone on Templar island has a special gift, and Daniel is about to find out just HOW special he really is. When he is sent to a school to learn to harness and learn to use his powers, the others realize that Daniel has a power that is far superior to theirs, one of legends, and they want it. With the help of Daniel's best friend Jac, they have to battle to keep Daniels powers from falling into dangerous h...more

When I first started reading this book I was not sure how it was going to turn out, I very rarely start a book wondering how it will end but, from the first page I was always thinking to myself, how is this going to end? I have to admit, I do not read a lot of books by male authors, (not by choice it just seems to work out that way) it took me a while to get into the style but once I was there found that the story flowed really well.

Daniel's struggle with his developing talent and skills made my...more

I was given this book in return for an honest review. On an Island apart, lives the people of the Luminary, with abilities and beliefs that humans couldn't comprehend. Daniel is in his final stages of development. In a school where he doesn't belong, he will be enlightened, but not the way he thought. The book has promise, a great story in the making. I loved the idea of the story and the characters. I do, however, suggest an editor and some beta readers in future stories. The book has parts tha...more

First thought after reading was WOW, when can I get the next book? Eventually it sunk in that it wouldn't be out for a while yet. Leaving me imagining the world of adventure that could be undertaken through this amazing series.

When I chose this book to read, I tentatively opened the page without knowing where it would lead me. I didn't read the synopsis or information posted on the book here on Amazon as I would normally do. I chose to purchase it through teasers that were posted on the authors...more

I was unable to put the book down. Read it from 2am until 5am. Woke up and read it until I finished it. Story/plot line was great. Really get a feel for main character.

This book is the start of what could be an amazing series.

Templar Island is hidden away from the world, and each occupant once they have transformed have the ability to manipulate energy. Daniel manages to earn a place at a very prestigious school, but once there he learns that jealously could quite literally kill.

The main character Daniel has to overcome many obstacles, and really develops and transforms as the story goes on. The story flows nicely, is very descriptive and although I’ve seen...more

I was given this book by the author in return for an honest review.
I found this to be a spell-binding tale from the very start. Daniel has to go through so much in such a short space of time but he manages it! I would love there to be a second book to this as I would love to know what Happens to Daniel as his full powers come into being!

Good read. Interesting plot that keeps you reading. Some grammatical errors and context issues--all minor and didn't interrupt the story. Recommend this book, also recommend following the author.

This book is completely fantastic. In two ways. First off, it is an amazing read. I was pulled into the story by the first few paragraphs. Secondly, the world the author has created was both fascinating and terrifying. The things Daniel experiences while on the island are horrific, but ultimately I think he'll be stronger for it in the books to come. I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment! This is a great read. Go buy it now!

A great fantasy book with plenty of power and transformation. The character Daniel has a lot to learn and discover throughout this book and comes across some very deceptive characters. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend this book to everyone and I am very excited to read the following books in this series.

Daniel lives on Templar island, where everyone is unique and magical. You follow Daniel through his transition and into an exclusive school. Cute story, reminded me of Harry Potter with the magic and school. I am not big on this kind of story but it did hold my interest for the most part. WaAR

This is my novel, so I guess I have to give it 5 stars. It's obviously worth each star ;p

Like all books it has its faults, but I hope they don't make it a dire read LOL
