A beginning gardener, or someone interested in a variety of homespun vegetable recipes will find this an easy, relaxing read. I paged through more than I genuinely read it, and in doing so picked up some bits of trivia (e.g., the introduction of certain vegetables to North America, folklore about companion plants, etc.). The writing moves rather slowly for me, with a great deal of detail about the author's family history of gardens, their specific locations on a site, etc. It reads neither like ...more
