Simple, straightforward, and easy to read. So encouraging, and such a good exhortation! Almost like a really wonderful conversation with a good friend.
I have been surprised how deeply encouraging this book has been to me. It is essentially all about the importance and potential for reading Scripture with your children. I found myself nodding my head enthusiastically while reading it, and then later wondering why it seemed so unusual. It made me realize that I can't really think of any real-life...more

I was not crazy about this book, while the premise is good, that you and your children can get a lot out of reading the Bible together, it seemed like the book was just a super long plug for a bunch of other books or programs.
Other than telling us stories about her journey of reading the Bible to her kids, it mostly just advocated other programs. I do not agree with reading an adult Bible to little children, they...more

Carrie Ward had tried several times over the years to read the enire Bible. In Together: Growing Appetites for God, we get to go along on the journey as she does what I would have personally considered impossible: reads the enire Bible with her four small children. Great inspiration for learning the Bible and growing closer to God with your children!
This book is a good book for any mother who is trying to decide how to implement Bible reading with her children. The author is funny and gives some great ideas on ways to make reading the Bible interesting for your children. Her personal examples are what make the book worth reading. I enjoyed her sense of humor and also liked her simple ideas. Seeing the effect of reading the Bible with your children is the goal the author asks you to set. Although that sounds easy, after reading this book you...more
This is an excellent book on how to make the Bible a part of your everyday with children. Carrie Ward does an excellent job sharing her experiences of teaching her children how to listen as they eat breakfast and she reads to them from the Bible. She is funny, insightful and encourages moms to persevere in systematically exposing their children to God's Word. Will there be failure at times? Absolutely! Do children sit still all the time and listen patiently? Absolutely not! Ward encourages moms n...more
I enjoyed this book... about a year ago, my son and I read the book of Daniel together (from an 'adult' bible - not a storybook bible).... it was a wonderful experience for us. And a year later, he still surprises me with how much he retains of the book of Daniel. And so it was natural for me to wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to read the entire bible together. But I couldn't really find any testimonies from other parents who did this... and so I put it off...

Excellent book! I really really enjoyed reading it. Such a great reminder of how important it is to read scriptures with your kids and to do it regularly. I loved how she illustrated the benefits and all the fun stories that happened along the way. I'm looking forward to reading the Bible with my young twins at breakfast (which I started this last week. I had been reading about a chapter in the New Testament for my study, so why wasn't I just reading it aloud so my kids could benefit too?)
I'm inspired. Like the author, I have always struggled with daily devotions, and I think her idea--to read the whole Bible with her very young children--is brilliant (probably inspired, in fact!). This book is half how-to, half memoir; and it was also quick and easy-to-read.
The kiddo and I are starting our journey tomorrow.

This is a great book for moms. It's a fun, quick and easy read. Carrie challenges us as moms to share gods Word w out children every day. I saw a lot of myself in her and was motivated and challenged to read through the Bible w my children. I enjoyed reading the stories of how Gods Word changed and impacted her life and the life of her children.
This is a must read for all moms! Carrie does a great job of encouraging us moms to read God's word and to do it with our kids. I was encouraged and challenged by this book. Carrie calls us to not underestimate the power of God's Word and the importance of teaching the whole counsel of God's Word to our kids.
I thought this was great! She does repeat herself a little, in a way that makes you think that she forgot that she mentioned something before, not repeating for emphasis. But this book is a gem! Every Christian family with children at home should have a copy! I wish that it had been around when I was raising my kids!
