Recommends it for: insomniacs or those who want to self induce mind numbing boredom
Having an early fascination with that glamorous opiate lifestyle of Chinese imperialist courts from Pearl S. Buck and Amy Tan's pages, I thought I had hit the jackpot when this book was dropped into my hot little hands. My first prejudice was noting the spelling of the British tell tale realise and favourite.

More disappointing, this text came from the early 80's. Worse still was that the book examined the history of opium in Britain exclusively and to really add insult to injury, this tome had...more
