Up until about halfway into the novel, I really enjoyed the interactions between Clarissa and Kit. Clarissa was trying to prevent her younger sister Amelia (thought to be the beauty of her family) from succumbing to Kit, Lord Rasenby's charms, so she could make an excellent match and secure wealth for her impoverished family. Complications arose when Clarissa make a proposition to Kit for the sake of delaying his carte blanche to her sister, all the while protesting her innocence. Kit, however, ...more
A few weeks ago when we were treated to a good amount of snow here in CT I found myself with the perfect opportunity to catch up on some reading! Inadvertently I ended up with a “raunchy romance weekend”, reading a good number of Harlequin romance novels over the course of two days. I guess my brain needed to shut down and veg out. The Wicked Lord Rasenby by Marguerite Kaye fit the bill perfectly, and so I kicked off my weekend.

Clarissa Warrington is the polar opposite of her sister. Poised, hon

Written on omnipresent POV, much like Gorgette Heyer, not a style I readily enjoy. But I found this story quite entertining.

The hero is a rake, and misbehaves "on screen" (rather than having his reputation talked about while on screen he bahaves like a near saint). The hero courts the heroine's sister, offered the younger girl carte blanch - which the sister has not yet accepted hoping to trap the hero into marriage instead.

The heroine knows (based on his reputation) that the hero will never of

Marguerite Kaye is an author who knows her stuff and she never fails to deliver. This is another riveting tale, beautifully written, which draws you into a bygone era as flawlessly as if you had experienced it for yourself. Beautiful manners, decorum, protocols and romance as decadent and wicked as anything you'd find today. The characters in this book are wonderfully crafted, making it almost impossible not to be both enchanted and frustrated by their behaviour at times. A man you would love to ...more

Oh my!! I think I even fell for Lord Rasenby! Really enjoyed this novel, even though the back and forth of it all started to get a little annoying. Nice quick read that had you dying to find out what happened and wishing you could find a wicked lord of your own LOL
I liked Kit and Clarissa's story but the "villain" was really weak. Clarissa's mother and sister made better antagonists than he did.

Not one of the better Harlequin historical romances I've read. I will still try more of Marguerite Kaye's books though. I think it was the storyline and the characters that didn't appeal to me here.

When she’s not writing she enjoys walking, cycling (but only on the level), gardening (but only what she can eat) and cooking. She also likes to knit and occasionally drink martinis (though not at the
