Have you ever played a computer simulated, role playing game for a reeeeally long time and then felt like you have actually lived inside the game? well, that's what happened to Jennet in Feyland, the mystical realm in the top-secret software her father's company is working on.
Jennet snuck into her dads high-tech simulation room to try out the beta version for the game - and after facing and losing to the Big Boss in the questing game, none other than the Queen of the Dark Realm, she begins to re...more

This book has a three and a half for me because the plot and most of the characters were great it was just Jennet that let it down. I felt that she played the damsel in distress one time too many.
Feyland, unsurprisingly, had a very fairy tale theme, being based on a ballad- which worked incredibly well in my opinion. So in theory the heroic knight was a necessary plot element, and Tam himself was a deep and interesting character. If Jennet had been a knight herself or some sort of weapon wieldin...more

I wanted to read this book, because it sounded like an original story. It certainly was an original story and I really enjoyed it. The story really is the best thing about this book.

* Plot: Jennet's father is the head of a computer game development company and Jennet gets to play the beta version of a new extremely immersive game called Feyland. Only thing is, Feyland is a gateway into the realm of the Fae, so what happens in Feyland does NOT stay in Feyland. She loses to the final boss, the Dark Queen, and the old crow takes some of her essence. Jennet needs another gamer in the real world who can defeat her to get it back, or Jennet will die. So, Jennet recruits a kid nam...more
Feyland is based on "The Ballad of Tam Lin," which sounded vaguely famliar to me but I had never actually heard. It was a really cool mix of scifi and fairy tale, which sounds like a weird combination but actually worked and was explained really well.
Jennet and Tam's relationship had a definite princess-and-the-pauper feel to it, which is part of the reason this story had a lot of the qualities of a fairy tale. I thought Tam and Jennet each had well-written family issues, though Tam's were wrapp...more

If I would summarize this book in one word, it would be exciting. Just wonderful read. At first, I was little iffy, since I count so much on the beauty of the cover, but yet again, I was proven wrong. Like most of the time.
The female lead is girl named Jennet. She and her father move to a new city. She's a gamer, and in a lot of trouble after playing Feyland. A game, where fantasy becomes reality. If you get hurt there, you...more

3.5 stars. This story was well written and the author did a great job at maintaining tension right up till the end. The characters felt realistic and the premise was different from most YAs right now (although an oldie like me would be reminded of the Tron movie way back when). I enjoyed this story and recommend it to readers who like gaming and fantasy/fairy books.

This is something for all ages. I could not put it down once I started reading. The story's main characters Jennet and Tam are great. When it comes to mixing Fae lore and video games Anthea Sharp has it down pat!
Jennet Carter, new to town and the local high school most not only face the force of making new friends but force the dark enemies only she has seen. Who would believe her that a video game has taken something from her that can endanger her in the real world?

I got this book from the R2R. Thank you.
This book is good for readers that prefer mystical types of stories that have fairies, elves etc. The beginning starts off very intriguing an suspenseful. I was glued to he book after the 1st chapter because I couldn't wait to see what would happen to the main character. Its an enjoyable book based on ballads and mythical lore. :)

In FEYLAND, we are dropped into the drama from the very beginning. It's like... 'Here's the problem, let's go'. It felt a bit abrupt. I had no time to get to know Jenet, the main character until much later in the story, so I had a hard time connecting. I'm not a gamer, but it was interesting to learn some tech-lingo and seeing what it would be like to play. So even though the story...more

Feyland is a fascinating realm of techno immersion gaming. The main characters are Jennet and Tam.
(For fun, just go look up Tam Linn...you'll be surprised at what you find)
Jennet was a difficult character for me to get to know. I don't have a great deal in common with a young gamer. She is the 15 year old game loving daughter of an electronic executive.
She plays games constantly and has access to the best and the newest games because of her dad's position in the electronics company. She plays a...more

This book puts a whole new interesting twist on paranormal! It takes the age-old folklore of the Fae and wraps it all into a distant futuristic gamer setting. This premise makes for a very intriguing story! The characters have a very realistic type of life, (i.e. rich kid, poor kid) which also makes them easy to relate to. Their background is very well written, giving the reader a good look into why they are how they are. The secondary characters were very good, as well, adding more depth to Tam...more

I don't know about any of you, but one things that I love to besides reading is game. When I saw that this book dealt with pretty advanced gaming technology, I was psyched. The main setting of this novel is the game world. After I read it, I did some research and also found that this book is based off of a Scottish Ballad, Tam Linn. From what I could gather, she did a very good job weaving the two together. I loved this book, and was able to easily finish it in a couple of days. This book was fa...more

Supposedly the latest full-sim game, Feyland is incredibly realistic and it has somehow started to affect real life. After the lead game developer dies jennet kn...more

Feyland: The Dark Realm is pure, delightful fantasy. I thoroughly enjoyed this engaging quest and romance. It blurred the lines between reality and gaming. While I have absolutely no experience playing this type of video game; I have watched enough of my son playing quest games to appreciate the plot and understand the world of Feyland. I love the way in which Sharp weaves fairy folklore and Scottish ballads into this tale.

I received an ARC of Feyland last month for review and I have to say I am impressed with this book. It’s not what I expected, but it was a pleasant surprise.
Jennet is a strong female lead. She is resourceful and tries her best to be brave, even in the face of danger. Tam is brave, stubborn, and a bit impulsive, and just what Jennet needs. Tam’s family life is so diffic...more

Feyland is an intensely creative novel. In the technologically advanced future, Jennet is an avid sim gamer who comes upon an alpha version of a new game her father's company is making. But as she starts playing Feyland, she realizes there is a lot more to the game than meets the eye. When the evil queen steals part of her soul, she needs to find another gamer, a really talented gamer, who can help her battle the queen for her soul.

The book begins by introducing us to Jennet--the daughter of an electronic company executive who has access to the latest gaming technology.
