Big trucks, small trucks, dump trucks, tow trucks, and all kinds of other trucks can be found in this playful touch-and-move book. A backhoe scoops and digs, a cement truck spins, a tar truck oozes sticky tar, and tabs pull up and out to reveal surprises. The trucks eventually slow down for a rest, where little hands can lift the flaps to see animals snuggling up for sleep...more

My son and I read and reviewed this book for Mother Daughter Book Reviews. Here's what we thought:

SON SAYS:

This book is all about trucks. I love the cover and the pictures inside the book because you get to bounce them, lift the flaps, turn them, slide them, and pull them. It's a lot of fun. I love everything about this book because I can play with it, but my favorite page is the "tar page" because it's really sticky. I can turn the page by sticking my finger in the tar. There is nothing I didn'...more

Every once in a while, a patron will ask me, "where are your pop-up books"? My general answer is, "in the trash." Library usage is not kind to pop-up books, and we usually don't even bother adding them to the system.

That doesn't mean we don't LIKE pop-up books, though! One of our favorites at home is a pop-up, interactive version of Going on a Bear Hunt that Great-Grandma sent. That one is kept out of reach of my 1yo, for very obvious reasons. This one is a bit sturdier, though, and since we won...more

If you are a Sue Fliess fan like I am, you will be pleased to hear about her new interactive book Tons of Trucks, which is illustrated by Betsy Snyder. Written in fast-paced rhyme and illustrated with surprises, this book will be a sure winner with the youngest set.

Young children absolutely love to read about trucks and construction equipment. They also love interactive books with plenty of items to explore, move and touch. This book has a wealth of scoops to swing and cargoes to reveal (The tar...more

I had the pleasure of introducing my students to a review copy of Tons of Trucks, by Sue Fliess, illustrated by Betsy Snyder. It was a hit.

The rhythm and rhymes in this book are a pleasure to read,

“Tons of trucks,
before our eyes,
in every color, shape,
and size!
Strong trucks
Big trucks
Scoop and dig trucks!
Old trucks
New trucks
ARMY CREW trucks.”

Every page has a moveable part: a flap to lift, a tab to pull (revealing top secrets in the army truck), and a spinning wheel to turn the tank of...more

Tons of Trucks - book review

This is a beautiful and durable book. It is a wonderful interactive, hands-on book that will surely delight your pre-schooler! The author and illustrator have outdone themselves with excellent illustrations that move, can be pulled, lifted, opened up, swirled and actually touched to make an enjoyable reading "experience" for your children.

The text is expounded in simple rhymes which you know is a hit with kids of all ages! Your child will be excited to discover all th...more

My two year old son LOVES this book! It is the first book he has really gotten into, and is quickly becoming his "velveteen rabbit". We are currently buying a second copy as a backup for when I simply cannot use tape to patch the first up anymore. It has held up very well considering how hard he is on it. The rhyming text is fun to read and the interactive elements are very creative. A great book for introducing a toddler to the joys of reading. I simply wish Sue Fliess had more interactive rhym...more

Lift it, swing it, pull it, spin it. Love it! Meet Tons of Trucks, the latest book from Sue Fliess, author of Shoes for Me! and A Dress for Me!, who has teamed up with illustrator Betsy Snyder. This new interactive board book will be a delight for toddlers and preschoolers who obsess on all things trucks! With a catchy, rhyming text, each page spread has one or two (or even more!) ways for a child to actively engage with the book by lifting, spin...more

This is a fun lift-the-flap, pull-the-lever, turn this or that book full of a variety of trucks. Great for lovers of trucks or even a preschool transportation unit study. My almost preschooler loves it. A good read for anytime to discover more, but also with a certain line this can even be a new favorite bedtime story. Definitely a good gift idea.

*Thanks to HMH for providing a copy for review.*

My toddler loooooves this book. Though he hasn't been kind to it. He is usually good about not ripping his flap books, but he is a babe on a mission with this one.

Cute little book with lots of moving flaps to make for a good story time! Would definitely be the book to bring along when babysitting young children-boy or girl!

This is perhaps the cutest truck book in the history of the world. I have not seen anything so darling for ages!
