This was a very interesting book. It tells the story of the building of the Holland Tunnel beneath the Hudson River, connecting New Jersey and New York. Lots of supporting information and parallels with the recent book I read of the Brooklyn Bridge. Corruption and politics delayed both projects considerably, but stopped neither one. I almost stopped reading this book. The first eighty or so pages is basically a list of committee meetings and appropriation bill. After that it gets better with the ventilation tests and then it gets very good once they discuss the building of the tunnel and the fire that followed. Overall a decent read.
