It's been one year since all the adults disappeared. Gone.

Despite the hunger and the lies, even despite the plague, the kids of Perdido Beach are determined to survive. Creeping into the tenuous new world they've built, though, is perhaps the worst incarnation yet of the enemy known as the Darkness: fear.

Within the FAYZ, life breaks down while the Darkness takes over, lite...more

ok so originally I had a freak out review bc I had just finished Plaque & was pissed that I had to wait for 2 more books to see who lived or died. it was in all caps & was just an over excited fangirl just losing her mind. & also on how much I loved the cover.
Now its April 2, this book comes out tomorrow & I barely remember what happens in Lies & Plaque so I am reading the series again I finished Gone yesterday, & now starting Hunger. Not that any of you care.

POST-READING UPDATE

Hmm... I don't know that I was terribly impressed by the latest installment of the Gone series. I didn't feel that Fear had the driving force of some of the other books in the series; it was more like filler than any of the others. I don't feel like there were any major developments here (other than one that will be omitted for the sake of spoilers. But it wasn't as important as it should have been).

I mean, yeah, the dome started going dark, and sure, there are people on the o...more

I got an ARC so I want to post a review :D

Fans of the Gone series should check out a GONE Fan forum called Enter The Fayz at enterthefayz.com

In a lot of ways, Fear Raises the bar in the series and it makes me excited to see what MG has in store for us in the the final book. In other ways, the book does seem to regress a bit which leads to disappointing moments as well as a few elements that were introduced that sort of changed the story...

Hey guys! I know I'm great, thankyou.;) So here's an excerpt from fear and below are the facts that have been written by MG himself. And below that is my review after I finished this book.

65 hours 11 minutes She wore denem jeans and a plaid flannel shirt over a black T-shirt several sizes too big. A leather belt made two turns around her waist. It was a man’s belt, and a big man at that. But it was sturdy and bore the weight of the .38 revolver, the machete, and her water bottle. Her backpack wa...more

.... wow... that's really all I can say about this book. That and maybe "holy crap". Can't even imagine what the final book's going to entail but I am counting down the days.

OH. MY. GOD. I CAN'T....

'LIGHT' is my most-anticipated book for 2013. Hands. Down.

Hi Guys,
This week I'm going to review Fear by Michael Grant. This is the fifth book in the Gone series. This is one of my favorite book series' ever. I like the plot, the characters, and the dialogue. I got to read this book so early because I was one of the few people to receive an ARC (Advanced Readers Copy), the reason these are sent out are so the publisher and the author get an idea of what the reactions would be. This was the first ARC I've ever received, and I was extremely excited about...more

Michael Grant once again uses that crazy imagination of his to plunge us head-first into another gripping and vivid story. Fear is - fans of this series will be pleased to know - just as entertaining, just as exciting, and just as clever as all four previous books. I had been eagerly anticipating this novel’s release – eager to see what was in store for the characters I had both come to love and hate. I was yearning for another glimpse into the FAYZ and the dystopian world in which Sam, Astrid,...more

I'm not sure how to rate and review this one. I keep wavering between three stars and 4 stars. There was so much I really loved, and there was one thing that drove me completely crazy.

Mild spoilers ahead!!!!

What I've loved about this series since the beginning is the lack of a clear divide between good and evil with the characters. Sure, you have the Gaiaphage which is pure Evil, and you have Drake and Penny, a sociopath and a psychopath. They are definitely evil. But the rest of the characters...more

t's only been a year since I read the last Gone series book. No big deal, right? WRONG. I first got into the Gone series shortly before Hunger came out. I've been a huge fan ever since, and a year between books is a long time to wait.

Thankfully, I was nowhere near disappointed with this latest installment. What really keeps me going with this series is the characters. I genuinely feel like I know them, and I want them to come out on top. Well, except for the ones I don't like. Like, say, Drake....more

I'm really really happy with how Fear turn out. It feels like the story is coming to a close but I wonder what happens when everybody gets out of the FAYZ. (If they get out at all)

Apparently, he changed the title because the title to Fear because “Darkness” wouldn't fit.

*COVER!
I ask this every time a new cover comes out - WHO'S ON THE COVER?!
Also, I really don't like this one, its probably my least favorite. Why is there a smoky thingy going on?

I think this one will top the series as best book next to the final one when it comes out. From what the spoilers say I'm pretty sure there will be a couple huge twists that I won't see coming. It doesn't come out until next year...unfortunately. I don't want this series to end so every day it is ongoing is a good day.

Gosh, I LOVE THIS BOOK. This one and PLAGUE are almost tied as my favorite. I love the darkness element in this one. It was very eerie and exciting. The characters are changing a lot and the plot takes on a new twist from the first four in FEAR. I love these books.

It's been close to a week since I finished Fear and I still can't form a half decent review. I thought I'd write one anyway even though it won't be that great!

In short, I absolutely loved it! The plot isn't as ridiculously shocking as the last couple and is more character driven. Which I absolutely enjoyed after reading and being disappointed by BZRK

I stayed up all night reading it and I'm sure the ending won't disappoint anyone! It'll leave people desperately wanting the next one!

Despite the is...more

These are just things I expect from the story, not bad or good things, just things I guess could happen in the next two books.

Lana has shown a very deep connection between her and her dog Patrick, the bond has been maintained since Gone and I have a very deep fear that Patrick will end up dying in the book. Now, there's no actual logical proof from the previous books that this will happen, rather something that is necessary to happen in the heat of the war, as well as can help in adding more emo...more

Total and brutal mindfuck. Thank you.

I thought things couldn't get any better after PLAGUE. That book seriously wrecked me. It's one of the best books I have EVER read. No kidding.

But Señor Grant delivered another masterpiece with FEAR.

This book blew my mind so much, I can't even properly review this. All coming out of me are incoherent sounds and, oh look! Those are my grabby-grabby hands because I can't wait a whole fucking year for LIGHT!!!!!!

Let me try to review this, see how far I can go...more

This book blew my mind! Even when I think it can't anymore, the FAYZ continues to surprise me. It was just insane; I really do not want to know what goes on in Michael Grant's head!

It amazes me how many things are going on at the same time in this short period of time. There are like 10 different storylines going on. You never have to worry about this book getting boring. You are totally absorbed into the world of the FAYZ. You want to know what crazy thing is going to happen next, why it happen...more
Joy (joyous reads)
Book number five of the Gone series was pretty much everything that I’d expected from Mr. Grant: Heart-stopping suspense in a relentless pursuit to make a basket case out of his readers. Well, you’ve done well, Mr. Grant. Bravo.

The kids of FAYZ have gone into two separate camps; and at the helms of these camps are brothers, Sam and Caine. For the moment, the siblings have come to some sort of temporary peace. But deep into the mine, the gaiaphage is anything but. It is terrified; it wants to ge...more

There are certain books that, if turned into movies, I would never watch. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (which is a movie, actually) is one of them. Rape and torture? Not something I would like to see on the big screen. Fear by Michael Grant is another one of those books. People having their minds ripped apart and their bodies broken and bent and twisted in various ways? Yeah, throwing up is not that high on my list of priorities.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Gone series by Michael Grant. Lik...more

Caine and Diana on the cover. YES.

Those are my two favorite characters in the series, always have been, always will be. Oh, them and Quinn, yah, he's cool too "brah".

These books are so cool, and I can't believe there's a sixth one too! yayyyy! can't wait till this one is released, I wonder what they're gonna do about Little Petey. o.O

haha well anyways, can't wait!

This is a seriously draining series. How in the world can Michael Grant expect me to wait a whole year waiting to find out what happens to Diana?!

HOW COULD HE DO THAT TO DIANA IN THE FIRST PLACE?!

Thoughts to come later. I need to lay down.

Okay, scratch that, there's no way in hell I can't not write a review NOW. So, if you haven't read the first four books in this series (Gone, Hunger, Lies, and Plague) I'd suggest not reading this review, because it may contain potential spoilers - wait, it W...more

12 months after everyone over the age of fifteen disappeared, 9 months since the hunger, 5 months after the lies and 4 months after the devastating plague. The children of the FAYZ are separating to the lake with Sam or remaining in Perdido Beach with Caine as the King. Sam and the lake council are well organizing in the town, but Sam is feeling bored about the fact that nothing dramatic has occured at the lake for four long months. Little does he knew, something far worse than Drake or Caine is...more

Okay, Wow.

That was crazy.

And I mean absolutely bat shit crazy.

Okay, how do I sum up everything I'm feeling right now in only a few short sentences?
I can't. But I'll try.

HOLY CRAP! I love Astrid and Sam and Caine and Dekka and Brianna. They are such great characters and they have all changed and evolved so much since the beginning of this series. I hated Astrid at one point but now I'm back to loving her again!

I will admit, I was a little disappointed when Gaia was born and the Darkness did tak...more

SPOILER ALERT!

This is by far my favorite book in the entire series. Michael Grant has outdone himself with this second to last installment of the Gone Series. After the kids (yes kids. Throughout the series you forget that all the characters are just a bunch of kids) have suffered through so much of starvation, death, and illness, they finally catch a break. They have 4 months of easygoing-no-WhipHand-no-starvation life.

However, even the main characters know the FAYZ won't let them be happy for...more

This book was a really great book. Basically, it was about how the kids of the FAYZ are still trapped and the barrier has started to darken. But the gaiaphage is growing as well. So the people of the FAYZ have to figure out a way to destroy the gaiaphage and try to return light to the FAYZ, because without light the kids can't see and makes it harder on them to figures things out in the book.

I feel the author did a good job on making this book. It was easy to understand and had a very cool way o...more

This book was absolutely amazing! It has taken me forever to write a review because I did not know how to review a book with that many twists and turns. But, I am going to try now. Wish me luck!

Oh dear, oh dear. I am getting rid of this part first because romance is always my least favorite. I would like to thank the author for finally put Sam and Astrid together again. I hated when they weren't together. I am very disappointed though that you did not put Dekka...more

I was born in a manger and grew up in a log cabin where I read law books by firelight. . . Oh, wait, that wasn't me, that was someones else.

I had a hard childhood. Hard for my parents. Not that bad for me. I was an Army brat, moved around a lot. Then I didn't settle down. I just kept moving. Why? What inner turmoil drove me? Mmmm, I gotta say none. I just have a short attention span. Easily bored...more
