I liked this book because it explained a lot about the war and i enjoyed the characters in this book especially the elephant.

I know this book was rather on the younger side and for the younger reader, but Michael Morpurgo is one of my faveourite authors. I got this book as a present for christmas and to be honest it now sits pride of place on my book shelf with all my other Michael Morpurgo's. This book was good because it told a story. A great tale about war striken Germany.
Marlene the elephant gets everyone into trouble,
amd at one stage they nearly get arrested by the Gestapo!
A heartbreaking and heartwarming story.

Michael Morpurgo is the author of many books for children, five of which have been made into films. He also writes his own screenplays and libretti for opera.
