Talk about a life! I would say that Lucy Dakota is a fictional coming of age memoir. Lucy is a young woman with much to learn. The first 50 pages are a quick re-cap of her younger teen years, so many things happened in those pages. Everything that took place had a lesson to be learned, I really like the way the lessons were presented. Once you hit Lucy's older teen years, you can't put the book down, It was definitely a page turner. Lucy Dakota: Rocky Mountain Beginnings does talk about some ...more

Lucky Dakota is a persistent and strong narrator that tells us how she got to where she is today. To me, it seems like a great college entrance essay. Except maybe a bit too long. But we learn how Lucy finds her true self in the things she does. She learns her passion and everything she does leads to more and more adventures.

Reading about her adventures were definitely a blast. After the first few chapters of gaining her confidence, we learn that Lucy joined an outdoorsy type of club, where they

{My Thoughts} - I read this book fairly quickly because it had very easily drawn me into the pages. This in the kind of book that leaves a mark on the reader and one that I will gladly read again and again. I enjoyed getting to know Lucy Dakota. She has a wonderful personality and I found myself being able to relate to her and what she had been through and was going through.

This is a great book for readers that need a pick me up and need to understand that they are capable of doing anything if t

Look out Judy Blume, here comes Lucy!

Lucy Dakota is a shy, introverted gal that takes the reader on a quick tour of her awkward adolescent years, relishing the joys and combating the pitfalls. Sports, puberty, bullies—all things that a kid knows all too well. You’ll be able to relate and will think back to your own childhood.

“Books had always been my sanctuary at home…I could go to my room, shut my door and travel anywhere I wanted with a good book. Books also distracted me from the tortures of

This is a great adventure story and is so unique against a lot of the teen novels that are out there now. Admittedly, the beginning of the book read off a little dry for me and there were some situations that I felt were a little mature for younger audiences (it's recommended 12 and up, which is a very big age jump). Despite these minor qualms, Lucy is such a r

good read about growning up, discovering who you are, what makes you happy, etc. Has some teenage sex/groping scenes that I wouldn't want my 11 yr old to read but the rest is great. I loved the descriptions about outdoor adventures in Colorado.
