The night was thick with them.

Twenty years have pasted since the First Dawn , the day that humans learned that there aren't alone on the planet. That an ancient race of ultimate predators hides in the shadows and its time has finally come. Or has something even more sinister risen to take its revenge??

Twenty years after the defeat of Dragos and coming out to humans; the ‘Order’ and the Breeds are still unable to reach a full accord with humans. There is an accord called the GNC, made up of humans and Breeds, who are attempting to achieve agreements to lead to a peaceful balance and co-existence between the two groups. The peace between them is tentative, and a daily struggle. As the new era of this series begins, Lucan Thorne is preparing for a summit with the GNC that will hopefully bring so...more

Kudos to Lara Adrian for giving this series a breath of fresh air!! I have to admit that I was hesitant to start this book because of the finality of everything in Darker After Midnight. But if you're having any misgivings like I was, there is no need to worry...this book is everything the series was and more!
Of course, it helps for the book to be about Mira and her crazy eyes and visions of the future. I was always drawn to her especially after the way she brought Hunter around. I was in no way...more

Another incredible book to the Midnight Breed series!
EDGE OF DAWN is the 11th book in Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series and this book totally changes the MB world as we know it. Most series when they go on for such a long time and have so many books to a series, they start to lose their gusto and get boring. To much of the same ol', same ol'. But this is definitely not the case with the MB series. Lara Adrian proves she's the rock star of paranormal romance. In a genre that has pretty much see...more

The Midnight Breed series has always been a favorite of mine, so i was really excited when i found out that Lara Adrian was continuing on with more books (especially after the crazy ending in the last book!) ...i'll admit though, that i was also quite nervous when i heard that she was jumping ahead 20 yrs with this one..that's quite a jump! What was to happen to all the beloved characters we'd been with through out the entire series!? A lot can happen in 20 yrs and to not be able...more
I have to start by saying that I'm a huge fan of this series, but unfortunately I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did the previous ten books in the series back when the focus was on the original Breed brothers, the jump in time I felt has lost the magic and enjoyment of the series that I used to have.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that this is a bad book but throughout the whole story all I kept wondering was when there was going to be another appearance from one of the brother's, that wa...more

"Edge of dawn" starts 20 years after "Darker after midnight". I loved Darker after Midnight and it beautifully ended the Order story, so I was curious to see what Lara Adrian could bring to it. Except for its last quarter, Edge of dawn was meh for me, mainly because of its main characters.
I liked Mira when she was a kid, but for most of the book I couldn't really like her because she was too immature. Many times in the book I had to tell myself that she wasn't a YA heroine but a 28 years old wom...more
The Midnight Breed Series just Introduced the Next Generation of Sexy Breed Warriors!

This is a beautiful story of a man, Kellan Archer fighting against fate! He has witnessed his future via Mira's Sight! But every step he takes to avoid his future, succeeds in bringing him closer to it.

I was soooo looking forward to Mira's story and I wasn't dissapointed! The book was exciting. Everything we knew from the previous books has changed and yet some things are always the same.
It's twenty years since humans learned about the Breed the most violent way possible and the relationship between the two races is still strained. Humans distrust against the "predators" hasn't ebbed and some people do their best to ensure the relationship keeps detariorating and in the middle of all this the...more

BAM!! Welcome back to the world of Midnight Breed!
I love, love loved this book!!! Set 20 years after the jaw-dropping events at the end of the last book, Darker After Midnight, we pick straight up with the Breed boys and their girls and the awesome thing is – they haven’t changed a bit!!! One of the perks of being a vampire or mated to a vampire I guess, 20 years passes and they’re still the same character that I’ve loved for the whole series. Mira has grown up with the Order of Warrior Breeds. Trained as a human warrior herself, she is an asset to the team when she doesn’t let her own agenda take control. This agenda has to do with Kellan Archer, her child hood best friend and lover. He went missing and believed dead during a bombing by a rebel faction. She has mourned for Kellan for 8 years and still wants to bring everyone responsible to justice.

I, like most others, was totally confused at the ending of the last book, thinking it would be the end of the series. At least that's what it seemed like. Edge of Dawn takes place 20 years after the ending of Darker After Midnight book 10. Because of this huge gap in time, I think someone could read this book and not have read the last 10 books and totally understand it.

A full 5 stars to Lara Adrian for the fantastic twist in the series. I got this book today and finished it in 4 hours straight. What a ride Lara has taken me through. She has always been a terrific author and as if I needed a reason to love her more she has come up with this amazing turn to the situation. Tegan was my favourite character in the series, still is but Nathan is just about a close second.

It was great to be back in the world of the Midnight Breed. 20 years in the future from the last book (#10 Darker After Midnight) the world has changed and all the kids are grown up. I will admit it was a little strange to go from seeing Mira a little rambunctious girl in Darker too this strong warrior woman in Edge of Dawn. But once you get over the time lapse you will be totally fine.

If you're like me the end of any romance series is always bittersweet. Usually the couples are having babies and living their happily ever after. But did you ever wonder what happens to those kiddos in the future? What they'll be like when they're all grown up? I have, and I got my dream fulfilled in the newest addition to the Midnight Breed series!

Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed series has always been an auto-read PNR series for me, but I will admit that I went into this book hesitantly. I say that because the original story arc concluded in the last book and all of her original cast of warriors found their breedmates, settled down and seemed destined for contentment. Usually when that happens the series concludes and the author moves on to something new, so when I found out...more

After hearing that Darker After Midnight was the finale of one of my favorite series--the Midnight Breed series, I was thrilled to hear that Lara Adrian had been contracted to continue it but was advancing the storyline to 20 years in the future. I absolutely LOVED Darker After Midnight, and I thought is was the perfect wrap-up to the story of the original group of Midnight Breeds that I had grown to know and love (I think it was probably my favorite book of the ten in the series).

So many of my favorite authors have created worlds and characters that are understandably hard to let go of once you’ve told their stories. Therefore, I completely understand going off on tangent storylines linked into the original. Sherrilyn Kenyon has done it with her DarkHunters – spawning several offshoots like the DreamHunters, WereHunters and most recently the Chronicles of Nick. Deborah Cooke’s Dragonfire series did what I’m about to write about – the series took a leap forward (15/16 yea...more
Edge of Dawn, A Midnight Breed Novel by Lara Adrian is the eleventh novel in the series and I view it as a transition novel. The story picks up twenty years after First Dawn, the event where mankind learned about the vampires that lived among them. It centers around Mira and Kellan, characters we were introduced to in previous books and you just knew there would be more to them than just their childhood experiences.

I discovered Lara Adrian blissfully by accident last fall. I devoured the first 10 books in a matter of weeks. As a long time J R Ward fan, I was not sure if I would find Lara's books to have enough to keep me interested.
I was so wrong to be skeptical. She has an amazing way of drawing the reader in. Her unique Breed with their rituals, laws and enemies is a captivating bunch.

As a child, Lara Adrian used to sleep with the covers up around her neck, afraid she might become the midnight prey of deadly vampires. Later on, under the influence of Bram Stoker and Anne Rice, she had to wonder if her fear wasn't actually something else: a secret desire to walk in a darker world, to live a dangerous and sensual dream with a man of seductive, preternatural power. It is that twin...more
