The music was bad, the fires were cozy. It was nice. Normal.
You know, until the screaming.
And that kind of scream in Violet Hill could mean only one thing.
Vampires.
Although I had a lot of fun reading it, the fifth and penultimate installment of the Drake Chronicles didn’t quite meet my expectations. Blood Moon is more like a really long chapter than an actual book. It starts exactly where Bleeding Hearts left off, with Solange’s three sets of fangs in Kieran’s neck, and it ends with ano...more

GAH! Harvey finally did it, she ended this book on a cliffy and I need the next book now!!
Wow, this book was so so good. Blood Moon is probably the most darkest and serious of the Drake Chronicles. Something that I'm not use to since Harvey has always balanced these books with just the right amount of humor, romance and excitement. But this book felt heart pounding and fast paced more then anything else. I kinda missed the humor, the Drake banter and the romance. Not to say that I didn'...more

This Drake Chronicle has done a complete 180 since the last book. Goodbye to the cutesie, lighthearted fun of falling in love - super fast - with vampires and hello to a scary, creepy and surprisingly deep novel..
Although I really enjoyed the previous books with the all the Drakes and their love interests, I loved coming back to Lucy and Nicholas' points of views in Blood Moon - they're the ones I fell in love with! Especially as we, as the readers, don't have to see the repetitive nature of fa...more

Blood Moon is the fifth novel in the Drake Chronicles. The story is told in the first POV by Solange, Lucy, and Nicholas. Blood Moon picks up right where Bleeding Hearts left off. (If you haven’t read that book, I shall not spoil what happened at the end.)
Solange Drake, the youngest of the Drake Clan and a recently changed vampire, has gone off the deep end by drinking human blood and is being lead around by the mysterious vampire named Constantine. Solan...more

After the shocking cliff-hanger in Bleeding Hearts, Lucy, Kieran and Solange deal with the aftermath of Solange feeding off a human. Not only that, but with the Blood Moon just around the corner, all the Drake’s are on high alert and are forced to go into a two week lock down, which means – no leaving the safety nets. Sounds easy? Guess again! With the furies arrival and Solange’s struggles with blood lust, it’s about to get a whole load more dangerous in Violet Hills.

I FINALLY FINISHED IT!! She did it again... Alyxandra ended this awesome book on a cliffy, a CLIFFHANGER! WHYYYYYYY Alyxandra??? WHYYYY must you TORTURE USSS!! if you havent read the book dont read this review any further! (view spoiler)
This book was totally disapointing. I fell in love with the first book and honestly I couldn't wait for others to get published. The second one isn't really my favorite, but it's definitley better than this one. I think the series should have ended with three books, four maximum.
Like I said, I didn't get the story in the forth one at all. It was totally forced. But lets drop that one, since we're talking about book five here. The story line was stupid. It just sucked.

This was far more angsty and darker than the previous in this series. Nick and Lucy are my favorite couple, and Blood Moon gave us a good dose w/a Solange POV as well.
Solange cheeses me to the back teeth with her changes since book one. Queen, Schmeen, she's beginning to look more like a puppet but I'll have to read the next book to confirm my suspicion.

I first want to say that if you haven't read the other books in this series and you want to then you might not want to read this review. It's hard to talk about this book and not giveaway something.
I love The Drake Chronicles and Alyxandra Harvey is one of my favorite YA authors, but I am not sure if I like how this series is going. It only has one more book then it is finished but I didn't enjoy this book as much as the others, so I am hoping the next one will make up for it.

The Drake Chronicles is one of my favourite Young Adult series and I’m always so excited to get my hands on the newest book in the series. Blood Moon begins straight after the events of Bleeding Hearts and there is no waiting around when it comes to the action. Solange is a vampire princess who comes from a family well known for not killing and drinking from humans. However, in the last book she was beginning to act a bit strange and that continues in Blood Moon.

This book took an interesting turn. It was a lot different then all the others. There wasn't really a basic love story with a new couple like there had been in all the others, but i liked it. It was nice to get back to the root have where it started.
I'm a little suspicious of the guy that's oh so "helpful" to Solange. There definitely seems to be something up with him. I dont know exactly what yet, but something doesn't seem quite right.

I cannot say enough good things about Alyxandra Harvey's The Drake Chronicles. And Blood Moon was, so far, my favorite book in the series. It's darker and a lot more serious than the other books, but it still has that same sense of humor that made me fall in love with The Drake Chronicles in the first place. There was so much action, and all of the characters were present. All of the Drakes are there, along with my favorite Hunters as well!

In Blood Moon, we return to Lucy’s, Solange’s, and Nicholas’s points of view. While I love all the Drakes and their various love interests, it’s definitely fun to return to the original characters we fell in love with. However, the events of this book are anything but fun. In a surprising but necessary turn of events, Blood Moon is dark, dark, dark; Harvey proves that her characters are more than just love-sick teenagers and Buffy-esque her...more

This series is still the funniest vampire series I’ve ever read, but this book was not the best in the series. I liked Out For Blood the best, and I don’t think any of the others were as good. This book was not as exciting. Lucy is one of my favorite characters, and I love her voice/narration. The events in this book weren’t done as well as some of the other books. Having it switch between 3 perspectives, rather than two, is taking away from the story, even if it’s showing more. The opening was...more
1. Solange goes crazy. Seriously, this chick goes off the richter scale of crazy women. At this point, I think I have an idea of whats happening, but watching her unfold to an unstable vampire had its entertaining moments.
2. Lucy & Nick. I love this couple. I really do. Both of them have grown up so much over the course of the series. It’s good to see them working together and loving one another unconditionally Though their relationship goes through a few tough times, I’m glad to see them ma...more

this book made me really nostalgic of the books that first got me into reading and how they've kinda been drowned out by all these new books i'm starting now. this series was literally the first YA book series i read after completing Twilight for the 9th time. i just miss the snarkiness and the casualness of it all and i realised as i read i'd forgot the books that made me want to start reading in the first place. i found i'd forgotten these books over the years and had almost forgotten the stor...more

I've really liked the previous books in this series, but this would have to be my favorite so far. Probably because it went into a story line that wouldn't be concluded in just the one book and started to tie together all the other sort of random (but great) other books in the Drake Chronicles.
Solange was a total bitch though! It explains it, sort of, at the end of the book but she's still incredibly irritating at at the beginning. Nicolas was his usual yummy self... until the end where somethin...more

Oh my gosh where do I even begin with this book?!
It's fair to say that I have fell in love with all seven of the Drake brothers while reading this series. I really wish they were real and I could date a different one every day of the week!
This is the fifth book in the Drake Chronicles by Alyxandra Harvey, if you haven't read any of the series yet I highly recommend you start right now, cause these boys are hot!!

Oh.My.God! where do i begin?
Ooooh i know. how about HOW FRICKIN' HOT ARE THE DRAKE BROTHERS?! Heck even they're dad is super yummy!
what got me excited about this book was that it was in the P.O.V of Lucy and Solange and Nicholas (swooon!).
The book never lacks in action or hotness for that matter which could be harmful to girls who have a thing for hot boys!!! However i did feel like there was too many storylines going on and i couldnt specifically focus on any particular parts for too long. (...more

The beautiful Drake brother are back, and this time, they have more than their share of trouble. With the Blood Moon ceremony about to begin, and the vampire tribes have convened. Now is the worst possible time for Solange, the only known born female vampire, to go off the deep end.

Cliffhanger -- aarrgghh! Okay, now I got that out of the way...
If you are smarter than I am, wait until a week before the final book comes out before reading this one!
Normally I'm sick to death of vampire ya books, but these are a fun read - not because of the vampire stuff, but because the characters are all unique and interesting. Also, the books are action-packed, no waiting around for stuff to happen. Blood Moon is book 5 of 6. Which means all my questions (or most of them) will be answered,...more

Somewhere, Alyxandra Harvey is having a really good laugh.
I waited an entire year for this book, and that's how it ended?
On the other hand, this book kind of proved why I like this series. Each of the four books so far have focused on the romance interests of different members of the Drake family, while following and adding tension to the continuing story line of the whole family. This book goes back to the first set of main characters, Lucy and Solange and Nick who I liked then and I like now....more

Accck!
This book was so hard to read (emotionally, not actually), especially when they deprived us of Solange's interior monologue so that we'd have to be outsiders not having any idea how her transformation and seduction away from the light was happening or going. As reader, we bond with the brothers, family, Lucy, everyone on the outside not knowing what is happening, seeing it happen little by little, while still deal with the actual plot problems of the book at hand.
