The Prisoners Wife is a thriller about Shawn McGuire, an unemployed American spy who is paid to find a terrorist kidnapped by the CIA. As expected, nothing is quite as it seems and the story gets quite exciting.

At first, I really did not like the character Shawn McGuire. He was "broken" and had lots of issues. As the author unravels the mystery, the character is revealed and has much more depth than expected. With lots of or twists, the book keeps a nice pace that makes for a quick and enjoyabl

The Prisoner's Wife by Gerard MacDonald (an academic from England) is a disorganized thriller the follows Shawn Maguire (ex-CIA assassin) and Danielle Baptiste (the prisoner's wife) on their quest to release Darius Osmani (the prisoner).

There are better thrillers, but if you want some explicit descriptions of torture, you will find them here.

Alabama gunshops sell rifles and bright jackets so people don't get mistaken for deer. Peshawar gunshops tempt you with misile launchers and grenades while you sit sipping cardammon tea. It's kind of funny, but I probably shouldn't laugh as it's likely to be true.
I know the author, so I am going to say this book is good! Go buy it.

A "bad guys are us" and "body of lies" thriller that exposes the darker side of agencies, government and individuals alike. The hero is flawed, his love interest a shaky bet and his assignment a "mission impossible." I read it in one night. Style is decent, plot as well and the ending very satisfactory. Roller coaster read.

Couldn't finish it. Just didn't grab me. The dialog was pretty bad and the story just never seemed to go anywhere.
