Cats and Christmas....basically two of my favorite things in the world all contained in one book! This was a fun and sweet holiday romance that was perfect for the season! :)

In ‘Nine Lives of Christmas’ we meet Ambrose. Ambrose is a cat who is already in his ninth life. The previous lives were good but something has to change to make this one the best. When Ambrose is saved from a dog by a nice guy called Zach, Ambrose decides to go home with him. Although Zach wasn’t happy about this in the beginning, slowly on Ambrose and Zach get used to each other. When Ambrose meets Merilee he is convinced that’s his duty now is to get Zach and Merilee together. Surely, getting ...more

Give me a book with a cat and Christmas in it and it's a surefire bet that I'm going to like it. The Nine Lives of Christmas is a lovely Christmas tale told partially from a cat's point of view. The cat is named Ambrose and he is a yellow tabby who is on his last life. Ambrose is so engaging. Sheila really captured what most of us cat lovers know about cats...little lovers with attitude. I enjoyed the parts featuring Ambrose best, with his inner monologue all focused on how he is going to achiev ...more

This story features Ambrose, the matchmaking cat, who finds himself facing his ninth life, you know the final one. He will do anything – ANYTHING – to be able to live it out happily.

When it looks like his fate has been sealed by an enormous dog, he pleads for help. His savior arrives in the form of a big, strong, firefighter named Zach. A firefighter who is very surprised that his good deed not only included scaring away the dog but giving Ambrose a new home.

Ambrose soon sees Zach needs help in

This book is to literature what a Snickers bar is to food... not necessarily the best thing for you, but it's sweet and gooey and sometimes that's just what you want at the end of a long day.

I love cats, and that's what first drew me to this book. Ambrose -- our feline protagonist -- is given a second chance at his ninth and last life, if only he can do something kind for two humans that were kind to him in his previous lives. He then must rescue an emotionally damaged fireman (Zach) and a cat s

A cute story and a pleasant, entertaining read for the holidays, but I had a big problem with the hero. One expects heroes in a romance novel to be a little cliche, but Zach was more a caricature of "manliness" than a real character -- talking about "chicks" (far too often), contemplating women's "racks" (ugh!), using the word "dude" every other sentence as if he were a college student, subsisting on a diet of beer and pizza, being easily manipulated by an attractive woman, and being utterly ter ...more

Cute story but not much about Christmas in it. Seemed rushed at the end. Also did not like promoting giving animals as a gift. That's how many animals end up in shelters not how they get out.

The Nine Lives of Christmas was the first book I have read written by Sheila Roberts. The story was a perfect book to bring me into the holiday spirit. Likable characters. Looking forward to watching the movie. 3.5 stars

This was a cute little book. I'll admit that the cat is what drew me to this, and I'm glad he did. Ambrose is a well-written kitty, and I loved the parts of the story from his point of view. I just wish there had been more of them. I wasn't quite as fond of his human owner, Zach, but I appreciated that his somewhat bad views of women had a logical origin and that he grew out of them by the novel's end. Plus, his best friend calls him out on it, which was great to see. Merilee was a really great ...more

Another read for my reading challenge of 2015- this one a book set during Christmas. I chose this book after watching the Hallmark original movie of the same name (and LOOSELY based on the book). I loved the Hallmark movie, but partially because I love Brandon Routh. I thought it was a cute and lovely story so I decided to try the book. Usually when I do this I love the book even more than I loved the movie. I am sad to say that it did not happen. I wish I could say what I would have thought of ...more

The Nine Lives of Christmas is the absolute perfect way to begin the holiday season! I have been in love with Sheila Roberts' work since reading Angel Lane. Each of her stories are unique, heartwarming and incredible. For me, the holiday season doesn't begin until I have gifted myself with one of Ms. Roberts' holiday reads and The Nine Lives of Christmas is the most excellent kick off for this year!

With this story, Sheila Roberts takes the view of Ambrose, the mangy kitty on his ninth and final

I don't normally read books like this, but when I read the synopsis I thought it sounded like a really cute Lifetime movie (not that I've seen one of those since I don't know when). And it turned out it was like a cute Lifetime movie. I enjoyed it and finished it in a few hours. I loved Ambrose the cat. He was adorable. The basic premise is that Ambrose has been given one last chance to live in exchange for doing some good. He sets out to set-up his new master with a nice girl (unlike his master ...more

It's that time of year again...cheesy Christmas romance book time! When I read the synopsis and saw this one also featured a cat, well...what can I say. I like cheese in my Christmas season.

Nine Lives was a cute, predictable, more-sweet-than-sexy story about a kitty down on his luck and on his ninth life, who vows to help earn his last life's comfort by helping his rescuer - a firefighter human named Zach. Of course, this means that Zach is in need of a good woman.

This was an extremely quick r

I found this contemporary romance charming. Human Zach rescues cat Ambrose from losing his 9th life; clearly Ambrose must find ways to rescue Zach in return. The unexpected connections that Ambrose finds between events in his previous lives and events in this one, and the sympathetic human hero and heroine, make this romance stand out.

Second Christmas book in my planned trilogy. I am sensing a theme - not a lot of substance, but then is that why we read them really?! A little light escape during the holidays.

I just started reading it this morning and I am having a hard time putting it down. It is a very funny and fast paced read so far. I can't wait to see what happens next. Ambrose the cat is amazing or Tom which he is called now...He is on his last life which almost ended but he made a promise he now has to keep....This is my second book by this author. I recently read The Snow Globe which I really enjoyed...

Finally found the time to finish reading it. It is an awesome book. I enjoyed every minute

I should have waited until the holiday season was upon us to start reading this book, but that's okay. I actually knew of this story before I even realized it was derived from a book. This past Christmas, I spent a majority of my time watching all sorts of holiday chick flick movies on Hallmark and The Nine Lives of Christmas stayed on my DVR until around March, when I finally decided to stop hoarding it. It was an adorable movie; one of those feel-good flicks that I can appreciate for its chees ...more

This was a fun book, I loved the authors’ description of the nine lives of a cat, the parts with Ambrose/Tom the cat were great, even his little romance with Merilee’s cat the “conversation” between these two cats is hilarious!

This was also a soft romance which is the only kind I like heck there was only 2 kisses in the whole book. I liked the relationship between Zach and Merilee and thought it was cute how the cat would react to things Zach said about relationships. Zach is commitment-phobic b

Now this is what I call a proper Christmas story!

You can’t go wrong with a story with cats, especially if it’s from their point of view. I was actually more invested in reading about Ambrose than the two leads. The romance aspect is definitely portrayed better than the ones in The Snow Globe, but it still lacks something for me.

In Nine Lives of Christmas, we have Zach, an impressionable firefighter who also happens to be easy on the eyes. After watching his father move out from the house over

Well, Ambrose is on his ninth life – and he’s about ready to lose it. He’s at the top of a rather tiny tree with a dog bounding higher with every leap just below him. Like we all do when we’re in trouble, we begin making promises to our maker in order to be spared. Zach is jogging nearby and comes to Ambrose’s rescue by chasing the dog away. Now Ambrose thinks he ‘owes’ the man something for saving his life. First, he needs the man to accept him into his home. Then, he needs to figure out exactl ...more

Nine Lives of Christmas by Sheila Roberts is a perfectly delightful Christmas feel good novel. The story is told from three different viewpoints - his, hers and the cat! As a crazy cat lady myself, I found it highly entertaining to 'hear' the voice of Ambrose the cat!
Ambrose is on his ninth life when he is rescued from a vicious dog by fireman Zach. Ambrose decides to move in with Zach, and then sets about match making. Zach doesn't want a cat, but Ambrose is persistent.
Merilee works at a local

This story, in its true Christmas spirit, contains also some magic in the form of a cat - Ambrose - cheeky character with an attitude, and it was him that firstly drew me to this novel. Ambrose is given a second chance on his ninth - and last! - life and must do something nice to deserve this second chance. And he is going to do anything to deserve on this chance.

I loved the passages told from the cat's point of view, well, you don't get often a story where a cat is one of the main characters, a

This is a nice holiday read! This is about the only time of year I entertain romance type books, but it's fitting for the holiday season, esp. If you like cats & romance

Starts with Ambrose ( the cat) & he's looking for a new home since his owner died. He's running out of lives so he sets out to make this life a nice cushy life
He runs into the house where Zachar lives. Zachar is a fireman who buys homes, fixes them up and sells them --a house flipper I guess you'd say. He's in the process

After the last too disappointing tomes it was a relief to listen to a book I actually enjoyed. It was light, well written, and fun. Sure the lead male is a bit of a dim bulb – but being male I know this is par for the course (we all tend to be a little dim). Sure its formula and schmaltzy (Handsome, rugged, and brave fireman and shy, beautiful woman in need of rescue), but sometimes that just what the doctor ordered.

Well, this was just adorable. It's the perfect cozy Christmas book to read when it's snowing outside, in front of a roaring fire.

Ambrose is on his ninth life and it looks like his luck might have run out when he's chased up a tree by a large dog. He pleads for his life and his prayers are answered in the guise of fireman, Zach, who saves him from the dog.
Zach reluctantly takes in Ambrose, not that Ambrose gives him much of a choice. Zach just wants a

So lately I have been too much into books and movies about the apocalypse, dystopian worlds, superheroes, sci-fi generations, zombies, vampires, shape-shifters, monsters and all that is heavily unreal or fantastical or supernatural... Phew. I really needed a breather.

I was looking for something different and light and happy to read when I was offered a copy of The Nine Lives of Christmas. I don't read contemporary romance much, but this Sheila Roberts title was something that made me say yes. T

The Nine Lives of Christmas is a fun read that is perfect for getting the reader into the holiday spirit. Narration is shared by three very different but equally likable characters, a firefighter who is in search for love (although he doesn't always acknowledge it), a sweet heroine, and Ambrose the cat who takes on the most important role of all, the matchmaker. I was a fan of The Nine Lives of Christmas from the very beginning. Ambrose is absolutely hysterical and Zach and Merilee are completel ...more
