I really liked the book....ALOT! Must say that Savannah Jade is a great read, detailing the struggles faced by the book's main character. We find her a teenager dealing with death, high school politics and the fact that she must now take the role as the family's breadwinner, as she grows up turning from a young adult into a young woman. In addition to the fact that she must in essence mature overnight, we find her role in her relationships evolving as well.

Written in the distinctive voice and point of view of a typical rebellious teenager, “Savannah Jade” is a fantastic, feel-good, quick read. Her rebellious nature might be characteristic of every other teenager out there, but ordinary she is not.

The story centers around eighteen-year old Savannah and how she deals with life after her mother passed away. At first it took me some time to get used to the author’s writing style and the way Savannah thinks and talks, but after a few chapters I got to...more

Review: Sandra Cimadori/ Savannah Jade 6/23/12

I was asked to review Savannah Jade. Reading the opening sentence, I knew this wasn’t the sort of book that usually interests me. But by the time I had read the first page I saw that the author was highly capable in her craft so I read on. Having finished Savannah Jade, not only am I glad I read it, I feel it should be required reading for social workers, guidance counselors, teachers of high school students and the students themselves. And most of t...more

The story is about a 17 year old Savannah Jade who lives in a trailer park in South Carolina along with her mother, grandmother, and brother. Savannah wants to break the trailer trash streak that the Mason female have had over several generations. With her mother dying at an early age and with no male adult figure around, she really has no one to lead her in a straight path. A dark family secret will test her strength along with all the other challenges that are thrown at her. She is a hot heade...more

Not sure what I was expecting as I read this but as soon as I started reading it I read it with a southern accent (which sounds way better in my head than if I tried to read it as such out loud). The story is about Savannah Jade - a high school senior with a complicated family, to say the least. As a teacher I really enjoyed the message that this novel sent. Our choices do have consequences and we can rise above...above what is really up to each person. For some it's the family and situation the...more

Rating: 4 Stars

This review was done as part of a Read2Review.

Amazon Summary: Trailer trash is what people in Port Regal, South Carolina call seventeen year old Savannah Jade Mason and her family. Savannah dreams of doing important, spectacular things, but it is unlikely she ever will given her spectacular ability for getting into trouble. When her mother dies, the family's circumstances sink further in...more

It's a very satisfying story that follows a young woman - Savannah Jade - as she struggles with the death of her mother, life in high school, personal relationships and taking care of her family. Faced with incredibly difficult circumstances, the heroine rises to challenges, makes mistakes, and matures over the course of a school year (and beyond). In fact all of the characters are so well developed they could almost step off the pages. I even found eerie similarities to real young people I know...more

I received this book from the author as part of the R2R event. And I have to thanks Sandra for the oportunity of reading such an amazing book.

Does every choice in our lifes have a consequence? Well, yes! And it doesn't have to be a bad one. Every choice we make, every word we say, everything, has an impact in our lifes and everybody around us.

This story is about that. About face life and everything that comes with it.

When I signed up to read and review this novel, I had big hopes for it. The title and cover art really caught my eye and the summary was captivating. My hopes came true and I was in love with this novel when I started it. Savannah Jade started out a little bit slow, but it moved along faster as I read. I felt that Savannah was a character any young adult could easily relate too. Her hardships have been felt by a lot of other people and I was captivated from the beginning. Savannah had a hot temp...more

Sandra Cimadori's, SAVANNAH JADE is a very well written story, beautifully told. The story deals with issue's that are real...poverty, drugs, prejudice, high school, and relationships. It is about having to mature quickly, standing up to challenges and facing them head on. This is the kind of book every young adult can relate too. It's real, it's believable, it's struggles that people deal with everyday. Take the time and read this book, you will not regret it.

Sandra has effortlessly created a beautiful story of life's hardships in her novel Savannah Jade. It tells the story of Savannah as she grows up turning from a young adult into a young woman, through the hardships and tribulations she must face and overcome, family secrets and not letting the past rule your future. I thoroughly enjoyed the novel and can not wait for more from Sandra Cimadori.
