Bryan Dunn has written a great story, and I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for an action-packed off-beat adventure.

The story has a strange ugly terrifying being…no not a being, a plant that petrifies the poor people in the story. The characters are true characters, fun and likable… the right mishmash of horror and humor that keep you reading and wanting more. Dunn fashioned a terrifying villain in something as ordinary as a domestic plant. Once I started I couldn't put it down unti...more

Creepers hits close to home for me. We recently purchased five acres, the majority of it covered with very tall weeds. While our weeds are not quite as proactive as the botanical life featured in the story, they sometimes seem that way.

Overall I enjoyed the story. While some of the characters (like Rufus, and the goth and new age kids) bordered a little on the predictable, they added some much needed color and humor in a story that if it happened in real life would be downright terrifying.

Dunn's...more

What more can you possibly want in a book? Lust and love, creepy green things, lost father found, teenage angst and………a total idiot named Curley. Creepers has all this and more. The cover is a bit of a misconception. : yes, there are women and yes, there are plans and even water but, while the women sound okay; the plants are NOT cute!
Dr. Henry Fletcher had just made scientific history with his new plant he was calling “Fletcher’s Creepers”. Something that would grow green in the desert and, as...more

I have a confession to make. You know those cheesy monster movies on the SyFy channel, the ones on Saturday nights when only the geeky or married are home? The ones with eye-catching names like "Mega Python vs. Gateroid"?

I love them all. Some people like "Dancing With The Stars," I'll take "Man With The Screaming Brain" any day.

So when I saw "Creepers" by Bryan Dunn, I snatched it up. It promised a story about a "zany group of characters struggling to save their home after a genetically altered...more

Creepers has all the makings of a B-side horror movie within its pages. There are strange monsters, a colorful cast of characters, and the right combination of horror and humor to keep you interested and turning the pages.

Furnace Valley isn’t everyone’s first choice when it comes to living the good life, but most of the residents have found their own particular way of dealing with it. Doc Fletcher invested his money into a home because of the seclusion, and the ability to work on his genetically...more

At times--particularly the monster parts--while reading this book I was reminded a little of horror author Shaun Hutson, I wonder if the author is a fan? This is one of those scientist with experiment turned monster goes horribly wrong tales. I was pulled out of the story a few times by an overuse of cliches and didn't start connecting with any characters until after the first third of the book. It picked up from there and I began to get into it. I loved (view spoiler)[the weedeater scene (hide...more

Bryan Dunn's Creepers has a definite B-movie vibe. The story reminded me of Tremors, except the danger facing the remote small town in this story is a swarm of hungry plants rather than giant worms.

The concept is good, I liked the characters and their imaginative solutions to their creeper problem, but there were too many minor flaws for me to give it a higher rating. I notice that the first review on Amazon compares it to a SyFy channel movie, and I think that is a good comparison; if a movie v...more

I finished it. That's pretty much the best that can be said. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't good either. It was just enough to pass the time... which it did, so I guess that makes it a success.

Fantastic. This was somewhat new in the ways of the horror genre. It was creepy, fast paced (with enough background stories) and the ending worked great.

Recommended for those who like to see science go wrong...and deadly.

I couldn't finish, I am going through an impatient reading phase.

Wasn't funny enough to be camp but too silly to be scary.

I felt like I was reading a script for a bad B-movie, stoned teenagers and all.

I did like most of the story, the characters were well developed, and the writing was good. And it was an easy read. However, I only gave it a rating of 3, for these reasons:

-- The ending just kind of popped out of nowhere, and wasn't very satisfying.

-- There were too many similarities between the book and the movie Tremors. And Tremors was so much better.

-- I don't think I'll ever want to read it again (which is a criteria I have for ratings of 4 or 5).

It was an easy read. Fairly predictable but interesting. I'd actually give it 2 1/2 stars but I rounded up because I did enjoy the unique characters.

This is a Syfy channel movie in the making.

This was a very fun read. It's set up like a modern interpretation of a 1950's B grade horror movie.

Overall a decent read. There was a lot of "coincidences" in the book that kind of made it seem a little campy, but otherwise I enjoyed it.

Real rating 3.5
