To my foreigner friends:

This is the 9th book of my most-read author: Bob Ong. His works are all blockbusters here in the Philippines. From one book to next, he explores different genres and I think he is doing this to achieve his objective: to make more Filipinos read books. His real identity is not known although I think that he is about my age: 40+. In his first book, I was able to relate to his school boy experiences maybe because we came from the same strata in society. I got hooked from the

Kakabasa ko lang ulit nito nung isang araw (may nakita kasi kong nakahambalang sa kwarto ng pinsan ko) at ang masasabi ko lang "Love is lovelier the second time around". Hahaha!

Bob Ong was a staple among my friends in college, because he provided us with quick and funny reads that keeps us afloat during stressful school days. I guess reading his books has become a habit that I haven't shaken yet, that's why I wanted to read his latest book, Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin (loose translation: Stay Away From Me). The title is a play on one old Filipino song Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin by Rodel Naval that eventually became a title of a Filipino noontime soap

Kudos to Bob Ong! This book is great and should be read by my fellow Filipinos! :))

Kung paanong O.A umart

What we talk about when we talk about Bob Ong?

Bob Ong, being anonymous, is hard to discuss. We, Filipinos, always consider the origin of an output to publicly talk about a piece of work. He criticize contemporary Filipinos throughout his successful years in publishing industry. Likewise, being anonymous is the best way to stay away from gunshots and bloody papers. The Philippine bestselling author, they say. Publishing a book a year and sold thousands of copies to support a publishing house are

Read this and became confused. Actually I made a love letter to the author that goes like this:

Dear Bob Ong,

Let me get this straight - GULUNG-GULU KA NA BA SA DAMI NG DEMAND SA IYO NG MGA MAMBABASA NA SUMULAT NG ROMANTIC NOVEL??? Halata kasing minadali mo itong bagong libro mo. tsk. And we both know that the comic relief crown really belongs to Kuya Manix. Why do a xerox copy of his humor? Despite writing in a pseudonym and his identity is yet to be revealed, Bob Ong is one of the most influential authors in the Philippines today. I consider him as one of the agents of change. His books are always, to a certain degree, will make you feel guilty about your actions and be an agent of change yourself. He is one of my favorite authors so it sucks that i didn't like this book.

Hay.

Book #25 for 2012: I have always been a fan of Bob Ong. I can’t stress that enough. Anyway, I’ve seen this book late last year. Astig. Cover palang panalo na. A for effort.

I love Filipino authors. Definitely, Roberto “Bob” Ong is my favorite. He is such a witty but playful writer. He is known for using conversational Filipino to create humorous and reflective depictions of Philippine life. When I saw Bob Ong’s latest book, I got excited with the idea that he has finally decided to write something “cheesy” for his avid readers.
