This is THE BOOK to read on film noir. In 200 pages Luhr manages to provide succinct analysis of films such as DOUBLE INDEMNITY but also an overview of how the the genre has developed and how critics and reviewers have developed their discourse about the genre depending on the period in which they are writing. This is one of the most lucid books of film criticism I have ever read. For a little more about Luhr, see my blog: http://www.carlrollyson.com/blog.htm
