Review of Something To Prove by Cathryn Parry
As most of you know, I am not a huge lover of Harlequins. (I like to call them Harlies...☺). I find many of them too shallow, too formulaic, and too generic. I guess the Superromance series are longer, and because of that the author has more time for character and relationship development. Which is a good thing. Harlequin still loves the hard-to-believe totally convoluted plotlines, love-at-first sight premise, and chiseled six-pack-abs kind of hero (...more

Excellent story of forgiveness and redemption. Amanda had a story to write, and knew she could do it. She just had to find out the whole story. Brody had been burned by journalists before, and didn't want to talk to her. Both of them had trust issues to deal with, and it nearly destroyed their relationship. I was enjoying this story immensely up until I lost my copy of the book and then I had a difficult time getting back into it because we no longer had snow on the ground! My problems obviously can't be solved by a HQN, I know.
Brody was terrific but Amanda took a while to get to like, in my opinion. She had so many 'daddy' issues, it was amazing she was a writer and not a stripper, lol. I just couldn't put myself in her shoes and sympathize or empathize with her and I tried. I really did.

Cathryn Parry’s first piece of romantic writing was a love letter she wrote to the boy who sat next to her in first grade. By the next Christmas, she was asking for a typewriter to organize her growing collection of adventure stories inspired by Nancy Drew.
