This contemporary romance, centered around two chefs and restaurant owners, has all the makings for a charming romance. Lexie owns her restaurant in small town, Star Harbor, a tourist destination and she’s launching her new catering business on the side. Seb, a big time, famous chef based out of New York, grew up with his three brothers in Star Harbor and is back visiting when he walks into Lexie’s café. His interest is evident when she More...

For the most part, I’ve had good luck with Loveswept releases. First, they have been at a great price point, $2.99 and I’ve enjoyed Jessica Scott’s Because of You and both of Ruthie Knox’s books. I believe Elisabeth Barrett is a debut author, and I’m always on the lookout for a good contemporary. This one has a good set-up for the series as a whole, but I wasn’t quite sold on the book.

Ever start reading a book and know right off that there is something special about it? Yeah, me too! and Deep Autumn Heat is one of those. Elisabeth Barrett starts her Star Harbor Series with a wonderful book. She introduces us to four unique and individual brothers, sexy as sin of course. Hometown bad boys, excellent romance and a bit of suspense.

Deep Autumn Heat is a story about Lexie someone who has been burned by love before and is not looking for a repeat, and Sebastien a famous playboy chef. Lexie has lived in her small Harbor town for a few years now after escaping an abusive relationship she doesn't trust love and is not looking to be involved with anyone anytime soon. Sebastien comes back to his hometown and walks into Lexie's restaurant and is instantly attracted to the feisty women waiting on he and his brothers, she doesn't im More...

Lexie Meyers has moved three thousand miles from California to a small village, Star Harbor, on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, to get away from an abusive stalking boyfriend, Frank. She opens a small restaurant in town where she fits in well, and is practicing to become a well-known caterer. Her actual name is Alexandra, but she changed it to Lexie Meyers (her mother’s maiden name) when she left California in the hope that Frank would never find her.

Let me start off by saying that I normally wouldn't read a book with a title like this. It's just not usually my cup of tea. But wow, I'm glad Sara suggested it!! I loved it!!
Sebastian Grayson is a celebrity chef. He's come home to Star Harbor for a fishing weekend with his brothers but that all goes out the window when he meets Lexie Meyers. Lexie immediately captures Sebastian's interest simply because she isn't fawning over him like all women do. Maybe this should be a little lesson for us, l More...

Deep Autumn Heat by Elisabeth Barrett is her debut contemporary romance set in a picturesque, sleepy fishing village in New England. It is the first book in her Star Harbor series, which revolves around four, dangerously gorgeous brothers, and their journey towards love.
Our first sexy heartthrob brother is Sebastian Grayson; handsome, arrogant and renowned Master Chef. Amongst his brothers he is just Seb, one of the Grayson `bad boys' when young. In many ways, he has the world at his feet with More...

Deep Autumn Heat is a Loveswept classic. Thier is a few love scenes in this book.
Lexie Meyers owns her restraunt and her coconut cake is the best. Lexie won't share her reciepe to anyone. Thier is another restraunt in a town away who comes to get a slice of cake and tries to figure out her secret. She is even getting threating notes for it.

I feel like my review of this book could be summed up in two words: pleasantly surprised.
I must admit before talking about this book that I am more fickle when it comes to contemporary romance then other of the genre's I regularly read because it's hard genre to read and truly enjoy (at least I think) because the story takes place RIGHT NOW. It's not taking place in the past where certain rules and expectations can direct the course of the novel. And it's not taking place in the future w More...

My review:
Deep Autumn Heat is the debut for Elisabeth Barrett and what a great debut! Deep Autumn Heat was well-written, hot sweet spicy romance with characters whom you would love to meet in real life! It is the best romance book I have read during this season and I will keep a keen eye on her upcoming books.
Regarding the plot:

Having read more than my share of romance novels I always enjoy discovering a new to me author. When the author delivers an exceptionally great product, I’m ecstatic! Deep Autumn Heat by Elisabeth Barrett is an emotionally charged, well developed, superb story.

This book wasn't badly written and it was plenty sexy but I found the hero to be overbearing douchebag for the first third of the book and the heroine was a complete coward in the last quarter. I didn't really like either of them enough to feel invested in the story. I felt the emotional relationship between the heroine and her sous chef/grill master/head line cook was deeper and resonated more strongly than the romance she had with the hero. I ended up feeling sorry for the douchebag and wished More...

Book Copy:
In this sexy new Star Harbor romance series, featuring the too-tempting Grayson brothers, a celebrity chef turns up the heat for a local café owner—and things start to sizzle.
Lexie Meyers decides there’s nothing sweeter than watching Sebastian Grayson’s perfect, wicked mouth devour her coconut cake. He’s hot, he’s hungry, and he’s sizing her up like she’s the best thing on the menu.

The last thing world renowned chef Sebastian Grayson expected coming back to his home town, for the weekend, was to have a run in with the sizzling café owner. He also didn’t expect the effect Lexie Meyers would have on him. He just can’t get the little spit fire out of his head and she also made the most succulent coconut cake he’d ever tasted. But that’s not all he wants to taste.

Having heard many great things about the second book in the Star Harbour small-town contemporary series, BLAZE OF WINTER, and having received an eARC copy of the same, I figured I would read the first book in the series to have a better understanding of the author's voice, the setting, the characters, etc. leading into the second book. Plus, I've been on a bit of a contemporary kick lately [romantic suspense being my genre of choice], and have had fairly good luck with recent Loveswept releases. More...

Sebastian Grayson is a well know New York celebrity chef. He is also a Star Harbor native. His restaurant, television show, and opening of another restaurant keeps him from visiting Star Harbor often, but he always returns once a year to visit his brothers on the anniversary of their father’s death. He is also very cocky, a bit conceded, and overly competent.

so... this book had serious potential. I mean first- look at that cover. shirtless man on a motorcycle - GIMME!! - The plot of the story itself wasn't even bad either.
Lexie Meyers owns a restaurant in Star Harbor and is starting a catering business but when former bad boy Sebastian returns to town for his annual meet up with his brothers he finds he can't get Lexie out of his head. Sebastian, or Seb as he's called is a rising star in the cooking world - he has a very successful restaurant in NY More...

Deep Autumn Heat is Book 1 of the Star Harbor Series. I must have had a goofy grin all along while I was reading this book. Seriously, Sebastian Grayson is like a dream come true!
"He was tall, taller than Cole, which was saying something, since Cole stood well over six feet. Dressed in all black, he wore a leather jacket over a well fitted T-shirt and slim jeans."

Another solid, entertaining Loveswept novel. I think LS books are good as "tweeners"...the books you read in between the ones that tear you apart, make you sob, take your breath away (think: Kristen Ashley or JR Ward...at least for me). These books are "safe". They have just enough story, just charming enough characters (though maybe not entirely memorable), just enough heat, and just enough action to make it a quick, entertaining read. But not too much of any of it to leave you spent. More...

Review:
I don’t think I have read many romances featuring chefs. Either they didn’t make an impression on me at all, or my innate dislike of cooking has steered me away from books with chefs. I just don’t find them very sexy. Sure, it would be divine to have a culinary artist at my beck and call, preparing mouth-watering dishes to please my taste buds and tame my wild heart, but then I remember what a glutton I am, and I realize that if I did find a sexy chef of my own, I would soon weig More...

This was more like a 2.5 rounded up to a 3.
I'm not sure where to start because I have two vastly different feels about this book.
As far as the story and basic plot are concerned, I liked it - and I'll even go as far as to say that I liked it a lot. Barrett did a good job creating warmth within the Star Harbour community and I am intrigued by all of her characters, especially the brothers. And the fact that Seb is a chef that interned for a time with Bobby Flay -- I mean, hello. Sold. Lexie held More...

I am a huge fan of gorgeous brothers novels. In Deep Autumn Heat we are introduced to the sexy Grayson brothers and first up is Sebastian “Seb”. The delicious chef who left town to pursue his career. Now he is back home for the annual get together with his brothers. Seb had me the first moment with his intensive staring at Lexie then I was a goner with his arrogant and alpha male attitude that does know what personal space means.

If you love food, or chefs, or both, AND you like your contemporary romances sizzling hot, then you’ll definitely want to pick up Deep Autumn Heat! Lexie Meyers is feisty, Sebastian Grayson is yummy, and the sparks so fast and furious you’d better have a tall glass of ice-cold lemonade next to you as you turn the pages. Also, don’t read on an empty stomach…

This is Elisabeth Barrett's debut book for Loveswept. I loved the cover of course. Just look at it. I also liked the idea of four hot brothers. A no brainer there too. Now i just hoped the story would be good to go with all that and the great blurb i read. You get to meet the 4 Grayson brothers in the beginning of this book. They all come together once a year to remember and celebrate their dad's life. So sweet! There are two older brother's Val and Cole and then the twins Seb and Theo. All thes More...

As is tradition the Grayson brothers, Valentine, Cole and twins Theo and Sebastian have gathered in Star Harbor to commemorate their father’s tragic passing in a hurricane 20 years-ago. It’s a solemn occasion but also an important way for the boys who had a reputation as hell-raisers in their youth, to reunite. Deep Autumn Heat is Elisabeth Barrett's debut novel and the first book in her Star Harbor series staring the sexy Grayson brothers. If you like a not quite reformed bad boy then you're going to love sexy celebrity chef Sebastian but I have a feeling his brothers are going to be just as hot to handle and I can't wait for more of Val, Cole and Theo.
