I had been hearing a lot about this book around the blog/twitter sphere but didn't really plan on reading it. That was until I saw a review where someone brought up some concerns. So when Revell offered to send my a review copy I decided to take the time to see first-hand what this book was all about.

The whole idea is that because of your identity in Christ you are already amazing. In other words you do not have to do anything to earn His grace. Sounds great, right? While I have wanted

Ok. The title is cheesy and the author's "go girl" quips are tiring (I just can't talk like that....), but it does have some value in a world where confidence is hard to come by and I needed to hear something good about me. As with all my trips to the book store I went in without the intention of buying anything for myself because I was looking for resources for a college girl I'm mentoring and meeting with tomorrow, but I picked this up because the word "amazing" is not one I'd choose for mysel ...more

Though the title is admittedly cheesy, I truly feel like God led me to this book. I wandered into Baker Books feeling a little down and needing something to remind me that my life right now was a-okay. This book fit perfectly with the help I needed to understand who God created me to be and how I can embrace that and live accordingly. I highly recommend it, especially to women in their 20s wondering what on earth God is doing with their life.

As if the title isn't enough to make you feel better ... this book delivers what it promises. If you only buy one non-fiction book in 2012, this needs to be it!

I had to read this book much slower than I usually read review books. It was loaded with nuggets of truth my soul needed to hear. Things like ... "As I did, it seemed God whispered to my soul, "You think you have to take what's broken and make it perfect in order to be used by me. But I think in a completely different way. I took what was

Before doing this study, I had never read (or even heard of Holley Gerth). Man, I have been missing out. Her wisdom and her willingness to share her journey and her heart for finding your passion and purpose in life will bless you immensely.

This Lifegrowth Guide will take you on a journey to discover your strengths, skills, how to handle your emotions and express them in a helpful way, think about your walk with God and where he's taken you thus far in your life, and so much more.

Do you ever have those days where you feel like you’re not doing enough? Or days like you’re being pulled in every direction? Days where you feel like you’re just not stacking up to what you thought your life plan should be?

I think we’ve all had those days.

The nice thing about Holley Gerth’s book You’re Already Amazing is that it shows us that even during those times where we feel less-than-stellar, we’re still amazing. Even if you’re going through rough times, or may think that you just can’t

Refreshing and engaging, Gerth tackles a multitude of issues with compassion and humour and an all important brightness of hope. You're Already Amazing reads as fluently as fiction and kept my attention riveted until the very end. It's the first time in a long while that I've read a non-fiction book cover to cover and all the while I felt like I was chatting with a really good friend. Exchanging ideas, problems, testimonies. Exploring who God is and what He wants me to become...and more importan ...more

It's easy to get caught up in the illusion of perfection, that we try to often be more than is humanely possible.

Maybe we are people-pleasers and find ourselves, passively saying yes, when often we should say no, or don't speak up when we should and find ourselves in situations or living in a life that we truly aren't meant to be.

"You're Already Amazing: Embracing Who You Are, Becoming All God Created You to Be", is about being the woman, the wife, the daughter, the mother, God has created you t

For those of you who know me personally or have been following me long, you know that I love a good book more than almost anything on earth, and you also know that I've been afflicted with the disease to please for years.
This book has seriously impacted and changed my life forever.
I can't begin to tell you every amazing point in "You're Already Amazing" because there was seriously one in every chapter, and on almost every page.

Holley Gerth is one of my favorite authors because her sincere encouragement speaks to your heart and reminds you of God's infallible word and unchanging promises. It's pure truth. Holley presents this new You're Already Amazing Life Growth guide in that same voice, encouraging women to look within and be reminded that God has made us with BOTH our strengths and weaknesses to do HIS good work, to shine HIS light through our gifts and talents and to pursue only the things that pass the litmus tes ...more

Perhaps you struggle with doubt or even low feelings of self-worth. Or maybe there is a nagging perfectionist within you, always telling you that you could do more and do it better. But what if you were able to see yourself and your life in a different, more positive light?

Holley Gerth, with her original book, You're Already Amazing: Embracing Who You are, Becoming All God Created You to Be, began guiding women toward the goal of seeing themselves as children of God, women who have strengths, s

This book was written for women and would serve as a good book for discussion. I personally found the many lists very annoying Some examples include these: in my family it was/was not to feel or a safe or unsafe person checklist, or I allow myself to feel. It made me feel like I was going back to high school or even a find your strengths girls group.

The other issue I had with this book is that this woman is not my friend and the style never felt authentic. It seemed like it would be good for a

This book was a great read at first I wasn't sure what to expect but I love the six sessions in this guide and how the are drawn out. This book was very inspiring to me it lets us know that as children of god we are already amazing, and we have a purpose in our lives. This book is very uplifting, it was very uplifting to me and I think everyone should read this book its like a guide for your amazing life and can be used for many aspects of your life. We did this as a group for a summer Bible study. I would have liked to take a little more time in savoring the wisdom. But thankfully, I own the book and I can always come back to it. At first I thought that you didn't need the workbook to go with it. It was very much word for word the same, the first chapter at least. Then it changed and there were some variances in them and I found that they do go well together. While I am glad I bought it on kindle as it is not taking up more space on my book ...more

What I needed when I needed it, though I didn't know it at the time! At first i thought it across the room "I am not! I have no gifts! I am useless to God!" Wow God changed me though, or at least still is. I think I cried every time I read it. (Could have just been what or where I am/was in life) but now I see God made me as I am, for a reason, for a purpose and he does want or expect me to be anything other than what He made me for... If that makes sense. I cannot be replaced. I'm needed and wa ...more

In today's culture, it is an acceptable, almost expected, attitude to believe that you are less; that this attitude is humility and desirable. True humility is accepting what you've been made into and serving from that position. This LifeGrowth guide and DVD walk you through your strengths and skills as well as what the Bible actual says about you. It was eye-opening to realize all the things I thought about myself without ever real acknowledging and learning what is true to replace the lies tha ...more

This book was alright--if you can get through all the cheesiness, it actually does carry an encouraging message. Gerth seems like a likeable person despite her tendency to address the reader with phrases like "sweet girl". Overall, I didn't care much for her writing, but the book itself was fine. I think it is one of those where you have to shift through a lot of dirt to find the jewels you're looking for. I got things out of it and it made me think, so I give it three stars. The best thing about this book is that it relies so heavily on Holley's background as a counsellor. I had the sense that she knew what she was talking about, and she shared her wisdom in an approachable way. The book gave me an opportunity to reflect on who God made me to be, and how I can use my specific strengths and skills, and the way I interact with people, to shine brighter for his kingdom. I read this in conjunction with an old Bloom Book study and I recommend you do the same.

Absolutely loved this one! Holley truly does write as tho we're sitting down with our coffee or tea and just having a heart-to-heart talk. We women struggle almost constantly with comparison and perfectionism and wanting so much to make everyone around us happy. In this book, i learned about the importance of really figuring out who God made me to be--my strengths, my weaknesses, the people i'm most drawn to serve, the sphere in which i thrive--and then finding the freedom to live it out. I love these type of books, but I always have a hard time reviewing them. I think it is because different parts of the book can speak differently to everyone. So I guess I will just tell you what part touched me and then give you an overview of the book's layout.

For those women who feel like they aren't good enough, that they don't measure up, and that they have to make themselves into so much more in order to count for something, Holley Gerth has great news to share. In You're Already Amazing, Gerth shares the exciting news that God has created all of us for a specific purpose and that we are already amazing.

I know God thinks that I am amazing. I do. And most of the time, I think I'm pretty amazing too. But, there are those days, those moments where th

I like reading books for Christian women. I honestly do, but many times I feel I can't relate to them. I don't struggle with wondering if I'm "good enough" (I am), if I'm pretty enough (If looks matter that much, that person isn't someone I would want to have in my life), or if my feelings are okay (My mother always taught me you can't help your feelings. They are what they are.) So many times I am thinking, "Are these the biggest issues facing Christian women today?" (I do think they are, but I ...more

I LOVED this read. I read and did spiritual homework. This is not a quick read but a mediation, going to the Word kinda read. You have to be a big gurl and put on the whole armor of God. You have to be willing to seek something wonderful and incredibly gift about yourself; without a doubt. If you have shame or fault over yourself, be ready to have a box of Kleenex tissue by your side.

Holley, is an amazing writer. I believe she went through a lot of rejection or was given the gift to encourage p

This is a great book for ladies of all ages, teens and above would be most effected by it. Holley has a fun and witty way of writing and making her readers feel comfortable and at ease with knowing who they are through Christ. It's a book about empowering women through Christ, letting women know they don't need to change for the rest of the world, the King of all Kings has made them perfect and just the way HE wants them to be, if God is satisfied with who we are, who are we to change that!?

“While God does want us to be open with others, he also encourages us to put boundaries in place as we do. He talks repeatedly about guarding our hearts. So what’s the difference? Hiding is a response out of fear, while guarding is a proactive choice to protect what matters most. In other words, we’re not to deliberately put something of worth where it won’t be valued.” 11 likes
