Like the secret love child of Dirty Harry and Martha Stewart, Brick Ransom is a rookie cop with a taste for fine dining and zero patience for slovenly deadbeats and criminal scum.

In the middle of a rare Northwest blizzard, Brick is forced to cut his dinner short in order to protect three key witnesses – a bookkeeper, a stripper, and a deadly assassin – all of whom are set

Aside from the incredibly implausible freezing of Green Lake, this crime rampage through Seattle was delightful. One other problem (probably only for a librarian) was a librarian character heaving special collections tomes at an assassin. Most of us would rather die than damage a rare book. The plot was fairly predictable, but that is OK when the characters are interesting and the action is hot and nonstop. This book is not literary but it doesn't pretend to be.

It's snowing in Seattle, there's corruption at every turn & Ransom needs a good meal. This was a fun read for a weekend. A cop trying to keep witnesses safe for a big trial the next day is difficult enough but our cop, Ransom is having to do so in a snow storm of epic proportions not knowing who he can trust & on a very tense run. The action was vivd & very much like watching a movie (especially the library & market chases). The characters were well drawn & honestly, I was ve ...more

Kind of silly in a fun way

This book is one big bundle of silliness. Ludicrous escapes, miraculous bullets, you name it. If you want a read to not think to this would be it. That being said if you can shut your brain off you may enjoy it.

Good

the police dept. in Seattle had some very crughed cops and one rookie had to take on some very bad members of the department.

What do a bookkeeper, a librarian, and a hit man have in common? All three are witnesses that can put Seattle’s top crime boss behind bars for life. His minions are trying to eliminate them. In almost blizzard conditions Brick Ransom is collecting the three and taking them to a safe, secure location. There are crooked cops and a pretty stupid mayor who refuses to salt the roads making driving a hazard, and the car crashes are amazing. This book is wonderful; it could be a Bruce Willis movie ther ...more

This was ridiculously fun - I could see it played out as a movie. Think Channing Tatum in an action spoof.

I found this book to be a very good read even with the totally implausable thought of Green Lake freezing. It is a good story featuring rookie cop Brick Ransom we follow him in his quest to keep the three witnesses safe from pretty much everybody. A very enjoyable read for fans of Action/Crime books.

The story was highly improbable, the main character missed two glaring 'tells' that the reader doesn't (making the story easy to guess and boring), and the author exhibits a disdain for overweight people, mentioning the weight of at least 7 other characters (including the main character calling a child 'fatso')

Good story about Brick Ransom, a rookie cop, who takes on the job of keeping 3 witnesses safe against just about everybody, including fellow police officer.
This story was written after the previous Ransom novel but the action really takes place much before it.

A lot of bad words, I enjoyed the story set in Seattle, as I use to live there and am familiar with the area. It kept my attention, so I would say it was suspenseful.

A clever twist to the story's setting makes this a fast-paced read. Not my usual genre, but thoroughly enjoyed Attebery's style of writing and the story!

Brick Ransom is embroiled in an adventure involving crooked cops and big villians. Very cartoonesque action

While not as funny as the Book 1, this one definitely featured more of Brick though and that I liked.

Kind of a madcap series of adventure that are mostly unbelievable. But a fun read.
