Like the secret love child of Dirty Harry and Martha Stewart, Brick Ransom is a rookie cop with a taste for fine dining and zero patience for slovenly deadbeats and criminal scum.

It's snowing in Seattle, there's corruption at every turn & Ransom needs a good meal. This was a fun read for a weekend. A cop trying to keep witnesses safe for a big trial the next day is difficult enough but our cop, Ransom is having to do so in a snow storm of epic proportions not knowing who he can trust & on a very tense run. The action was vivd & very much like watching a movie (especially the library & market chases). The characters were well drawn & honestly, I was ve...more

What do a bookkeeper, a librarian, and a hit man have in common? All three are witnesses that can put Seattle’s top crime boss behind bars for life. His minions are trying to eliminate them. In almost blizzard conditions Brick Ransom is collecting the three and taking them to a safe, secure location. The story was highly improbable, the main character missed two glaring 'tells' that the reader doesn't (making the story easy to guess and boring), and the author exhibits a disdain for overweight people, mentioning the weight of at least 7 other characters (including the main character calling a child 'fatso')
Good story about Brick Ransom, a rookie cop, who takes on the job of keeping 3 witnesses safe against just about everybody, including fellow police officer.
This story was written after the previous Ransom novel but the action really takes place much before it.

A lot of bad words, I enjoyed the story set in Seattle, as I use to live there and am familiar with the area. It kept my attention, so I would say it was suspenseful.

A clever twist to the story's setting makes this a fast-paced read. Not my usual genre, but thoroughly enjoyed Attebery's style of writing and the story!
Kind of a madcap series of adventure that are mostly unbelievable. But a fun read.
