Let me start by saying I read for a living. Unfortunately I don't get paid- anything- ever, but reading keeps me breathing most days and next to writing it is my number one hobby in life. I have read a lot of series lately and decided that I wanted to find a good stand-alone to keep me busy for a day. I stumbled upon Breathkept by complete chance as I was snooping on one of my favorite author's pages. I saw she had given this book a 5 star rating and it perked my curiosity. This is a fantastic novella from Saundra Mitchell.

Some pretty heavy topics are dealt with in the story, and Ms. Mitchell wrote about them in a realistic, honest, and respectful way.

Even though this story is short it doesn't read that way;its pacing is perfect, and Ms. Mitchell makes every word count.

Considering this book was less than 200 pages long, I was surprised at just how much information the author could include. Part young romance and part murder mystery, this was a quick and compelling read.

The characters were flawed, but likeable. I liked that they weren't perfect. The romance aspect of the book happened a bit too quickly for my taste, but it didn't detract from the story. There were a couple of surprising plot twists, and it was a nice change of pace to not be able to predict ex

Very good book. Cute romance, with some interesting plot twists, and interesting storyline. I feel like the idea was really creative and unpredictable. I liked it a lot. Pretty quick read, would definitely recommend for young adult readers.

Saundra's sojourn into contemporary does not disappoint. Despite my need for all things sci-fi, fantasy, or paranormal, I truly loved this novel and there aren't many contemporary novels that can have that effect on me. From the very first chapter we are drawn into a mystery within a rich setting that is filled with deep characters you'll be rooting for.
