Contracted to marry, they never set eyes upon one another until they day they were to say 'I do'. Yet they were willing to overcome this fact, praying they'd able to trust one another and find the love they'd always been looking for.

For a time, everything was perfect and nothing could come between them. Until the moment their were lives were further thrown into turmoil when they found out they were expecting not one, but two, babies. Life was hectic because of this, but the two were determined to work together in overcoming the trials and tribulations that God was throwing into their path.

Their faith was further tested when one of the twins died in the womb due to Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome. Grieving over the loss of her second child, Alexia tries her best to be there for Justin whenever he needed her. Yet, at times, she was so lost within her grief that she hardly noticed the things happening outside of her little bubble.

When the church's money goes missing, the minister's decide it's time for its members to band together in hopes of hunting down the culprit and acquiring what rightfully belongs to them. When Justin and his cousin's are drafted to go to England in search of the rogue minister, this decision does not sit well with Alexia and her two best friend's.

Justin's decision to fulfill the task throws another kink into the couple's happiness. While Alexia knows about behind what occurred at re-virgining retreat, Justin knows that in order to set things right completely, he needs to face his demons head on. In his mind, going after Mark will allow him to do just that.

Alexia's bitterness over everything she and her husband have gone through in so short a time impede her reason. She soon spirals downward into a path of destruction, never once taking into account the reasons behind her husband's leaving. In her mind, he's supposed to always be there to protect her and their child and not be romping around on the other side of the world. It doesn't matter that he's trying to set things straight for both the church and himself.

Tensions mount as the search for Mark continues. Despite their differences, the couple knows there's a lot they need to fix in order to truly find happiness. Not only for themselves, but for the children they have been them.

This was such a heart-wrenching story. The pain, heartache, and sorrow could be felt with every turn of the page. The story is gripping from the very moment you begin reading. So much so, that you find yourself wanting to know what happens next and whether Alexia and Justin finally find happiness.

While this is not your conventional love story, Michele did a wonderful job in setting the stage for continuing the story from where Mocked By Faith left off. We were able to glean a better understanding of Alexia and Justin's world, as well as the environment surrounding their faith.

We're also given glimpses of the myriad of characters that give this story a deeper meaning. Healing The Faith has quite a few lessons hidden within its pages - lessons that we can all relate to and even apply to our own lives.

I enjoyed the story immensely and can't wait for what Michele has in store next for us with her writing. If you haven't read Mocked By Faith, I definitely recommend doing so in order to catch up with the story. It'll give you a better understanding in regards to the things that happen in this one. You're sure to enjoy it just as much as I did!

This time, I was given an ARC copy of Healing the Faith, the follow-up to Mocked by Faith. (To read my review of Mocked by Faith, please visit BlookGirl here.) In Healing the Faith, the story picks up where Mocked by Faith left off. Justin has left with a group of men from the local community to travel across the ocean to find Mark, an ex-minister who abused many young men in the community and who stole millions of dollars from the collective church. Meanwhile, Alexia has been left, once again, to face her demons and take care of herself- and their son- on her own.

The story continues as a split-narrative, which especially works since Justin and Alexia are apart for most of the book. It was my hope that with Justin being absent, Alexia would grow and mature. Overall, I was not disappointed. Instead of becoming immobilized by her fear and insecurity, Alexia became angry. While she did a few dumb and dangerous things in the subconscious hope that they would bring Justin home, she also showed some tenacity when she, of her own free will, decided to invest in a friend’s business and become her business partner. This was a notable decision, as women within Les Portes De L'Ange do not typically make decisions, especially financial ones, on their own.

Within the first several pages of Healing the Faith, we do learn a little more about how Les Portes de L'Ange was instituted and the four communities that make up their faith. There are still a whole host of questions left to be answered about the church community, but the focus of the story is more about he characters within the community than the community itself. Later in the book, Michele introduces a new cast of characters from the other communities, who come together to help Justin and Les Portes de L'Ange on their mission to find Mark. I actually found that I liked some of the secondary characters much more than the main characters.

Healing the Faith is not without a few aggravating scenes between the two main characters. I still found it hard to connect with them on some levels, but I realize that their behavior was realistic, given their circumstances and upbringing. This story, like its predecessor, is not without tragedy and sadness. We learn more about the painful past that both Justin and Alexia have hid from each other, and we experience the loss of a friend right alongside them. Getting to know the two main characters better in Healing the Faith puts their actions in Mocked by Faith in perspective. With that said,, I found myself getting so mad about how “ruled over” the women are in this community that I shouted out loud. Talk about a strong reaction! :) Fair warning: If you value women’s rights and equality, some parts of this book may turn you off.

Healing the Faith is fast-paced and action-packed, which will keep you flipping pages to find out what happens next. While the book ended on a bit of a weak note, it had a much more engaging story-line than its predecessor, and I was pleased with the growth I witnessed in the characters. Will Justin and the “brotherhood” catch the bad guy? Will Alexia give Justin another chance? Will the community ever find healing? You’ll have to read the book to find out :)(less)

This book picks up where the first book left off and continues the story. Alexia is hurt by the choice that Justin has made whilst he believes it's the best thing he could have done, not just for them, but for their entire community. (I have to admit, I agree with him)

As the book moves forward, both characters are up to their usual thinking they're not good enough for the other - That's my only complaint about the books. The characters need to realise that they are perfect for each other.

Michele Richard has defiantly done it again with Mocked by Faith Healing the Faith. Her characters Justin and Alexia McNear seemed to come alive while reading them. I felt for them through their trials and through their triumphs. There were scary moments where I could feel their fear and happy times when I could feel that happiness. Healing the Faith is the powerful next book in this awesome series. Yes, there I said it awesome!!!
It is exciting to be able to finally do this review. I have been waiting to post this review since I finished reading the book. Alexia and Justin the main characters here. The heart stomping, tear jerking, laugh

When a book takes you from so many different emotions it can get you all twisted up within the characters life's and that is exactly what Healing the Faith did for me. I could not put the book down. You (or I) have to know what is going to happen next. That is the type of story that Michele has written within these pages of Healing the Faith.

As a reader it is important to me to be able to put myself into the lives of the characters within the book. And Michele does exactly that with her characters. They go through life trials just like we do. Her story of Alexia having her heart broken over and over again, only to have Justin living with his own torched past. Not to mention their families and friends here. Wow, just as I said in the beginning, Awesome!

Let us not forget that fighting for the right things in life are important. That some times obstacles do come and life does have a way of hurting and healing. Sometimes all at the same time, while at other times it may take longer. In Michele's book, Mocked by Faith, we saw how these two young people finally find each other, how life is not all happy ever after, so to speak, to them. Then, here in Healing the Faith, you will find that even threw tough, some times alone times, still can bring two people together and make them even stronger than before.

This is the reasons that I was so engrossed in the book, could not put it down till I had read it within two days time. I do tremendously love Author Michele Richard's books. I would recommend this book to any of my followers who enjoys life situations, and engrossing themselves into a "awesome," tear jerking, laughing, screaming, down to earth, realistic book. So for those reason I am giving this one a rating of: yea you got it:

I was so excited of reading this book since I’ve read the first one, “Mocked by Faith” which really hooked me up. But “Healing the Faith”, didn’t hit me as hard as the first one did.

I still like Ms. Richard’s writing, I still enjoyed the plot and the storyline , as well as the old characters and the new one. Each one is still distinct and the readers could relate too. There’s also enough room to know the new characters. And I really like it when the author makes use each of them, in this one, each has a vital role.

I still love Justin, the ever-loyal and caring husband, who even though was damaged by his past experiences, he still strives to be a good husband and to redeem his faith. But in this book, I am quite annoyed with Alexia, she’s whiny and selfish . I understand that it’s normal for a wife to be a little depressed and angry when your husband leave you even if there’s a good reason behind it. But her behavior is over the line- it’s not so realistic- well, maybe if someone is that unstable when it comes to emotions.

Although the ending is a bit rushed, I enjoyed the action and the twist. The resolution at the end, makes reading the book worthwhile. I don’t think, there’s another sequel for this one. The story seems to have its final closure.

What just bothered me, *note this is my personal opinion*, even if for arguments sake, this is purely fiction, it seems that they worship angels, the 7 Archangels mentioned in the Bible, well that’s how I understand it. And yet they rely on the bible, then why worship something which is clearly not God. I’m a Christian, so I’m a little bit reactive on this issue. This was supposed to be a book with the theme faith and yet it reverts to that very idea.

All in all, disregarding the faith issue mentioned above, this is quite a good book about a young couple trying to heal not just their relationship but also their faith. (less)

Healing the Faith is a magnificent installment for the next phase in this incredible series. The characters are well developed through their experiences and their lives. The turmoil throughout this book carried a duality of emotion that makes you want to cry one second and laugh the next. There needs to be more books like this one, a book that makes you embrace their hardships and root for the characters to succeed in their journey to better themselves. Michele Richard is an amazing author who brings these immense illustrations to life and delivers the story in book form to us!
The reader should be able to relate to these characters in Healing the Faith, making the book come to life before your eyes. This is one reason I keep coming back to Richard’s books. One major topic in this book that most of us can relate to is the feeling of inadequacy! Sometimes this feeling creeps up on us and it is hard to shake that feeling that we are not good enough… This is one primary concern between the two main characters and their journey to cope with this issue.
Time and time again, Alexia gets her poor heartbroken... In Healing the Faith it’s not any different; her heart is shredded to pieces when her husband takes off to fight one of his own dark demons. She should of course support her husband’s need to battle for the churches’ money. But, instead she starts to feel like she is inadequate, this emotion makes her believe that she is not enough to keep her husband (Justin) at home and remain in love with her.
Justin fights against his haunting past and the curse of human nature in this tremendous book. He goes off to search for this ‘minister’ who stole all the churches money and who is responsible for Justin hurtful and horrifying past. Justin’s voyage is something he feels that he must do, so he goes off, leaving his wife and son at home to pick up the pieces.

In the first book Mocked by Faith Justin and Alexia get married and start their lives. Now in Healing the Faith, it is about them taking the next steps in life, but we all misstep right? I love how in this book you see them both fight to keep it all together! The books that show flawed characters are the best, because nobody is perfect and these two main characters are no exception to the rule.
I loved this book for how different it is; it was not all about their love, it was about each of them growing as people themselves, letting themselves love the other, and trusting themselves to be good enough for the other.
It’s one of those books that from cover to cover you will be immersed in the characters lives and you will not want the book to end. I read Healing the Faith in about four hours, I could not stop reading and I know you all will feel the same way about it when you read Alexia’s and Justin’s journey through Healing the Faith!
I cannot wait for more of this series and these great characters. Michele Richard’s is a top notch author in my book and this spectacular book is already at the top of my best books of 2012 list!

Another amazing book by an incredible author. Michele Richard follows up Mocked by Faith with an incredible sequel. In Healing the Faith, Justin and Alexia find themselve facing the toughest challenges of their young, married lives. Battling through anger, self-doubt, and barely managable grief, they somehow find their way, coming out strong in the end. I highly recommend all of Michele Richard's books.
