I recently revisited this series, after picking up the third book at the library. I'd forgotten that I'd never read the second book, but it didn't matter at all. Maximum Ride books read like an action movie; fast-paced and thrilling, with split-second (and not always plausible) plot-twists.
Maximum Ride is fourteen, has long blonde-streaked hair, and remains tall and slender even at 3,000 calories a day. Due to her 2% of avian DNA, she can also fly at 200 miles an hour. But don't get too ...more

Fang is critically injured on the way to DC by a flying Eraser attack. They have no choice but to go to the hospital, and their secret is discovered. The Flock is questioned by the FBI, and in return for Fang's treatment, Max reluctantly agrees for the Flock to stay with Anne Walker, an agent until Fang recovers. After a few days, Anne enrolls the Flock in a school run by William Pruitt. Fang and Max date people from the school named Lissa and Sam, and Iggy is friends with Tess, another girl. Bu...more

I thought the series did not get off to a very great start. It seemed vary spasmatic, jumping from one place and goal to another location, another directive, and an extreme set of character developments - namely, their odd gifts (breathing underwater, the Voice in Max's head, etc. all sorts of stuff that jumps way out of the blue and which Patterson could have done without). The second book also jumps around a bit, but far less than the first in the series. I think this is why I probably enjo...more

Summary: Max, Fang, Iggy, Gasman, Nudge, and Angel are the key characters in Maximum Ride but Max is the Main character. It starts off when they all escape a lab full of "Mad Scientists". Their main goal is to find their birth parents and basically live happily ever after. Many fights and conflicts happen such as battle's with flying wolf creatures.

If you want to know what the book is about, read the synopsis. I stopped doing book reports when I was in grade school. If you want to know what I thought of the book, read on.
I finished reading the book and really enjoyed it. The writing was crisp and was a real page turner. The idea of the flock and the way Patterson is slowly revealing more and more about what Max is supposed to do is what is keeping this interesting for me. I'm kind of hit and miss with first-person narratives but...more

I found the premise of this story to be very interesting. The whole idea of genetically altered mutant bird-kids on the run is extremely intriguing. It's filled with a lot of action and adventure, and is often exciting. Yet, the development of the plot can be very awkward at times. For example, the Flock, as they are called, and frequently attacked by bands of Erasers, and then suddenly leave after they get beat up. It's as if the author is inserting these confrontations for the action alon...more

I just loved James Patterson's Murder Club Series so my sister suggested I try the Maximum Ride series. Another great series from Mr. Patterson. Although I did not like this one as much as the first.
The six genetically engineered bird children have escaped from the wolf-hybrid Erasers again, Max is still hearing The Voice in her head, and she is still reeling from the revelation that Ari, the most persistent of all the Erasers, is dead by her hand and that he might be her brother. From thi...more

Yup, another James Patterson book. This one is called Maximum Ride: School's Out Forever.
I must admit that this series of books kind of confuses me. I thought I remember something happening in the last one (pretty important) that was never addressed in this one, but yet they are set up to work like a series with the same characters and all. Weird.

Anybody who's looking for a good read
After reading this it totally made me want to read more. I think though the best part of this is how each chapter is so short and yet the author somehow manages to keep a cliffhanger at the end of each chapter. That's like making up somewhere around 200 (give or take) cliffhangers. These were the cliffhangers at the end of each chapter that kept me going. Also, the author does a great job tying in all sorts of genres. There's fantasy, adventure, thrill and he manages to tie in humor and r...more

This book is a "page turner" a fun and easy to read novel which you can easily finish in a few days. It's the continuing story of Max and her flock of bird kids and their quest to discover their past and their purpose for being created. I found this book much more satisfying then the first book, because the characters had a chance to settle into a location and build their relationships, unlike the first book when they were constantly on the run. The twists and turns are getting even mo...more

In this sequel to his first Maximum Ride YA novel, Patterson keeps up the punishing pace and rollercoaster action. Max and her flock are still searching for their parents and still trying to elude the white coats and the erasers intent on killing them. Set only days after the events of the first novel the pace is fast and furious. Somehow, despite the fast pace this thing is still GOOD. In fact, I'm pretty well caught and dammit I love the characters.

Maximum Ride: School's Out Forever is the sequel to Mazimum Ride: The Angel Experiment. In this book, the flock gets "adopted" by an FBI agent. They get a fairly normal life, and juggle homework and an atrociously nasty headmaster with finding out who their parents are and figuring out how and when to save the world. Also, Max is forced to face her worst enemy: herself.

Second book in the Maximum Ride series.
The story picks up 24 hours after the end of the first book. Ari is dead (or is he?) and Max is not sure how to feel. As Max and the rest of the flock continue the search for their parents and their purpose, they run into one exciting situation after another, including a Max clone who thinks she can replace Max and betray the flock with no one the wiser. Lots of action and not a whole lot of character development, but Total (the dog) now talks and I ...more

Nice young adult, simple adventure. I enjoyed the even hand the author takes in this series with regards to female characters. While the lead male characters are stereotypical (big, wanna-be-bad wolf boy antagonist and strong & silent male protagonist), the female characters are pretty evolved. Not necessarily plausible given that they're a bunch of mutants. :)But I'll give a hand for the effort.

The sequel to one of the most exciting books I've ever read, this book is less action-packed than its predecessor. Not to say it isn't still riveting. I finished it in about three or four days. I just couldn't stop reading. As the flying kids continue their adventures, I continue reading. So while it isn't the same thrill as the first one, it is still rife with interesting characters, layered plot, and exciting twists. Don't miss this one.

Kalo liat judulnya, mungkin kita berpikir: Loh, kan emang mereka udah pada 'cabut' dari The School?' Sayangnya, itu dia yang jadi poin plus di sini. The flocks akhirnya merasakan kehidupan sekolah normal. Sumpah, gue penggemar berat cerita sekolah, jadi gue bener-bener enjoy. Pada akhir cerita, lagi-lagi James Patterson mengeluarkan jurus andalannya dengan membuat kejutan. Hwehehehe. Gileee. Sebanding, deh sama Darren Shan!

I read the first book in the series and liked it, but had heard from a couple of librarian friends that the second one doesn't measure up. After reading it I don't necessarily agree. I thought it was fine. The Erasers are still coming after Max and her crew, and they never quit, no matter how many times Max escapes or beats them up. For the right reader I'm sure these are wonderful, but I'm done now.

"“Did you know that wasn’t me, the other Max?” I asked.
“Yeah.”
“When?”
“Right away.”
“How?” I persisted. “We look identical. She even had identical scars and scratches. She was wearing my clothes. How could you tell us apart?”
He turned to me and grinned, making my world brighter. “She offered to cook breakfast.”
