Kind of silly, kind of melancholy. An ornithologist sets out on the trail of the last living dodo, long-since taken from its native islands and kept as...kind of weird and bad-tasting poultry. A look at the American South and its people, as well as at our relationship with the animals of the Earth.

I wish I could say more, but it's really just a fun story. The very notion that one of the most bereaved animal extinctions ever could have been prevented if a bunch of people weren't hungry.

Best enjoyed in audio format on the drabblecast. They do a bang up job of layering in meanings that go beyond the text.
