Carlotta Wren has always dreamed of taking a vacation from her life as daughter to fugitive parents and mother to her younger brother, Wesley. So when she is temporarily suspended from her job at Neiman Marcus, the invitation from hunky body mover Cooper Craft to ride to Florida for some fun in the sun and a VIP body pickup seems like a good idea.…

And then Wesley tags alon

*thud-thud-thud* That's me banging my head against the wall. Stephanie Bond's third installment in her "Body Movers" series has me wanting to smack every single character upside the head! Carlotta's man troubles -- *SMACK* -- Wesley's gambling and drug problems -- *SMACK* -- Jack's "I-really-like-you-but-it's-a-conflict-of-interest-to-see-you" -- *SMACK* -- Peter's "I've-finally-seen-the-light-and-want-to-marry-you" -- *DOUBLE SMACK* (for not being man-enough in the first place) -- Coop's too ni ...more

The further into these books I get the less I like them. I have the next two in the series and I'll probably read them but honestly I'm asking myself if I should even bother.

Instead of a review of the book, let me give you a review of the characters.

Carlotta = Spineless. She's basically a doormat for the men in her life. She seems to like it.

Wesley = Selfish and self absorbed. He's sleeping with Liz, his lawyer who has also slept with his father. He doesn't seem to think there's anything weird a

Dear Carlotta and Wesley. Both of you have acknowledged to yourselves that you are horrible at making a good decision. By my count, about one out of every five major decisions you make is a good one. And the other four, doozies. Particularly, you, Wesley. O.o

May I make a suggestion? Whenever you need to make a decision, go with the opposite of what you were planning. And also? Get some therapy. Stat. You have daddy issues and serious emotional stuntedness. I don't care if daddy dearest was fram

Stephanie Bond's 'Body Movers' series is more of a romantic mystery than anything else. Bond has a great touch with adding humor to her stories, the mysteries are well-plotted, and there are ongoing and changing relationships (romantic and familial) that run throughout. There are currently six books in the series and the author's website says there may be more. These books made me laugh and made me sigh and even get a little overheated in some spots. In some ways, this series reminds me of Evano ...more

I like this series but sometimes Carlotta Wren gets on my nerves. She's got three men dangling on the hook and IMHO two of the three aren't worthy. So what's the dilemma? Detective Jack Terry is hunting her runaway (from justice) father and plans to have him incarcerated. What's the attraction here? Peter Ashford, her high school boyfriend/fiance, dumped her like a hot potato when the charges against her father were announced. Hello! On the other hand, Dr. Cooper Craft is a wonderful man who is ...more

For someone with a supposedly genius IQ, Wesley is making a lot of bad decisions! And I hope Carlotta makes a decision soon about the guys, even though they always seem to be conveniently available whenever she gets into trouble!

Again the murder mystery is almost secondary to the continuing saga of Carlotta's missing parents that I also hope we get some resolution soon!

This one was def not the best one. I really was mad at Carlotta most of the book, thinking WHY are you getting yourself into this mess for no reason? At least the last two cases involved you. Also, I hope she has health insurance all that time she is spending In the er.
I don't know what to make of Wesley's newest addiction or the fact that he is ok doing his fathers mistress because he reminds her of his father?!? And how is it all these dumb decisions are not catching up with him? Like leavin

All I can say is Wow, really liked this story. Carlotta is having a run of bad luck, beginning with her parents.
But boy this lady has more men intrested in her than well anyone. Still book kept me intrested all the way to the end. I cannot wait for the next in the series, too bad it is not until april.

I refuse to read another book in this series. Carlotta Wren is a pushover, and I'm sick of wishy-washy main characters. This is incredible!!! Where have all the good female leads gone?!!! I'm not gonna waste anymore time reading about her being a human doormat.

Romantic tension, family problems and celebrity murder keep things interesting in this third installment in the Body Movers series.

Carlotta needs to cut her brother loose to sink or swim on his own. His bratty spoiled selfish behavior takes away from the mystery. It also brings in too much extraneous baggage.

Carlotta Wren continues to prove she's a bit of a trouble magnet. Still recuperating from her last adventure, with her arm in a cast, she is bored out of her mind being off work. When the sexy Cooper Craft, her brother's boss, calls her to see if she would like to go on an special body pickup (he's a body hauler for his uncle's funeral home and the morgue) to Florida, she jumps at the chance of having a mini-vacation. First of all, let me say that I am being generous with the 2-star rating. You know how you've read reviews about Carlotta and Wesley being "too stupid to live"... They are. Abashedly so. Seriously --how many times is this woman going to butt her way into investigations before Jack arrests her? Seriously --he should have already!

Basically the premise of this book is that this socialite with checkered morale (very ala Paris Hilton, in my opinion) dies of a supposed asthma attack. Coop gets the cal

Carlotta's men trouble seems to be taking over these books and is driving me nuts. I think it is because I sort of feel like Carlotta. There are times when I think that Jack is the best one for her, then he acts like a jackass, and I want him to go away. At times Peter seems like he would be better, especially with his words during the big trouble, but then I remember how fast he dropped her when she was 18. It seems like Carlotta got over that, but I haven't. Then there is Cooper, the only faul ...more

I listened to this book via audible. To be honest, the narrator is driving me crazy!!! Her voices for Peter and Hannah are just plain awful!! I'm not sure if that is why I'm having a hard time liking this series or if I just can't get into the characters. Carlotta is 28 and had to grow up quickly to care for her underage brother when their parents left town. Not to mention that she has struggled every step of the way. So in my mind, the lead character should be a strong and independent woman. No ...more

I was ready to give up on this series, then I picked this book up from my library paperback share racks. This is a really good book with a strong romance element (no sex), conflicted heroine (three awesome guys all want her), an great ongoing story arc, and a mystery to solve in the here and now.

Carlotta can't find Wesley for almost 24 hours. He has gotten himself in deep s--- with a loan shark and the guy wants a pound of flesh. Ex-fiancé, Peter to the rescue, this time. Now Wesley owes Peter

This book was a mixed bag.

Parts of it were quite entertaining. The main plot about the suspicious death of a celebrity socialite was fun and involving - exactly the kind of light mystery I was hoping for. The aspect of some of the characters being body haulers was unusual and added a different twist. I wish they would have gotten into that a little more.

Unfortunately, other parts of the story had me contemplating setting it down and not bothering to finish it. That included the beginning, whic

So, full disclosure, I've not read the earlier two books in the series and went into this one with a readerly expectation of a sort of romantic comedy murder mystery. Instead I got a very unlikeable character in the form of Wesley( how this kid keeps getting off with just community service is beyond me) ; his sister (our amateur sleuth) who is doing him no favors by constantly overlooking his screw ups and very little mystery. Oh and zero comedy. I have no idea now why I thought there would be h ...more

Carlotta has been temporarily suspended from her job and is recovering from a broken arm, both of which gives her a lot of time on her hands, er, hand. To fill the void she agrees to go out of town with Cooper to pick up the body of a local celebutante. Three men, each posing to have authority to pick up the body, try to steal the corpse away from Cooper. Not only is the trip ...more

I almost didn't take this book from the library because of the line on the front "A Sexy Mystery" Huh? I decided to see what this tag line meant. Sex was there, but no more than in most contemporary novels, in actuality the overwhelming focus of this title was the mystery.

Carolyn Wren, a clothing retailer, by chance gets herself into another murder case when she rides with one of her 3 suitors to Florida to pick up the body of a mega popular starlet. The Body Movers, occasionally employ her trou
