I've long considered myself a Denning fan, but this book fell a bit flat for me. A lot of the characterizations seemed a bit "off", and many of the details struck me as completely ridiculous (GAG "Doomsleds", for example.)

The ending of this 9-book saga seemed slightly unsatisfying, but what else was there to do? Things played out pretty much how they had to; I can accept the events as they happened, even if I didn't like them. (Although the new choice for Chief of State is a More...

Oh, I LOVED this one. But, beware, spoilers abound in this review.

I had pretty much figured out that Jaina would be the one to have to kill Caedus (Jacen, her twin, if you don't know) by the time he became Caedus. The Prophecy of Jaina being the Sword of the Jedi has been around since about the middle of the NJO series; it was only a matter of time before we saw what it ultimately entailed.

A lot of people don't like the book, or the whole LotF series at all. People have brought up points like, " More...

nice ending - satisfying in all the expected and nice ways.

just a bit odd.

denning has managed again to produce a very action packed novel - with enough emphasis on all the characters - but it doesn't have the political gravitas of the other two writers]'s offerings. its just action. there's no intrigue at all.

also the ending itself is a little confused - leave aside jaina and jacen - which i was fine with - its more the making daala chief - er she's an imperial! maybe she is good like pelleon bu More...

A great end to a great Star Wars series. This series pushed the ethical, moral, and thematic boundaries of the Star War universe, and this book in particular lived up to the rest of the series. The final battle between Jacen and Jaina was great and the aftermath will leave both the readers and the characters asking questions that will surely permeate future Star Wars novels beyond the Legacy of the Force series. I gave it only 4 stars though for one simple reason: too short. t 299 pages, Troy De More...

A riveting, really great book—despite a few personal qualms...
(Now, be warned - the rest of this review is packed with spoilers!)

It makes me so sad that Jacen had to die—I admit I was really holding out hope for his redemption. Jacen's end was the only thing I was really unsure of coming into this series. Nonetheless, I did see his ultimate demise coming and figured it would be inevitable, and there were so many points in earlier books when I wanted to strangle him that his death felt justifi More...

The conclusion of the Legacy of the Force series. From the previous books in the series it was clear what was going to happen to Darth Caedus. But there are a few surprises at the end of the book for some of the other characters like the mandalorians (especially Boba Fett and Mirta), Tenel Ka, Allana, Shevu, Isolder, Jagged Fel, Zekk??? Ben Skywalker and Tahiri. This makes the book highly recommendable.
The author also presents a different view of the whole character that is Jacen Solo. It More...

Like the end of The Matrix trilogy, this final novel in the 9-book Star Wars: Legacy of the Force series was a major letdown. It's as if the authors spent so much time developing the supporting characters' stories that they forgot about the main one - the fall of Jacen Solo and the rise of Darth Caedus.

In fact, Caedus didn't entirely take on his Sith identity until this final book. We at least got to see the full Darth Vader for half of the six Star Wars movies.

All in all More...

Disheartened by Invincible and its very abrupt unapologetic ending, (which I maintain is the saddest EU book of all time) I picked up Solo Command moments later to reassure myself that SW books can be fun. So that's not a great sign but I got right into Solo Command.

Invincible has problems. If it weren't the last book of a 2 year 9 book cycle it wouldn't be so bad. Not at all but...it was. And Invincible gives any Star Wars EU fan a handful of hopelessness. I invested what? $130 buck More...

I knew someone HAD to take Jacen down, he was just too powerful. It was sad that it had to be someone in his family, as I don't think anyone else is as powerful in the Force as they are, but it was good that it was Jaina. It was weird that Leia didn't want to originally even have kids as she was scared of them going down her father, Anakin Skywalkers path of evil as Darth Vader, and her son did the exact same thing. Thought he was the only one that could be able to save the w More...

I found the final installment in this series of this book to be rather disappointing. Initially, this series had a lot of potential and the best books in the series were written by Karen Traviss, who I wish they would have given the honor to in completing this collection. I felt the pace of the story was rushed and that Denning just wanted to get this series done rather than make it good. Finally, I felt this series left enough loose threads for another series of books, which I can only assume t More...

The climatic ending of the Legacy of the Force series! I guess it ended the only way it really could, but it still felt tragic with more classic characters meeting their end. One redemption though - so the SW standard of evi characters coming back to the light still holds. It was very well-written with most of the characters finally getting their heads screwed on right, but it was still a sad end. Now I must relive the good times by re-reading the Young Jedi Knights series - a time when all opti More...

I think that in the context of a sci-fi space opera, the "Legacy of the Force" storyline has been pretty brilliant (its not trying to cure cancer). But this last book was quite disappointing. After reading the pretty amazing "Revelation" by Karen Traviss, you kind of have to wonder what happened. Traviss spent that whole novel meticulously building great characterizations of Jacen, Ben, Luke, Niathal, Daala, Palleaon, and most impressively, Boba Fett, who has spent most of hi More...

This is the last book in a 9 book series set some 30 or 40 years after Return of the Jedi. The series as a whole has been fantastic, with quite a few plot twists and surprises. This last book proved to be a bit of a disappointment. Generally speaking, I have absolutely loved every Troy Denning book that I have read. This guy is a GREAT author! I'm not sure if he was left with too much or too little to cover in this series finale, but the book just felt a little off. Where previous books dealt wi More...

The "Legacy of the Force" arc in the Star Wars universe draws to a close in this hardcover finale by Troy Denning. He and authors Karen Traviss and Aaron Allston have been cycling through the 9 books of the series, which highlight yet another galactic civil war in which the Skywalkers and Solos come to the aid of the galaxy. However, there are a few twists this time around - Luke is joined by his wife, Mara, and son Ben, while the Solos are split - Han and Leia fighting for the seced More...

The climax to the LEGACY OF THE FORCE series was ... breathtaking, yet I can't help but have an "anti-climax" after finishing the book (probably it's because I finised it in one day!).

Still, there could only be one ending after all.

I am surprised with the way some of the characters died though (Shevu, Prince Isolder) ... just seems too easy.

One grouse - why wasn't Jaina's story finalised as well?

Still, a good book and it concluded the LE

Not much of an ending for Darth Caedus. His death was somehow weak. To think he was able to survive a one-on-one battle with Jedi Grandmaster Luke Skywalker, he died in a battle with Jaina by dropping his guard intentionally so he could protect his daughter.

Despite his sacrifices and trials to become a true Sith Lord, his immense knowledge with the Force all went in vain and have done nothing to make him that ruthless and earn a much deserved ending to his reign of terror.

This is the last of a series of 9 new books set a good ways after the "holy trinity" of movies in the Star Wars timeline. It's after the Yuuzhan Vong invasion and war, and the Galactic Alliance formed from the remains of the beaten and battered New Republic is having no less than a civil war.

Those crazy Corellians have split off from the GA for more autonomy, and in the midst of it all, a new Sith Lord is in the making.

Very well written - three authors rotated More...

The title of this book should be Redemption, because that's what it does for the Legacy of the Force series. Denning is the best of the new Star Wars writers and while he's no Tim Zahn, he certainly does a much better job capturing not only illustrating the characters of the Star Wars universe in proper form, but capture the elements of adventure and action that made the franchise so popular to begin with. His dialogue is witty and sharp, and he doesn't feel compelled to give explanations for More...

A disappointing ending to a disappointing series. I started this series with Bloodlines and thought this could be a good series. Karen Traviss was the only one of the three authors worth reading in this series. I think that Aaron Alston's insistence on the Han and Leia storyline and Troy Dennings absolute inability to develop characters doomed this series from the start. Not a series worth reading.

Over all, these books do a better job of expanding the Star Wars mythology than Lucas's own prequels. The heroes of the Rebellion have grown into leaders who try to fashion a New Republic from the ashes of the Galactic Empire. Each author really captures the voice of the characters, as well as the feel of the universe as a whole.

This is the last book of the current storyline, in which Luke, Han, and Leia must once again face a civil war tearing the galaxy apart and the totalitar More...

This series was flwaed from the start, and the final installment fulfilled the disappointment. It wasn't a bad read, overall, but the choices this trio of writers made w/these beloved characters were often infuriating. Killing people off unexpectedly works once in a while, but when it becomes a regular go-to move, the whole experience is cheapened (just watch the last season of "24," for example). I read this series more out of habit than desire, since I've been reading SW fiction for More...

This series took the New Jedi Order cast to an all to familiar level. I felt that the story was engaging, the characters well developed and the story line quick, but it fell into the same Starwars trap. While a New Jedi Order challenged the status quo and soared to new heights, this story failed to live up to the gigantic bar that its predecessor set.

A great and tragic ending. Well done series in my mind and leads well into the next as this kind of war...with both sides stemming from the same family will lead to serious ramifications. A lot of people died because of one family (albeit a very powerful family) dirty laundry can throw the galaxy in chaos.
