Female detectives seem to have a knack for finding trouble. Lots of trouble. But imagine the kinds of mischief a female private eye would get into if she also sidelined as a stripper.

In Vegas.

Exotic dancer Raven McShane doesn't want to be a stripper forever. She's always wanted to be a cop, but the cops won't hire her... for obvious reasons. When she launches a private d

I liked this book...I didn't think it was to much like the Stephanie Plum series at all. Good, fun read. Yes Raven is a stripper but hello, the title should tell you something! It didn't bother me at all!

This brother and sister writing team is no slouch when it comes to murder mysteries. Just who killed George Hannity. Dissatisfied that the accused Cody Masterson was found innocent and set free; Georges widow Rachael wants some answers and to sue Cody for pain and suffering. She hires her friend PI Raven McShane to find the answers. As well as being a private investigator, Raven is an exotic dancer and uses this position to glean information from various pl

Reminds me of Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milhone and Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum. While her day job (or night job, as the case is) make this a difficult book to discuss in mixed commpany, the novel is very well composed. Overall, a very well done whodunit.

I agree with the other reviewer who said she'd prefer if there weren't as much about the detective's "side job". it seemed like her main job was being a stripper, and I am not into that at all. But the second part of the book heated up a lot and if you can get passed some awkward moments with her lawyer-friend it is a good read.

Really solid mystery with some fun and adult situations thrown in. It wasn't wacky like Evanovich but there were some funny parts too.

I wish I could write a review and give this 0 or negative stars. I downloaded it, and am happy it was free because I got what I paid for. The buzz on this book was Kinsey Milhone (by Sue Grafton) meets Stephanie Plum (by Janet Evanovich). Ummm, not so much. The mystery was fairly pedestrian, and I guess culprit by the third chapter. The author obviously strived to be as outrageous as a Stephanie Plum novel. This just made the main character seem harder, promiscuous, and to have no morals at all. ...more

Light-hearted and fun. If you like Vegas, mysteries, and strong female lead characters, you'll enjoy this cleanly written story. I hope to read more about Raven McShane soon.

I really liked the way that these authors played the city of Las Vegas. They did show an intimate knowledge of the city and it's inhabitants that added to the story line. Though I was a little disappointed in Raven, I picked out the bad guys three chapters in and it took her to almost the very end to pick out what was going on. And seeing how the story was in first in person Raven had all the same information I did, I got a little frustated with her for going off on other angles. But it wouldn't ...more

Interesting story about a Skin Worker in Las Vegas who involved herself in the work part time to pay for college while she was getting her degree and continued after graduation and acquiring her private eye's license because the money was so good. Her good friend and former Skin Worker (Rachael) came to town after blowing a fortune she inherited when her husband was killed. Her gambling problem left her in debt to the mob and she was facing the prospect of having to repay her debt on her back. T ...more

I had high hopes, but either it was just okay, or I'm sick of reading. And, as a book addict, I refuse to acknowledge the second as an option.

2.5 Stars Really

I came away really disappointed in this book. There was so much potential for humor with the type of characters used, but even though the author tried I just didn't find it funny at all. The mystery itself was ok and I didn't guess the bad guy like some other readers did, but the story just dragged on with the main character repeating the details of the case constantly. I feel like as a reader I wasn't given enough credit - I didn't need to be spoon fed the story.

All in all quit

Just finished this but can't find out when the next one is coming out. I am in love with the heroine, Raven McShane, and want to keep following her.

Predictable ending and easy-to-solve whodunnit, but these 'cozy' books always are. These are usually three stars for me, but I am giving two stars for the characters. I could not get past the main character being a stripper. But Carlos was worse---a girlfriend and a baby and still hitting on Raven? What an ass. Also I didn't like how Mike was depicted. Not sure why the author made him Mormon. I'm sure a lot of people will love this, but it wasn't for me.

Raven McShane is a private detective, and she's also a Las Vegas stripper. An old friend asks her to find proof who killed her husband. She is pulled into a whirlwind of murder and cover ups and literal dead ends that could lead to her being the next victim of she isn't careful.

The book is a little slow getting started but once it picks up it is fast paced and exciting. I had my suspicions about who did it and I was sort of right...half right anyway but I was pleasantly surprised about how it al

I had mixed reactions to this book. I was pulled in by the statement that implied it was like the Stephanie Plum novels. Was it? Kinda and kinda not. If you don't like Vegas, you won't like this book. During the hours when she is not trying to figure out who killed her best friend's husband, the heroine is a stripper at one of the Vegas casinos. She makes money by lap dancing for her "special" clients. Sounds far-fetched, I know, but if you can get by that premise, you can enjoy the story. It di ...more

A rip-roaring tale of corruption in Vegas. Raven is an exotic dancer by night and a beginning PI by day. She gets caught up in trying to help her friend Rachel win a civil suit. Her former brother-in-law had been acquitted of murdering her husband even though every one thought he was guilty. She decides to sue him for the wrongful death and asks Raven to help her prove his guilt. Raven finds much more than she bargained for as she starts to investigate. She uncovers embezzlement and suspects tha ...more

I received an ARC eBook in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I have read by Stephanie Caffrey and it most certainly won't be my last! This is the first book in her fun new Raven McShane Mysteries series. This book had me laughing out loud at times as well as flipping pages as the suspense was building in her investigation. Her zany sidekicks and the crazy cast of characters made this an hilarious detective mystery that I found difficult to put down. Add the fact that it all t ...more

Raven McShane is a beautiful, 32 year old stripper with a heart of gold and a private investigator's license. She has a hot male mentor/sidekick that she lusts after, but he's not a party-boy type. He's a smart and sexy mormon private investigator who doesn't know that Raven's a stripper. This whole premise takes a whole lot of 'suspending disbelief' for me. The mystery was pretty well done. I didn't guess 'who dunnit' ahead of time. I liked Raven well enough, but I learned much more about lap d ...more

'Diva Las Vegas' took me by surprise. I was hooked from the start. The storyline was unique and full of surprises. The way the story unfolded was action packed, humorous and had quite a dramatic mystery. The characters were not the typical PI based stigma, nor were they the usual rough leads. Raven was hilarious. I loved her personality. Dancer by night, PI by day. Such an odd combination, but she made it work. Carlos and Mike were complete opposites, yet they both were great characters. I loved ...more

The series had promise. Had being the operative word. The descriptions used within the book are seriously lacking, as is any attempt at structural development of a scene, plot, etc. The author needs to take some creative writing classes or surround herself with a stellar writing group or friends who'll give honest feedback. It was far too easy to guess how the book would end. The final scene was unnecessarily crass, tongue in cheek or implied rape of a gay man by a heterosexual woman? Not cool.

I got this book using the Amazon Prime Membership - free reading. I came away with so so thoughts on this story. It's a decent concept, with time may become a great series. But, wasn't impressed with it. Seems like I've read it before. Woman entering the private investigation field and needing two men to bail her out. The story slowed down to a grind as Raven stumbles around for answers. Gay men trying to keep their sexuality a secret, bad guys trying to kill Raven and the killer finally showing ...more

Stripper turned PI

Raven is a Stripper. She is also a Private Investigator. Her former coworkers Rachel owes a lot of money for Gambling debts and wants Raven to investigate the death of Rachel's husband in order to get some money to pay off the debts. This story is crazy and goes all over the place in a good way. I loved this book and plan to read more of this series. I think you should too.

A fast read, but extremely predictable. Though I may have enjoyed it more if there had been less girl-hate and slut-shaming, which was odd considering the MC is a stripper; but almost every other female character was characterized as less attractive than the MC or a sex-crazed bitch she instantly disliked.

Also, the author actually used the phrase "stepping off the reservation" which I found offensive and kind of soured me on the whole story.

Probably won't be continuing with the series.

Easy, light read. Nothing exceptionally memorable. If you want a light, popcorn book that doesn't leave a big impression, this one might be for you. If you're looking for depth, character development or even a strong mystery (it was pretty easy to see who did it long before the reveal) look elsewhere. As a free kindle download and the few hours of reading... I didn't hate it. Had I paid for it, I would have been upset with myself.

I received an ARC of this book for my honest review. I found the characters here very intriguing. Raven McShane is a brand new private investigator just getting her feet wet in the world of Las Vegas PI work. She has a rag tag team of helpers that lend to comedic results. There were multiple twists that kept me interested. I'm certainly looking forward to Raven's next adventure!

It wasn't like a Janet Evanovich books. It wasn't funny like Janet's books and thought using her boobs was pretentious. I couldn't wait to get done with the book. I figured out the ending long before the Raven figured it out and to assume a gay guy won't be gay for even 1 night, the author knows nothing about gays.

Raven, Mike, Cody, and Carlos..Great characters, great cozy mystery. Raven, stripper and beginner private eye gets a big case from her friend Rachel. Find out who really killed George, Rachel's husband and casino owner. Lots of funny parts and awkward moments. Great twists and turns. A very enjoyable read. Can't wait for the next book. Highly recommend.
