This is a lovely little volume of bite-sized mysteries for kids (or adults) to solve. Despite the title I was expecting twelve 'mysterious' stories but actually these are puzzles - at the end of each chapter the reader is invited to come up with the answer before turning to the next page where everything is explained! I found this to be a very clever format rather like a pocket travel game but in book form. The puzzles are mixed; relying on logic, plus a little calculation and general knowledge. ...more
