Red herrings abound in this cozy mystery. I found myself asking "whodunit?" right up until the murderer's unmasking.

Woven throughout the tale is the systematic dismantling of the heroine's Christmas tree by her cat, Soot. I think I owned that cat, once upon a time. Topping off the story is a sweet touch of romance between the heroine and the hunky hero, Sam. Will they figure out their attraction before it's too late?

As a Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden fan growing up, "Gold, Frankincense, and Murde...more

Gold, Frankincense, and Murder is a sweet, short, sleuthy story. While I would have preferred a little romance to go with this holiday treat, I enjoyed the tone and pace of this story. Donna is not your typical romance heroine and it was rather refre...more

Something smells fishy at the food pantry, and it isn’t the old cans of tuna.

I knew I was in for an entertaining story as soon as I met Donna on the first page. As Donna restocks the shelves at the food pantry, she’s mildly annoyed at having to fill in for Neal, who missed his shift for the second Saturday in a row. I could clearly picture her banging cans of food around as she groused about men and her nonexistent social life. Even t...more

Good seasonal read which makes you chuckle now and again.

I've just recently discovered the cozy mystery. Yes, I've read a few before and really enjoyed them, just didn't know what they were called. Barbara Early did a wonderful job with creating funny, endearing characters. I laughed out loud throughout the book. And the ending was great, tying everything together just right. Loved this little novella. If anything, I wish it was longer.
Quick read with some cute characters but not much mystery plot development. No real suspects or motives; the killer just comes out of left field with info the reader was never privy to.

The title had me as soon as I saw it. And the villain was a surprise. Quite enjoyable.

Barbara Early grew up buried in the snowy suburbs of Buffalo, NY, where she developed a love for all things sedentary: reading, writing, classic movies, and facebook scrabble. She holds a degree in Electrical Engineering, but her penchant for the creative caused her to run away screaming from the pocket-protector set. She taught for several years in a Christian school before home schooling her dau...more
