Okkkkkkkkkaaaaaay.
Well for one Chloe didn't die, *tantrum* *stomps feet* not faire!
I was so ready to read about her funeral being arranged and all that.
So yeah could say that was a set back, but that's ok because there's always book 6 right?

Yeah I'm still as much in love with Gage as ever.... But Marshall is definitely growing on me and might have won a piece of my heart, cute.

WOW. . .This book was amazing!! It was kind of all fan friendly, because it seemed to have the perfect mix of Logan and Gage. SOO glad Logan isnt evil after all, and still same old Logan =)
Really awesome installment to the Celestra series, cant wait for the next one! Already craving for more teasers from Ethereal's FB page =)

I'm going to try and get this out without sounding too mean because I love Addison Moore. She has such a great imagination and a way with words but this book was definitely my least favorite of the series and I'm going to tell you why.

Again, I found myself submerged in the life of Skyla Messenger, and again, I was not able to put my kindle down and come up for air!!! What is it about the Celestra series that has me so addicted? I feel like I am withdrawling now that I am finished reading Vex and I desperatly need to know when I can get my next fix.

I've managed to go through the five books in this series in little over two days! 'Vex' has left me hanging and craving more! I'm glad that Logan was only thinking of Skylar when he decided to like 'saccrafice' her but but I think I'd still be pissed at him. Let's just say I cried at the ending of this installement...so yehget the kleenex handy for one hell of a cliffhanger!

I stayed up until 4am reading this book! Yes this was an extreme all nighter for me. I was just so determined that I would complete it. I wanted to know what happened so badly and woah did something happen.

Skylar in this book is something else. She isn't very happy with Logan (an fair does the girl was freaking terrified) she also wants to just go the full way with Gage(girl just go for it you love each other, why you keep stalling?!) she has to deal with the bitchy crowd on a ski trip (and what a ski trip that is...) she has to go through even more death (especially to towards the end..p.s the reason I cried!) and yet she is still holding on...maybe just holding and know more but she is holding.

Logan is on the way to forgiveness though he is still not quite there for me yet. I understand he done what he done because of his love for Skylar but the boy still holds some secrets that I think might be better coming out sooner rather than later. He is however a bit more handy in this book, and more mature.

Gage is the unlucky ducky in this book...poor guy gets everything happening to him. As per usual! But he is still by far my favourite character and I hope he gets more book time :)

Chloe isn't actually such a main in this book as I thought she would be. This installement seems to have more mystery than anything and we are also introduced to so e more wicked characters in it that could play there part in the caos.

Over all this book series is just getting to its crescendo and I just can't wait till the 6th installement comes out! :) hurry hurry hurry! I need more Gage and I need more murder mystery :D x

Why does this book have 4.5 stars?

This is yet another series that I have been coaxed into beginning based on one of Amazon's .99 cent Kindle book deals. I even read a few reviews on Good Reads first, but did not heed the warnings, thinking "But its only .99 cents! How bad could it be for a buck?" Celeste’s Review: This story jumps immediately into action as it picks up where the cliff hanger ending of Wicked left off. For that I was glad, but that situation got resolved and we were onto the next. This book was more of the same wild and crazy action. Skyla and Gage continuously pledge their love to each other, but there is still some kind of a pull with Logan, and we also can’t leave out our favorite sector, Marshall, who Skyla seems to trust less, which I was sad about. I do not know whether to like or hate this book. For one thing, Addison Moore does know how to tell a griping story. As usual, there are funny episodes, romantic ones too but I must say that it's exhausting to follow the love triangle between Logan, Gage and Skyla. Several travels back and forth in time in this book gets a little confusing, but as always with this series, before I start complaining mentally about the convoluted plot, something will crop up to keep me reading on.

OK, I'm convinced this book is a comedy. There is no way it can be taken seriously. The characters are cartoonish, everyone's telling Skyla she's pregnant, calling her names, subjecting her to pregnacy test only to be proven wrong. No one listens to a word she says. It's like she's not in the room. She can't win for losing. I have never been a huge fan of the Celestra series, but I have noticed that each book has gotten consistently better. The story line has interested me a bit, and I've wanted to unlock the mystery of exactly how everyone on this crazy island relates to one another and will ultimately stand in the big final battle that has been hinted at along the way. So I have continued reading in this series. All I can say is . . . what happened in this latest book? So I have continued reading in this series. All I can say is . . . what happened in this latest book? All of the growth in writing that I noticed with the previous books was completely gone, and this book fell apart from the very beginning. I don't know where to begin. So many things in this book didn't just fall flat. They irritated me to the highest degree. I hardly ever feel this way while reading any book, but I have to say that this one was almost a chore for me to finish. I hate to be so negative, but there it is.

So, what went wrong? First of all, I had absolutely no idea what was going on for at least the first quarter of the book. When we last left Skyla and her wacky world at the end of book #4 she was lying across an altar, just about ready to be sacrificed in some bizarre Count ritual by her once-trusted (boy)friend, Logan. She was surrounded by people in her world who should have been protecting her, her friends and family. But instead they involved themselves in this crazy ritual that seemed to be leading to her death. Okay, that makes sense. Skyla, of course, was going to get herself out of this crisis and would leave with lots of anger directed toward those people who had turned against her, especially Logan. I would completely understand if these new events were to rock Skyla's world and lead her to remove herself from their lives and question her trust in any of them. But for some ridiculous reason it seemed as if Skyla pulls herself away from them for a couple of weeks while she is in a safer place, but then she returns right into her old life -- in her old home with her old family, with her same friends despite the fact that they were there at the ritual, and with some interaction with Logan. Why would she do this? Supposedly these people were involved in practically killing her. Why would she return to them? And why did none of them seem to act like it had been a big deal? No one even mentions the ordeal at all. Why? It made absolutely no sense. When Brielle finally talks to Skyla about it she makes it seem as if it was no big deal. I don't know what to say about all of this. Nothing was explained to satisfy me that I understood what was motivating anyone.

Then there is Skyla's relationship with Logan. It is understandable that she is angry with him and does not trust him any longer. I get that. I really do. But as he tries to explain what really was going on that evening I thought that perhaps she needed to listen to him a bit more. She treats him horribly -- not because she doesn't trust him, but because she continues to find herself kissing him and thinking of him. She kids herself that she is over him, and she is being a royal jerk of a girl to push against him in anger while pulling him to her whenever the fancy grabs her. I have no idea why Logan puts up with her at all. His love for her makes absolutely no sense unless he is truly just a half-insane teenager with no logical bone in his body.

I'll say what really made this book an absolute chore to read -- it was Skyla, the first person narrator. I absolutely cannot stand her. You know that girl in high school who was impossible to like because of her actions toward others? That's Skyla. She is manipulative, whiny, self-centered, hateful, selfish, and I could go on and on. It seems like this entire book was about her quest to "turn in her v-card" as she so inappropriately named it. Her CONSTANT waxing on about her eternal love for Gage -- how they were made for each other for all eternity and would live in love and happiness forever and ever and ever, etc. -- was so taxing to read. She sounded like some lovesick teenager who really has no idea what love really is. There is not one ounce of maturity in this girl. She goes on ad nauseum about her love for Gage, but then she finds herself constantly in situations where she passionately is kissing Logan and Marshall. What sort of love is that? She needed some bff to give her a good swift kick in the pants about her disturbing obsessing about doing the deed with Gage. When he whipped out a condom, and she mistook it for candy, having no idea what the thing was, I was screaming that she had absolutely no reason to be in that situation at all. She was a naive little girl living out her fantasy of what it meant to be in a loving relationship. It is only because she happens to be attracted to two guys, Logan and Gage, who have a bit of maturity and self-restraint, that she hasn't gotten into a situation she shouldn't be in in the first place.

And why, oh why, are these two intelligent, attractive young men constantly pining for this selfish girl? She treats them both like dirt. I don't care how many times a girl says that she loves you; if she keeps finding herself kissing other guys on a regular basis, I would hazard a guess that she may not be the right girl for you. Logan continues to go after her, even after Skyla throws him under the bus, figuratively. It makes no sense, and I can't root for any of these boys because I am convinced that they could do better without her.

Then there is the whole situation with Marshall. I have no patience for this drama at all. He is her teacher, for goodness sake! Why does he seem to be involved with any number of girls in this town and not raise any concerns from the populace? Why is Skyla so obscenely obtuse that she would agree to sleep with this creepizoid just because he promised to keep Chloe away from Gage? What kind of bizarre brain inhabits her head? I'm glad that Logan, at least, seems to be looking out for Skyla's best interest, and he is willing to sacrifice something so that she can be protected from Marshall, even though it possibly means that he will face reprisals from Marshall ultimately.

The whole hatred of Chloe thing is getting super old. These girls who are constantly arguing with Skyla are pretty hard core angry young women, but Skyla is not any better. I think I am meant to root for her against these mean girls, but I'm not feeling it. I think Skyla is just as brutal toward others in other ways. And then, what is this crazy obsession with cheer practice?????? You have a court date, and your first response is, "I have cheer practice."? Or you are scheduled to meet with some celestial bigwigs, and yet again, you worry that you'll be missing cheer practice? What is going on in this girl's head?

The pacing of the book was awful. This was a problem in the first two books, but it has gotten better with the last two books, but in this book it fell apart again. There were so many times when a chapter would end on a cliff hangar event that seemed to show some new angle in the story, but then I would turn the page and see Skyla interacting in exactly the same way with everyone. Frustrating. Shouldn't there be some growth shown throughout the series?

The entire plot is becoming lost in extraneous details and activity. I feel like when I read a series there should be two types of things to expect. Either each book involves the same characters but has completely separate and unrelated stories that exist independently from one another. Or it should be a series that contains a story arc where mysteries are gradually revealed and characters grow as they experience the events of the books. This series is falling apart, however. I feel like I was thrown into a tossed salad of mysteries, but as Skyla traipses through her life only more and more ingredients are thrown into the salad, and some of them have no business even being in the mix. Nothing is getting revealed. Each book only adds more mystery. I could deal with that if I saw any growth in the characters, but they all seem to be slogging through the plot as well, not getting any smarter or kinder or anything. The relationships haven't grown. They just get more confusing. The world seems more and more complicated, and it is getting to the point where there is so much confusion that I am not sure that I even care about the outcome (or would even understand what would be needed in order to feel like I found a happy ending).

The story itself is becoming too confusing to follow. Perhaps I should have re-read the last book before I began this one, but it was only a month ago that I read it, so I shouldn't be so confused about exactly who each of the characters are and how they relate to one another. Unfortunately, the alliances and powers of each person have been twisted so often, that I'm not sure where anyone stands. Because no one is really sharing anything with Skyla I feel like as a reader I am kept out of the loop as well. That doesn't work so well when reading a story with complicated angles thrown in with each new chapter.

Just one sentence for this complaint, but . . . Why, oh why, does the future of this world depend on such an immature, selfish young woman? She had better grow up quick or the people are going to be in big trouble. They'll find that their world was destroyed while their heroine was making plans for passionate trysts with Gage (or will it be Logan or maybe Marshall in the next book?).

This story should have been told in three or four books instead of the five already published (with at least one more on the way). I could have really done without a book half filled with Skyla's plans for schtupping her boyfriend. It is time to get this story well on the way to resolution. I think I'll give the series one more chance to redeem itself, but if the next book ends up like this one, I'm afraid I'll have to leave without finding out how this whole thing resolves itself. It hurts me to award a one star rating to any book, but I just have to say that I didn't like this one at all.(less)

This series is a guilty pleasure for me. The synopsis reads like so many other YA paranormal novels that are out today, but the way Addison Moore writes, you become drawn in to Skyla's world and really start to care about the characters and what happens to them.

I didn't realize this series could get any worse, but this book proved me wrong. Then again, I am the sucker who keeps giving this author my money to read books that I know are awful. I have no idea why I am doing it, other than that I am a masochist who has to finish series that I start.

This book is so bad. The plot is ridiculous, it's full of completely ludicrous behavior and the main character is uncaring about anyone but herself and her own needs. The side characters are all unrealistic and stupid. As with the previous books, there are a ton of typos and grammatical errors. It took me nearly a week to get through and I had to take breaks to read two other novels (which were actually good and I blew through each of them in a matter of hours). I hate not finishing a series, but I'm seriously considering stopping here, especially when the author has said the 6th book isn't even the last one. (less)

Gah!! At this point in the series, I feel as if I'm repeating myself. The CELESTRA series is absolute insanity, crazy, unpredictable, funny, scary, suspenseful...You name the emotion, and I'm pretty sure I felt it.

When book four, WICKED, ended, Skyla had been betrayed. Big time. By someone she loves. The fallout of the supposed betrayal is terrifying and heartbreaking. It definitely alters the course of the story.

The usual suspects are still around. Marshall... I still don't know what to think...more Gah!! At this point in the series, I feel as if I'm repeating myself. I still don't know which Oliver boy, if either, is right for Skyla. I just have a feeling that things are far from settled when it comes to Skyla's love life.

I still hate Tad. What a creep. I mean, the jerk is almost comical when he starts in on Skyla or her mom. He makes me twitchy, and stabby. Speaking of stabby, someone has to kill Chloe. Pronto. That is all.

There are plenty of faces from the past to dot the landscape of VEX. And that's something I find extremely cool about this series. Little things that happen, or people who are mentioned, from the previous books have a way of showing back up. Things are starting to make a bit more sense.

I know I said the ending to WICKED was shocking. But this one takes the cake. The last few pages of VEX are brutal. I feel awful for the readers who waited months for EXPEL. Definitely buckle up when you dive into VEX.

Marshall Dudley’s constant play for Skyla is questionable. He claims that she will one day birth his children and they are destined to be together, but it is his ability to twist the ‘truth’ that is a concern. Skyla must never reveal the truth about Marshall’s powers, but when Chloe spills the truth, everyone involved will be punished. And it is the attack against Marshall that will set a string of events in motion that will tip the scales of love-choosing life or death for one.

Several fatalities once again surround Skyla and her attempts to defend and protect. An accidental beheading on a winter ski vacation, Holden finally finding a body - close to ‘home’ and several visits to the past reveal the evil that Chloe has inflicted on everyone on Paragon Island. Chloe is more than a victim of Countenance rage—she may even be the Grim Reaper and strychnine is her weapon of choice.

But it is the truth about Skyla’s true parentage that reveals more than anyone had previously known. Logan’s involvement with Skyla’s real father and Skyla’s meeting with her birth mother will reveal much needed information to help in the faction war against the Countenance and the Fems. And Skyla’s continuous Light Travel will reunite the woman she thought was her mother-with the man she knows to be her father. But a man from her adopted-mother’s past may be darker and more powerful than anyone she has yet to discover.

There are new revelations about the many families and people who live on Paragon Island. The history is steeped in death, power struggles and an on-going war between good and evil. The Celestra Council has rules that must be followed, and breaking those rules, can be punishable by death or worse. To live your life as an immortal would be better spent, in the guise of a human, rather surrounded by feathers and a cage. But it is the love between Skyla and the Oliver boys that will break your heart knowing only two will see it through—to the end.

One of my complaints, about this particular storyline, is the continuous attack by Skyla’s ‘family’ accusing her of becoming pregnant. Regardless of her attempts to persuade otherwise and the truth, no one is willing to listen. Everyone presumes she is pregnant, without benefit of a physician’s appointment. Her parents, her siblings and many students refuse to believe Skyla, and that is a concern, especially with something so detrimental as a teen pregnancy. Although, in the end, the truth will reveal the real pregnant teen, it is the lies that perpetuate and grow into a firestorm of emotions, that ate away at my senses. When Skyla’s step-father lashes out and all but destroys her life because of this misinformation and then he remains fairly placid when the true ‘teen parents’ are revealed, leaves me shaken. Sexism still exists, and it takes TWO to make a baby. Skyla’s younger sisters are manipulative and controlling, using the potential pregnancy to gain an upper hand. Blackmail is a regular theme in Addison’s storylines. The constant name calling, accusations, mistrust and disrespect is humiliating, both for the characters and to me as a reader. To be honest-this particular storyline surrounding the issue of teen-pregnancy was difficult to read.

Like the previous 4 novels in the Celestra series, Vex is fast paced and rarely a moment to breath. New revelations are continuous and I highly recommend that the series be read in order. Missing or reading out of order, will leave the reader confused and lost. Ok…waiting for Expel.

I have to say the Chloe and the blackmail thing was really pi**ing me off. I just wanted to go smack the smile of her face on numerous occasions. I was getting frustrated with Gage too for so easily going along with it all but then Marshall, yes naughty little Marshall kept me sane all the way through. I love his retribution, I love his wicked talk, I love his danger. I found this book of the series leaving me rather, well, vexed. I suppose in that case it was appropriately titled. I found Skyla to be annoyingly slutty, simple-minded, and outright selfish. I was disappointed that the main character took a turn in an unattractive direction. A love triangle is entertaining, even a love square, as was in this case. This story jumps immediately into action as it picks up where the cliff hanger ending of Wicked left off. For that I was glad, but that situation got resolved and we were onto the next. This book was more of the same wild and crazy action. Skyla and Gage continuously pledge their love to each other, but there is still some kind of a pull with Logan, and we also can’t leave out our favorite sector, Marshall, who Skyla seems to trust less, which I was sad about. This book was seriously amazing!
Team Logan all the way; even though hes made Skyla go through a lot,I honestly believe that the problems that they have gone through and all the ones that are going to come will only make their love stronger.

Don't get me wrong though, I don't HATE Gage. I just seem to think that Logan is the perfect match for Skyla. And I truly think that Gage and Skyla's relationship is temporary, and I am positive that it will never become any more serious than it is right now....more

I loved the 4 previous books and really looked forward to reading the fifth. I must say, however, that I was pretty disappointed in this book. I had a really hard time getting into it, which I thought was odd since I devoured the other 4 by reading them all within 2 days. I found this book to be all over the place. Homestly these books just keep getting better and better there were some hillarious lines in this book that really had me laughing out loud like a crazy person in public places . People who are thinking about reading this book are reading the sieres like myself. I thought this one would be a great addition to the last one. Instead im very disappointed on "Vex". There was to much of Skla with her man problems instead of focusing on the Fraction War. I don't mind her love life problems, but this was just to much. OMGOMGOMG!!

Please. Don't. Let. Gage. DIE!!

I hated Logan so much in the book. And Marshall. Oh, and Skyla - can she (please Lord, PLEASE!!) just make up her mind about which guy she likes?! Can she stop keeping dreadful secrets that will incriminate her and ruin her relationships?! Can she PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE not break Gage's heart?! (And can she stop with the psychotic tendencies?!)

I really like the premise of this series... unfortunately, these books are so "action-packed" that it is damn near impossible to keep all the story lines and plot twists straight.
