Recommends it for: any kid with a curious and adventure loving spirit
This is the best book so far in this very good series! It is packed full of adventure, literally from page one! Torak suffers yet another great loss in life, and this time, not being a small child, he swears revenge. He drags those who love him - Wolf, Renn, Fen-Keddin - along on his quest, and often, in spite of the evidence directly in front of him, he allows his oath of vengance to lead him down paths that are not in his best interests. Like any kid feeling grown while not yet being grown, he ...more

I am so in love with these books. I don't even know what to say about this, the 5th book in the "Chronicles of Ancient Darkness". AMAZING once again. I was so sad to see Bale go, but the ending of this book made up for so much. It really brought a tear to my eye. How special the relationships formed throughout this series have been. Wolf and Torak and Renn…just incredible. The chemistry between all the characters and their individual personalities a
What I liked: Where to start? I have loved this series of books since I first opened Wolf Brother in 2004. Michelle Paver’s beautiful writing creates an ancient world that instantly draws you in and makes you believe in it so much you can almost feel the breeze and hear the Forest leaves rustling around you.

I love her detail. She has obviously done a lot of research and truly immersed herself in the world of post-ice age Europe and this reflects in every single line of the book. You can tell she
Oath Breaker is about a boy who lived in prehistoric times and had to learn to survive on his own. His father has died and he has been outcast from any clan. When Torak's best friend is killed, he swears vengence and goes after the killer along with another best friend and her uncle. I loved how the author enabled us to see what life was like back then and to see how people saw and interpreted their world. It was fascinating h
Oath Breaker was not disappointing at all. I loved it. (Not a big surprise surely)

Oh Bale. I really liked you. His fate was just horrible. And Torak. My poor Torak. It was hard watching Torak going on the journey to seek revenge. It simply isn’t who he is. We now know more about Torak’s mother and the story behind her medicine horn which was so heart-breaking. I also loved how Renn is admitting that she’s a Mage. It was awesome. Her snarky comments with the Red Deer clan were simply hilarious. A

Just like the first four books in this series, Michelle Paver keeps the action and adventure fast-paced and gripping. We follow Torak into the Deep Forest where danger threatens him at every turn as he seeks to fulfill his oath of vengenance against one of the Soul Eaters. Ms. Paver's beautiful writing is such that we can feel his despair and anger and pain as though it were our own. I think that what I like most about this series is the incredible bond between Torak and Wolf. They are pack-brot ...more

Menyaksikan petualangan Torak, jadi ingat suku Na'vi di film bombastis James Cameron, Avatar, yan ...more

Finally, torak memiliki kawanan sejatinya. Uhuy!!!

Special untuk Ijul, dirimu bertanggung
I wanted to give this book 10 stars!!!
Oh my god...
THIS BOOK IS AMAZING! I am crying, my heart has exploded and I am so in love with this series it hurts...
Unlike Outcast the storyline took a very different turn, this book was much darker and much more intense than any previous books, but this is what made it so good, as well as the countless adorable moments! I cannot recommend this series enough to people!! It's just got to be one of the best children's series ever and more people NEED to read

I've just finished this book. AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. There are a couple of things I couldn't understand at the beginning of the book but that's mainly due to the fact that I haven't read the series. Now i can't wait to get my hands on them. I was trapped instantly and i couldn't put that book down. It was really really good. The writing was phenomenal. It was really smooth. And i absolutely adored Wolf. He's my favourite character. I regret not reading this earlier because it was THAT good. ...more
Bale, kerabat Torak dari Klan Anjing Laut tewas dibunuh. padahal Bale karakter yg lumayan saya suka -_- Pelakunya adalah Thiazzi, Dukun Klan Ek yg juga salah satu Pemakan Arwah. Batu Baiduri Api itulah penyebabnya.

(2010) Gila... versi English-nya keluar tahun 2008, versi Indonesia-nya baru muncul Februari 2010... Hmm... tapi menurutku yg kelima ini agak kurang seru n kurang asyik dibanding yg sebelumnya... Kenapa ya??
Almost the entirety of the Oath Breaker comes to revenge, and in the end Torak earns another important lesson about prioritizing and friendship. Again, like the previous books in the series, the problem I have with the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness is that the fights between Torak and the Soul-Eaters are not epic enough. The final confrontation scenes in the series have always been short-lived and lack the feeling that it's a fight between two powerful forces of good and evil; up until now the ...more
Story jumps right in from last book. Torak needs to track and stop the last 2 remaining Soul Eaters.

* Torak isn't an outcast anymore, but still clanless
* Wolf's point of view
* Wolves don't seek revenge
* Ravens were great additions to the gang - Rip and Rek
* Torak's tracking skills

this book was actually pretty desent i think that the book was well written and well organized itw was a very interesting book michelle paver has never failed to diasa point me in any way i think that this book has offered a lot it has many different unique qualities which i really like i found this book to be focused more on sadness and revenge rather than all of the mythical action packed books in the series this one gets more serious than the other book torak has to avenge his kingsmans daet ...more

This book was phenomenal. In fact, this whole series was. I like this book because of its action. To begin with, there's this seat gripping writing style the author has in his action scenes. I feel like i'm part of them. Like when he fights thiazzi, and when he flees in the fire scene. Another reason I love this book is because of the main characters. Torak is brave. He's young and scared, but he gives all he can. he's faced many problems, his father dying, him being an outcast. But even though ...more
In my review of Outcast (or was it Soul Eater? They're all kind of mushing together in my head now), I said that I hoped the series would turn into more of a coming-of-age story. In Oath Breaker, it has---with a vengeance. Everyone is coming of age in this book---Torak, Renn, Wolf.

The plot in this one is a little less engaging (and a little more confusing) for me. Paver's descriptions of the forest are less vivid, and I didn't feel as much of a connection to the setting as I had in earlier books

Buku kelima dr Chronicles of Ancient Darkness.

Gee, this one was more intense, coming back with a full force of the forest. Torak is seeking revenge after a friend is killed by one of the Soul-Eaters. His journey takes him to the Deep Forest, where he hunts for the Soul-Eater. Renn comes along as usual. I like this one, because Torak learns more about life and Renn starts to show more. It was interesting how the clans have no idea of what war is and this one shows the beginning of one. (view spoiler) ...more

Bagian satu:

slightly better than the previous book. not by much.

i started out these reviews trying to convince myself these books were different enough to be worthy of promotion, but unlike torak, i've undergone a character transformation (in the space of an hour!) and realised that the only good thing about these books is their different settings, their smooth writing, that's it. the characters are never properly developed, some are used as nothing more than plot-bearers. This is Tyler's (8yo) favorite series. He said that he really liked the ending of this one.

Update 03/20/13:
The ending is great. But man, I have to agree with Wolf, why are tailesses so complicated? We are stubborn, hide our feelings, don't listen to reason and let ourselves be motivated by anger. It is another book where we fear for our heroes as they try to figure out what all Thiazzi is up to and not get lost in the choas he tries to create. We learn more about Torak's backstory, this time his

Not my favourite book of the series but still a good read. You can tell that a lot of research went into these books and each of them have been enjoyable and well written.
I'd definitely recommend this series to anyone that fancies a bit of a change from the norm. Also the end of this book really made me smile. It was obvious what was coming but still a really uplifting ending. Overall pretty good stuff

OKay..I accidentally skipped this book, and went ahead of myself to read the finale for this series. Seriously, that was a good excuse to reread the last book again. But, I didn`t lied.. It was mistake.. I`ve finished with the last book when I first realized about this human error..LOL..
Anyway about this..OMG..The bits of love between Torak and Renn..Finally, after all this years.He was obviously jealous of Bale, which I think had small parts in in the beginning, and none later on..

I remember finishing this book and getting sad because I couldn't find the last book in stores. I don't even think it was out yet (I read a swedish version of it and it takes time to translate a book you know). It's a wonderful wonderful book.

Oath Breaker might have been the best book in the series (And that's saying a lot). The environment was really powerful in this book. I especially liked it when he traveled through the trees.

The hugely successful Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series arose from Michelle's lifelong passion for animals, anthropology and the distant past - as as well as an encounter
