Oh what a difference 20% makes...This book had a bit a slow start for me and then...HELLO AWESOMENESS!!! What's not to love baby?! !! Heroic pirates, honorable soldiers with naughty desires, despotic rulers, silly petty princes, intrigue, twisty turns, fabulous erotica, epic romance....With a bonafide Great Escape to boot?!!! Oh this was FUN

So Captain Tristan Kelley's ship has been captured by pirates, during a voyage trasporting Prince Rikard of the Regency to another quadrant. Someone betrayed...more

It's a sign on how much I love Marie Sexton (she is one of my favorites and auto-buy list authors afterall), that I follow her even when she's inserting m/m/m on Song of Oestend and into the world of space pirates like this one. Yes, Space pirates. Trust me, not my usual read. But darn, how Marie Sexton writes things ... that I find myself being in love with these characters and already want some more.

Despite the blurb saying "Blind and held prisoner, Tristan finds himself at the mercy of Valero...more

3.5 - There is not a damn thing wrong with this book. Sci-fi, hot ass pirates, prisoners, men in lingerie, and smoking hot sex (lots of it), bad evil Regency, spoiled Prince, politics and love. Oh did I mention the smokin hot sex?

This was a nice, sexy interlude that should be read for what it is, a simple story that was well written and very sexy. Marie never disappoints!

Just for fun (6-word plot): Temporarily blind hostage meets space pirate. First-person narrator Tristan is a young soldier, who knows he's only a cog in the vast machine of a corrupt galactic empire. He's currently taking an ill-advised space voyage while acting as bodyguard (and sex toy) to a spoiled prince whom he dislikes. When the ship gets captured by space pirates, Tristan and everybody else beco...more

Captain Tristan Kelley is temporarily blinded by a flash gun when his space ship is hijacked by pirates. Space pirates! With mohawks, piercings, tattoos, and sexy swagger lead by the soft-talking, charismatic Captain Valero. Tristan has been loyal to the Regency which employs him, but meeting Valero turns his world on end when he gets a different picture of the ruling power. With soft, insistent seduction Valero gets under Tristan’s skin and little by little it’s not just his ship that’...more

Fabulous! I loved it so good I was captivated from start to finish and was instantly immersed into this pirate kidnapping Sci-fi escapade. The slow build up was sensuous and erotic between Tristan and Valero (dreamy) it was sexy as hell now that's what I call kinky.

They were sizzling together burning up the sheets and everything else. Valero with his caressing touches and whispered words seduces Tristan beautifully. Tristan and Valero (love that name) are just gorgeous!

This had it all...more

See a blinking star? Might be Tristan and Valero setting a galaxy on fire...
More science friction than fiction Blind Space was a 90 % gizmo-free space pirate romance that could have happened everywhere at everytime and not necessarely on a spaceship in the future.Good for me,maybe less so for SciFi fans...
With focus on the romance and slow build up of sexual tension between the pirate Valero and his temporarily blind captive Tristan this was a highly sensual novella - told from Trista...more

If you are looking for a romantic adventure set in outer space, you don’t want to miss this book, which delivers an exciting blend of eroticism and suspense through the popular theme of captor-and-captive falling in love. I especially enjoyed the stoic, everyman quality of the first-person narrator.

Tristan, a soldier who serves a corrupt empire, knows he is just a cog in the machine, and it grounds the story in realism. In glimpses, we readers can piece together the effects of colonization, whic...more

I found this a very enjoyable read. I like when a story involves an adventure, a romance, but also a personal dilemma for a character to have to work through. In this case the dilemma is loyalty and trust- who is worthy of it being bestowed upon them.

Tristan Kelley is the captain of the body guard and something more to a spoiled prince of the powerful Regency. When their ship is attacked by pirates, he is blinded and removed along with his men from the prince. Tristan didn't go down without a f...more

I’m not usually a big fan of sci-fi, but I have a kink for the Sci-fi Regency sub-theme, probably a legacy of my past as Regency Romance reader. So as soon as I started this novel, I knew it was up my alley. Actually there is very little interaction between the main characters and the outside world, so the Sci-fi setting is not so overwhelming. This is basically the story of the slow seduction of pirate Valero towards captain Tristan, and Valero behaves like a real gentleman. A former military m...more

When someone who is interested in m/m genre asks me which book I recommend to start with, I often say Promises by Marie Sexton. It's a beautiful book, real and powerful characters...one of my favorites. Marie's writing style flows very easy and her words envelope you in this mental cocoon where you feel good and there is no chance you'll get distracted by anything until you finish your book. I have very much respect for Marie Sexton. When I know how this woman can write, it brings additional dis...more

Well, Four stars for the pirate kidnapping/love scenes. Since I love men and pirates I was a sucker to check this book out via my kindle. I was looking for books written by authors that had my first or middle name for a name challenge and discovered the title. Not sure I will read anymore of her titles as I typically like to have a man and woman as the couple. I do like to read erotica and so I'm not ashamed to have read this title.... I didn't feel like any of the captors or kidnappers were on...more

SciFi M/M books are not my normal fare, so this was well outside my comfort zone. I want to start expanding my horizons and Blind Space was a favorite of many friends and lots of folks here at Good Reads.

I did enjoy this book, but I didn't love it. And I really think the reason I didn't love it was because it was scifi. It was too... weird for me. If that makes any sense. And it doesn't make any sense to me either because as far as TV and movies go, I'm a self professed SciFi geek! My favorites...more

Not perfect, but I liked it enough to put it on my re-read list

Warning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS.

Rating: 8/10

PROS:
- I liked both of the main characters. Valero has an air of amusement about him that is fun and refreshing, and Tristan is practical and naïve all at once. His attitude is matter-of-fact without coming across as horribly cynical, and I admired his willingness to discover the unpleasant truths about his world rather than remaining self-righteous.

I hesitate to use a comparison to Firefly, but the pirates in this story are comparable to Mal Reynolds and his crew--honorable from a certain point of view, but they're going to make a living one way or another, and if they can screw the Empire in the process, more's the better. And young Captain Tristan Kelley learns the true nature of the Empire he has served and becomes even more disillusioned than he already was.

I would say the main theme of this story is Tristan learning the difference be...more

So I was initially a little put off paying $5.99 for a novella, but really this is the perfect length. At about 200 pages it's short enough to finish easily in a day (and still have a life), but all those pages are used well. There is the set-up of your typical sci-fi world with a bigger empire who is trying to control resources and individual societies/planets are trying to rebel, so they cover this but don't insult our intelligence by overly explaining too much, we get it. And the information...more

I am a big fan of Marie Sexton’s books and Blind Space was no exception. This futuristic novel had it all: pirates, hot sex, and did I say pirates? Poor Captain Tristan Kelley, kidnapped by a bunch of space pirates in the middle of transporting his spoiled sometimes lover through Blind Space. Held prisoner, Tristan finds himself drawn to one of his captors, Valero, a handsome Mohawked hunk of a man. As Tristan waits to be released, Valero sets about to seduce him…but will Tristan hold out agains...more

I'm a big fan of Marie, so it didn't take much for me to decide to read this book, even though it's quite a departure from her other work. I was very pleasantly surprised. I mean, who doesn't love a sexy guyliner wearing, pierced in all the right places pirate?

While a little slow to start, this short story of a love that develops between Capt. Tristan Kelley and one of the pirates who have kidnapped him and his crew is very sweet and well done, considering the rough and nasty image that pirates...more

Captain Tristan Kelley is full of surprises. If I had to describe him, I would name the following qualities: young idealist and somewhat sheltered, but those things will not stand on his way in search of truth; loyal and not afraid of getting into fight for what he believes; is a good judge of character; has a sexy kink.
We can sense his frustration at his current position. He is a Regency Captain and is in charge of Prince security. He is also out-of-duty-lover to the Prince. You can say he is s...more

So normally I would have given this a 3 star because it's so short and as such the story, world, and characters suffer. However, this is MARIE and it's tattooed, pierced, mohawked fucking SPACE PIRATES!!!

Tristan joined the Regent's military at the age of 16, after his home planet was taken over by them. He's worked hard and done as he was told and earned his way to being a Captain and the private guard for Prince Rizik. Rizik is your typical spoiled rich kid; he's only interested in his own sat...more

This writer rarely dissappoints me. I love scifi stories, and I am usually easily sold on the adventures in space and when the story has great characters, I am sold even faster. I enjoyed what this writer did with the potentially master/slave trope which for me can easily go so wrong and went so right and became something, I loved how much easy going chemistry Tristan and Valero had and how romantic every interaction between them was, even when one or both of the guys were not in their happiest...more

While this book is well written and I enjoyed it, it also let me down in some ways. Yes, the characters are great, and the sex and tension leading up to it are smoking hot. I liked the way it examined loyalty, and how it was earned, or not. I like the exploration between right and wrong, and how everything wasn't black and white. I especially enjoyed the descriptions of Tristan's experiences when he couldn't see, they really helped me relate to him and his feelings. It was nice to see him find a...more

GREAT!! Space Pirates. What more can I say :)

Okay, the writing was good, the situations believable, the Prince was a scumbag and the Pirates were princes.

Loved the story. Tristan and Valero are great MC's and my only regret was that the "prince" wasn't exposed for the two-faced back stabbing a-hole he truly was. Though Tristan DID get him to pay through the nose :)

Loved it. Recommend it.

This is much less freaky and unnerving than the blurb makes it sound, which for me was a plus. Tristan is only temporarily blinded, and though he is a prisoner, his captors aren't ruthless or unprincipled. The main conflict is Tristan's struggle between his loyalty to his government and his attraction to the space pirate Valero, with a little extra spice thrown in by his (to him) shameful kink. (view spoiler)[Women's lingerie -- a perfect fit for someone temporarily blind, with other senses heig...more

Marie Sexton has yet to disappoint me. This futuristic, sci-fi adventure was fantastic. I love world building, and Blind Space has created a very fascinating world. As a fan of Firefly, this was right up my alley.

Captain Tristan Kelley and his men are escorting Prince Rikard through the blind space when their ship is ambushed by pirates. He and his men are kidnapped and held for ransom, but in the interim the pirate Valero sets out to seduce the temporarily blinded Captain Kelley, who finds hims...more

Really good plotted story. Tristan was interesting character. I liked how he behaved and acted. The plot was pulling from the start till the end. I couldn't put the book down. Valero was a fine example of a pirate. Both Tristan and Valero were hot together and a perfect couple. This story ended definitely to fast.

This was an interesting story. The way the author utilized the blindness of the main character was interesting and unique although his recovery time seemed wonky. The characters were well constructed although I didn't love any of them. I liked them but that's all. That and the fact that the pirates never actually DO anything piratey except take over the MC's crew is what kept this from a five star for me. The spots where the author could have really put in exciting bits were glossed over: the ma...more

Marie Sexton lives in Colorado. She’s a fan of just about anything that involves muscular young men piling on top of each other. In particular, she loves the Denver Broncos and enjoys going to the games with her husband. Her imaginary friends often tag along. Marie has one daughter, two cats, and one dog, all of whom seem bent on destroying what remains of her sanity. She loves them anyway.
