Lily and Jack shared a kiss when they were younger, but Jack was restless and needed to get out of the small town of Strong. He went on to become a fire jumper, loving the adrenaline rush and leading the men in his company into dangerous situations to help get fires under control. His adoptive mom asks him to come back to Strong as a series of random fires, too early in the season to be considered “usual”, have started and she’s worried their small town f
Thanks to the publisher, Kensington, and NetGalley for the chance to read this!

A very explosive story!

This story quickly caught my attention and took off at a sprint. It is the first in a new series about smoke-jumper firefighters. If the rest are even half as good as this one, then Ms. Marsh has a winning series on her hands. Well written, intense, and full of suspense, this story was on FIRE (pun intended).

I’m not sure which I enjoyed most the romance, action or suspense. I found myself racing
Jack couldn't wait to get away from small town life and he loves his job as a smoke jumper more than anything. He's always been restless and the job makes sure he never has to spend too much time in one place which suits him perfectly. His adoptive mother Nonna is about the only person who could get him back to his home town so when she calls to tell him about a spate of arson attacks and begs for his help to keep the town safe he drops everything to help her. Lily was crazy about Jack when she ...more
Reviewed Sweet Burn, a later book in the Smoke Jumpers series, for netgalley, and then I just had to go back and start at the first one. I do enjoy the slow and intense build up of the story and the love/sex aspect of Marsh's firefighter stories - it's not wham! bam! you're mine, m'am! - but a more realistic build up. Marsh knows her firefighting stuff, and I really enjoy reading the details associated with fighting the fires. Also, the firefighters/smoke jumpers/hot shots are usually military g ...more
Lee Anne - OMG! Spring is Finally Here!

Burning Up quickly caught my attention and kept it through the entire story. Jack and Lily are a hot couple and they’re caught up in a mystery that could end deadly.

Jack comes back to Strong at the request of his Nonna. They’re little town has an arsonist and it quickly becomes apparent to Jack, that Lily is the target. Lily fears her stalker has found her again and she’s scared. Jack moves in to take care of her and protect her.

Anne Marsh has created a hot story with some hot romance. Jack and
This is the first smoke- jumper firefighters book I ever read and also the first in a series. It was very interesting learning all the details of forest fire fighting plus the type of person needed to be able to handle fire crisis at a moments notice. The author’s research made for an educational twist. The book was a romance filled with suspense and mystery.
The writer balances the talents of the characters with their weakness. In this book of the series, Jack and Lily are the main characters.
It was okay seriously is all that comes to mind. Jack and Lily share a kiss while they were too young to understand or I guess be ready for what they could have. Jack leaves because he needs to get out before the walls close in leaving a heartbroken Lily. A decade pass and our hero has not forgotten his Lily but actually thinks about her often. A series a fires too early in the season to be "usual" occur and has his adoptive mom calling for support. Of course we all know that she is trying to ge ...more
This was my first taste of this author and it certainly won't be my last. I enjoyed the sexy smoke jumpers and I can't wait to hear more about the brothers. Lily is a wonderful heroine and is the perfect woman for Jack. I had a little trouble with their inner monologues which were a bit repetitive and also kinda went back and forth about their feelings for each other. One minute they were both struggling with their feelings to the point of denying them, the next minute they were damning all to h ...more

As novels go, it was an acceptable short story. Characters flat.
Burning Up by Anne Marsh is the first book in a trilogy about smoke jumpers.

In this one we meet Jack Donovan, as he and his team are jumping out of an airplane into a fire. He loves his job and the adrenalin rush he gets every time. He is your typical Alpha male - strong, determined, hard-working with a soft spot in his heart for his family. His family is Nonna, who adopted him as a troubled youth, and his 2 foster brothers. He has agreed to return to his hometown, Strong, because Nonna has call

Holy Smokes

Hot as hell, Jack Donovan fought fires, jumped out of planes and stayed moving. Nothing could tie him down until Lily. Great book, full of danger, intrigue, and hot fire jumpers. Anne Marsh tells a great story with great characters. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series of "Smoke Jumpers".

Uggg...I wanted so badly to love this book! I really enjoyed Ms. Marsh's book One Hot Cowboy...but this book left me burnt out instead of burning up! I really disliked Lily and then as the story moved on (ever so slowly along) I began to really dislike her, then hate her. There were times were I wanted to smack her in the face. Case in point: the time Jack got the call that there was a fire on the ridge and homes were in jeopardy so Jack jumped out of thei

I gave up on reading this book. The story focused on Jack's return to his hometown when his mother figure asks him to come home to help fight the recent outbreak of fires. Jack has vowed not to return as he has unfinished business with Lily and doesn't want to be confined to the small town. But since he feels he owes his mother for taking him in, he returns home without a protest. Immediately he finds out that Lily, a girl he apparently cannot get out of his head, is the victim of the recent fir ...more
Hot Smoke Jumper Alpha Male Hero

Ever since I posted Burning Up sexy cover as my pick for Lusting For Covers Meme by TBQ's Book Palace awhile back on my blog. I was looking forward to reading it. Even though I rate it as a 3 star-I like it. I really wanted it to be a 4 or 5 star. Now it is not a bad thing that it is 3 stars. I just had a few issues with the book but at the same time I enjoyed it.

I love how Jack is a hot Smoke Jumper Alpha Male Hero who is arrogant but is also sweet. My kind of h
Dreadful!! We're supposed to LIKE this guy? I can't find ONE redeeming quality. He spends the entire book saying nothing more than, "Do me" or "You're gonna do me." Or thereabouts. And we're supposed to respect Lily for going along with this? Bleh!! And she's supposed to be this super businesswoman, but spends the book wringing her hands and whining about the beefcake. Puhleeeeese.
Jack Donavan is a smoke jumper, meaning he jumps from planes and puts out fires. He lives a life of adrenaline and danger. He is on a job, when he get a call from his adopted mother to come back home to help the local fire chief for the summer. Jack agrees but is very reluctant to go back to his home town of Strong, because it means there is a chance he'll run into Lily Cortez.

Knihu jsem četla skoro dva měsíce. Měla jsem problém se začíst a vůbec se do dočtení dokopat. Úspěšně pronuděno do konce. Sympatická hlavní hrdinka, ale jinak prostě průměrná romance o parahasičích, s jedním zmagořeným žhářem, logickými kiksy a hodně pomalým tempem.

This one showed a lot of promise but unfortunately it didn't meet my expectations. The story was very slow moving and I had a hard time connecting with the characters but my main problem with this book was the transition between characters. Mostly told through Jack and Lily, but sometimes also through their Nona and Uncle, many times it was unclear as to whose head I was in, or who was speaking. There was no clear break from one character to the other which tended to be confusing. All

I tried really hard not to compare it to another book I have read. Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts. But it was hard, due to the similarities to the story lines. An unknown fire bug is starting fires, but instead of being one of their own team like in Nora's book, it was a psycho who thought the lead female charater was his. Or should have been his. The male lead has issues of his own to overcome, but with a little soul searching, and some predictability, he works things out, to a comfortable level. ...more
It was OK, that's all. It seemed at some points to long winded. Turned me off from the story. Would I read the next book? Maybe but I'm not reaching out for it right now. I hoped for so much more than just ok.
This was a mixed book for me. I had a hard time liking Jack as a hero. He seemed a little too over the top alpha at times. He essentially forces his way into living in her home, and repeatedly does things that he thinks is best, but that Lily has asked him not to. I didn't get why Lily would just let these things go. I liked that Lily was farming lavender, that was something that i hadn't seen before. She seemed like a strong character, but would then let Jack get away with things. I felt that t ...more

After ten years of graduate school and too many degrees, Anne Marsh escaped to become a technical writer. When not planted firmly in front of the laptop translating Engineer into English, Anne enjoys gardening, running (even if it’s just to the 7-11 for slurpees), and reading books curled up with her kids. The best part of writing romance, however, is finally being able to answer the question: “So ...more
